We are leaving in 2 days for our WDW vacation at the Beach Club. Nana, Pa Pa, son, daughter in law and 3 year old grandson. We have purchased spray misters and those cooling neck ties. Of course we will be downing lots and lots of water and staying in the shade as much as possible. Anyone have any other tips?

go in December
:rotfl: :rotfl:
JK!

go back to your resort mid-afternoon for naps and swims to refresh

Stay in your room. :rotfl: JK! Honestly, this is exactly what we do. When it is just too darn hot and so muggy outside. We just don't go out. We go early in the morning and have lunch and head back to our resort. We go out later when the sun is not strikingly beam straight at you.

Yes, we do take our misty fan. Wear light clothing and flip flops!!! And we stop at the shop to get some cool air from the A/C.

For the kids I freeze juice boxes (if you will have a fridge) and keep them in a small cooler with the water. As they drink one box, I take out another so it can start thawing (or about 30 minutes before the will want it). The boxes also work as ice for the water. I also freeze 1/2 bottles of water and then fill with water. The ice will usually last most of the day and I can add fresh water to it as needed.

We also do a lot of shows of indoor rides during the peak heat. Some of the longer rides we enjoy to cool off are Small world, buzz lightyear, Tranist authority, Pirates. MGM has lots of shows that are indoors.

If anybody in your group has long enough hair, wear it up so that the air can cool your necks. Just be sure to put sunscreen on any exposed area. Don't forget the exposed ears either they can sunburn very badly.

I second freezing water bottles. I did that on a daily basis when I lived in AZ. Remember that you can overdo it with water too. Drink enough but not too much.

If you start to get overheated put the neckwraps around your wrists or run cold water over your wrists. It helps alot to bring down your temp.

If you do not wear open shoes, bring a few extra pair of socks and change them when your feet start feeling really hot. Let those dogs air out for a bit. Remember though, that as soon as you take off your shoes your feet will swell and you may have a hard time getting your shoes back on.

I always go in July or August, so what I do is just go out in the rain (its guaranteed to rain in the afternoon). Then I go to an indoor attraction that's air-conditioned and by then I'm freezing and the heat doesn't seem so bad.

I take my long hari and put it up in the morning WET. it does alot to help keep cool.

We use spray deoderant on our feet befor eputting our shoes on. We also change shoes half way through the day.

Take advantage of the long park hours. At midday, go back to the resort, have a rest, take a cool nap and then go back in the evenings and stay until you are ready to drop. Also, if anyone gets even remotely snippy, know tis the heat and time for a break.

go early before its too hot. We went in June and it was humid and 90+ degrees everyday with afternoon shower. Trust me the afternoon shower was welcomed. Some days the heat got to us and our two kids after having lunch we returned to resort to rest or swim. Returned to parks for dinner and evening hours. Warning the evening hours are crowded because everyone is doing the same thing.

Also our kids enjoyed those mister type play areas in the park to cool off. Totem poles that mist by Aladdin's magic carpets. Donald's boat was another fun area to cool off in the water that shoots out of the floor etc.

Great advice, everyone. I'll try to keep our group in air conditioning or the pool during the middle of the day. Thanks for the tips!! :flower:

Take lots of breaks during the day. If possible go early morning and stay later at night. Take the breaks during the hottest parts of the day. It worked well for us when we were just there in May. Hope this helps!

My daughter wanted an umbrella she saw in China while we were in EPCOT. I bought two. These were the best purchases I have ever made. It was great for keeping the sun from beating down on the tops of our heads, and they're a great visual for finding each other in the crowds.

Just got back from July Fourth and here's what we did to keep our "cool".

My husband sweats his shirts through and through. He took an extra one and changed mid-day. Said it made a world of difference. I always take a washcloth in a Ziploc and will wet myself down in the bathrooms. That's pure bliss. I did NOT take a change of socks and regretted it later (even today). We did put the "stinkies" into another Ziploc.

Take plenty of breaks. Even if you're not in air conditioning, just being out of the sun is plenty. There are plenty of spots all over Disney World with shade. At Epcot, check out the African Outpost. At Animal Kingdom, the Dawa Bar or the Flame Tree BBQ seating area. At Magic Kingdom, the old Swan boat area. At MGM, the area next to Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground.

Hi there!

I just wanted to chime in with agreement over leaving the park at the hottest part of the day. Take advantage of the pools!
If you are not staying on site or even just don't want to leave, consider making a sit down lunch reservation for the afternoon so that you can get out of the heat, relax, stretch out, and enjoy some great Disney dining.

Oh, and the Flame Tree BBQ seating at AK is great too! If you go down the path and pass the first set of seating there is another area that is right on the water with an amazing view of Expedition Everest. You also can hear Tarzan rocks really well down there! hehe

Plan on having a nice long lunch, and possibly strolling around somewhere with AC (I like eating at the resorts and checking out the rooms and facilities). Also, another option would be to hit Downtown Disney during the hotest part of the day. I was affraid of it being "unbarably" hot in Late June, but it wasn't that bad.

Drink Alot, Relax, and don't get overwelmed with the mouse :earsboy: and you should be just fine!

Since it's going to be hot, you're going to be sweating. Contrary to popular belief, water is *not* the best thing for you at this time. Drink things like Gatorade or Powerade. This will not only quench your thirst, but will also replace all the sodium you lose when you sweat. This helps you stay hydrated.

You not only want to wear light clothing, but light colored clothing. Stay away from dark clothes...they attract heat. Light colors, particularly white, will help keep you cooler.
