What is your highest level of education

I have a BA in sociology and government and I minored in Criminology. Not using it in the least right now as I decided to be a SAHM. I do not regret getting my degree.

My DH has two master degrees and he does use them in his work.

I chose other. I have an associates degree in science, and bachelor's in social work, and a professional graduate certificate in attendance and social services. Still working on the master's degree in Leadership Studies, I have about a year to go. Forgot to say, the bachelor's and prof. certificate have definitely been worth it. I wouldn't be able to keep my job without the certificate and I use what I learned while studying for my bachelor's degree almost every day.

Currently work as an attorney. Previously worked in accouting and business. The degrees give me "street cred", but I could have done any job I've ever had with an 8th grade education.

Oh, and I'm on the 30 year repayment plan for my school loans! Whoopee! Interest rate is only 1.875%, so I'll never pay them early.

I'll graduate in May with a B.A. in Print Journalism. I'm currently searching for a spring internship in the communications field and then if I get hired from that, great. If not, I want to get into marketing/advertising/PR. My friends and I (all print journalism majors) were talking about this tonight and we're all heading in the same direction - if the journalism thing doesn't work out we want to get into marketing/advertising/PR so yes, we would essentially be using our degrees to an extent.

I received a degree in English Literature while also studying Computer Science. First real job was as a technical writer. When I got the Comp Sci degree, I moved into programming for the same company. So I use one of my two degrees.

I have a BA in English Comp Lit and a BFA in Speech and Theatre. I've worked in broadcasting most of my life (30 years). Now I'm a Director of Traffic for a broadcast agency.

I use my english degree everyday in my life because I love the art and I read all the time. My son is studying lit now in school and will study Brit lit next year. His best friend's Mom is his lit teacher and we share a true love for the art!

I have a B.A. in Spanish and Italian with a concentration in education and also have an ABA paralegal certification. I previously taught and now work as a litigation paralegal. I have used the foreign language in my work.

My son graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and is a police officer (loves his job more than anybody I know!).

My daughter is about to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics and minors in biology and math. She is considering grad school but may go to work in biophysics research and delay grad school (tired of school!).

I have a Bachelor of Art's Degree in Anthropology and do nothing remotely related to that degree. I also have a few Master's level classes in Education. Again, nothing remotely related... I urge my kids to go after their dreams and let nothing stand in their way. I wish I had. My initial thought was Veterinary Medicine or Forensics. Now, I sit in an office all day at a computer. I enjoy my job ok. Hindsite simply would have led me in a different direction. I hope my oldest son continues to seek his dream of being a musician and my youngest son continues to seek his dream of working in some capacity with Disney. I believe they would be happier. I just want them to follow their hearts.

I have a b.s. in Computer Science, and a masters in Library and Information Science. I never found any sustainable work as a computer programmer (graduated in a recession when everything was short-term "consulting" projects.) so I got the masters. I now work as a librarian, and you need the masters to get a job there that makes a liveable wage. I very much enjoy my job, though full-time benefit positions are becoming very hard to land, with hours of operation being slashed and budgets cut.

Sadly I am going through a mid-life career crisis, as I a very pessimistic that libraries will last until I hit retirement age in 25 plus years. And what on earth would a librarian do for a job if there are no libraries anymore? Ugh. Very depressing thought. I keep fearing that someday I will lose my current library job and not find another, and wind up right back at square one working a minimum wage job, and looking at community college to get yet another degree in something else. I keep hearing that the most "sure thing" fields are the medical ones, but I bombed chemistry and biology in high school and can't imagine trying to do that all again at my age. Not going to happen. Sigh.

Yeah, can't say I am looking at the future with eager eyes. But even if I could do it all again with a different degree, I still don't know what that would have been.

I put other -- I have 2 BA's- One in Elementary Education, and one in Writing Arts. I also have an Associates in Education. This associates degrees guaranteed a easy transfer process into the local teaching university.

I will need my Masters eventually. I do use my degree. I was just hired as a Language Arts teacher, so I will use both of my degrees on a daily basis.

I have a BA. I "used my degree" for a few years after graduation-meaning I worked in that field, then I was a SAHM for many years. I no longer work in the field of my BA but I use my college education every day.

I think my company used it more for a "weeding" out tool then any thing else.

I have to admit that I would never advise anyone to go to law school if they have to take it all out in school loans. I don't think starting off life $100,000 in debt is the way to go. I got a fairly large scholarship for law school, so it was totally worth it for me. I'm sure I wouldn't feel that way if my student loan payment was $500 or more dollars a month.

I would agree with you. I know people that have $2000/month student loan payments after undergrad and law school with the high hopes of making $1,000,000/year like they did on LA Law-that just isn't reasonable. In our area you MIGHT make $80K right out of law school if you end up with a top firm and have top grades but most make about $50Kto start and maybe after 5 or so years MIGHT be making $100K if they turn in enough billable hours.
