What is your ideal hotel to stay at while seeing SeaWorld and US/IOA?

We have two preschool girls and looking for a quiet and clean (mid-upper range) hotel in the near vicinity of Sea World and US/IOA.

Do you have any recommendations and reasons we might consider a specific hotel along International Blvd?

If I were going to US/IOA, I would definitely stay ONSITE! For your group I would probably stay at Royal Pacific. Last time when we went we stayed at Portofino Bay and that Front Of the LIne card you get for staying onsite is PRICELESS. It's like a fast pass for nearly every ride. And when we used it, you went right up to the front. We usually got on the next car for the ride. (We went in the summer.) It really made our trip better. We slept in, took a break in the afternoon to swim (we swam at all 3 Universal hotel pools - you are allowed to pool hop at Universal). We had nice sit down dinners too. Plus we saw everything. My younger DD and I rode the Unicorn rollercoaster over and over - 6 times in a row. It was a WALK ON every time with the FOTL key. We also rode Spiderman 5 times in a row while my DH and older DD were riding Hulk. Again, never more than a one car wait!

for offsite budget minded (but still nice resorts) - I would recommend Cypress Pointe or Cypress Pointe Grand Villas. There is a back way (Turkey Lake Rd) to both Sea World (closest) & Universal.

But I definately agree with the other 2 posters, if it is in your budget, then I would stay onsite at Universal for front of the line access to all the rides all day.

Marriott Horizions is another (higher budget) suggestion for a resort near Sea World. I think the Peabody is also close to Sea World & your kids would get a kick out of watching the duck march daily.

I personally HATE International Dr - horrible traffic! That said, the Homewood Suites (runs about $170ish per night) is off International Dr but not the busy traffic part- it is basically directly across I4 from Universal - infact our room looked right out (well across) to the Hulk Roller Coaster. Homewood Suites is very nice, was extremely clean & has a sitting room with a tv, pull out sofa & a chair, kitchenette with stove top burners, nice sized refridgerator (not a mini fridge but slightly smaller than a house fridge). The bedroom completely closes off from the sitting room/kitchenette with french doors. It has 2 queen beds & an armoire with another tv + drawer space. The complimentary breakfast served in the lobby every morning has hot scrambled eggs, eggs with bits of ham, either sausage links or bacon (depending on which is served at the time you get to breakfast, the rotate out) also you can make your own waffles from batter they provide + juices, bagles, danish, fruit etc. Enough to fill up! Also Mon-Thurs they have a managers reception where they serve complimentary beer & wine. Highly recommend Homewood Suite (on Hospitality Way) if you want a hotel type atmosphere not onsite.

Ideal?
On-site
Portofino Bay
Hard Rock
Royal Pacific
Off-site
Ritz Carlton Grand Lakes
JW Marriott
Peabody

Ditto the other posters who said to stay on site for Universal--we love Portofino and they often have good deals. That said, we just returned from Marriott Cypress Harbour which was around the corner from Sea World. We loved it--ask for a refurbished room in building 53 if you decide to stay there. We are Marriott frequent guest members and got a great deal of $159 per night for a two bedroom that included a washer and dryer. We definitely plan on staying there again.

stay onsite...hands down...
do HRH or RPH

but FOTL is worth it's weight in gold.

try to stay there after you stay at WDW...
we did the reverse and drove kids crazy when they had to wait for rides at WDW

Two I really like to stay at when I do stay off site, are the Country Inn & Suites International Drive and the Holiday Inn Convention Center. They both have a very quick direct route to US. Both are fairly new and very nice!
