What is your favorite sling/carrier?

My all time favorite carrier for a baby is the Baby Bjorn. I resisted buying it for my 1st b/c of the price but after my 2nd was born I splurged and have used it for my 3rd & 4th as well! My DS17 mo is still not walking and we recently went to Disney, I had to look into something that would hold him, 32lbs! I found the ElllaRoo Mei carrier and I love it! I could carry him in it for long periods of time and he loved being close to me and up at eye level to see everything. I used it the whole week at Disney and never had a problem. HTH

I used a Bjorn with my son and hated it. Hurt my back and he didnt look too comfy in it. With my daughter I did lots of research and settled on several Hotslings. I loved them! No adjustments neccessary-just toss it on and slide in dd. She would sleep all day in it if I let her. In stores, people didnt realize I had a baby in it, and they didnt try to touch her. A saleslady in Walmart started following me around thinking I was shoplifting. DD then stuck her foot out and the lady laughed before going back to business. On a cruise ship tour, the leader kept counting and counting coming up one person short. I pulled open the pouch to show her dd and the entire bus was blown away that there a was baby so quietly tucked away. I also used it to go to the movies. She would just sleep away once I nursed her.

As she got bigger, I just changed her positions-cradle, kangaroo, hip (you can also use back). I bought a sateen, hemp (loved both but hemp was my fav) and a solarveil for in the pool, on the boat and at the beach.

I bought an Ellaroo Mei Tai but never really used it as it wasnt as comfortable and easy to use like the Hotsling.

I was about to post about Hotslings, and I see someone beat me to it! Hotslings are awesome...definitely the best carrier I have found. I've had a Bjorn (one son loved it, the others hated it), a Ergo (too low on back...the baby couldn't see anything), a Maya wrap (too complicated for me!), etc. Hotslings were great from newborn to about 1. Then my kids are just too heavy and want to walk. Plus, there are so many patterns, it's a fun to buy as clothes, lol! Good luck!

I used a Baby Bjorn for my 2 boys (3 and 5 now) and loved it. But, my boys were light and I only used it until they were about a year old. DSIS has twin boys (8 mos) and they swear by the new Baby Bjorn that has back support (which is even more expensive!).

However, I'm pregnant with my 3rd and am really interested in slings. I like the thought of breastfeeding the baby in there and being able to walk around. Also, since this is my third, we are always going to be on the go and I think this will be the easiest way to get around. I have already bought an adjustable fleece pouch from Kangaroo Korner and I can't wait to use it. If we (me and the baby) like it, I will probably look at getting a solarveil Hotsling for the summer (I'm due in March). DH will still use the Baby Bjorn because the slings are sized and probably won't look very "manly" on him.

I'd love to hear what other people are using, too. It's a tough decision. I wish you could find them in stores easier so that you can try them out.

Go with a pouch you won't be dissappointed! I have also tried the bjorn and the maya wrap and once I tried a pouch I was only dissappointed that I hadn't gotten one sooner! My personal new favorite (after MANY hours of researching!) is from urbanpouch.com. The pouches are AWESOME and the costumer service is UNBELIEVABLE!! I have two of the reversibles and I just LOVE them! Can you tell I am a pouch girl?!?

We bought the "active baby bjorn carrier", and loved it. LISAVL, our 2nd dd who is 13 mths is delayed in walking. Her therapist set a goal of 16-17 mths. We'll be using the Baby Bjorn in a few weeks when we go to WDW. I never appreciate it so much as when we have to wait in line somewhere!

We have an adjustable fleece pouch from kangaroo korner and I really like it.. it's easy to breastfeed with it. It's also really easy to put dd in it and take her out.
Now that she is 23 months old and 25 lbs, I'm trying to find something to put her on my back, so I might try a mei tei or something similar soon. I can still use our pouch, but after a few hours, my back starts to hurt.
But for newborn through 18 months, I loved the kangaroo korner pouch. There are many different holds and it was so great to have her close to me.

I'm looking at Goo-Ga .... Any feedback on these? Thanks for all the feedback on the Ergo, Bjorns, etc. The maya wrap does not look comfortable, and I really, really, seek comfort.

My first pouch was a peanut shell from goo-ga. I got the microfleece which is great for winter! It is very soft and comfortable and is great first pouch as it has a little more give then the cotton ones. For my next pouch I tried the urban pouch as stated in my previous post. These are a bit cheaper than the peanut shell and the pouch part itself (where the baby lays or sits) is a little bigger which I really liked since I had a bigger baby. I don't think you would be disappointed with any pouch you choose!

I had good results with my Sling Ezee last year with DS, and I liked it. There are times when you can't use the stroller, so any baby carrier or wrap that works for you is something you want to bring.

I love love love my ergo. I've tried the baby bjorn and a sling too and whilst the sling is easier to nurse in (I nursed my son on It's a small world!), I love the ergo for how my back feels after carrying him around!

I was a huge fan of the Baby Bjorn Active Carrier with my daughter. I used it all the time, pretty much everyday for the first 4 months of her life. And I still like it with my son, and he seems to like it too, but he is a much more frequent/erratic nurser during the day that she was so I want to be able to nurse him while we're walking around the parks during our WDW trip next month so I bought a sling. I got the New Native Baby Carrier and I like it and he seems to also. I'm able to feed him in it, which was my main goal so I'm happy. The only thing is that it tends to slip off of my shoulder but if I just fold the top in half it will stay in place.

I was also thinking of a Moby Wrap, but never saw one in person so not sure how easy they would be. I liked the versatility of them though.

I have 2 Peanut shell slings goo-ga.com , and i also have a Baby hawk Mei Tei babyhawk.com , i love all of them!!! I also have a Angel pack Mei tei http://angelpack.com/ . I have heard great things about the Beco as well..i really want one..lol http://ecobabies.com/ ..you can also check out http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/ you can find out a TON of info aout any kind of carrier there..there is also a FSOT (for sale or trade) forum, maybe you can find something you like for a bit cheaper...good luck!

I was also thinking of a Moby Wrap, but never saw one in person so not sure how easy they would be. I liked the versatility of them though.

I borrowed a friend's Moby Wrap to check it out a few months ago because I was looking for a compact, but sturdy baby carrier for my heavy toddler (32 pounds). It didn't really work for my DD (she was too big), but I thought it was pretty cool and definitely versatile. It was a little complicated to get used to at first, but after I put it on a couple of times I was used to it. To me, it seemed like it was sort of a hybrid between the Bjorn carriers and slings. We used our Bjorn a lot, so I was desperate for something when she was too heavy. I tried using a sling, but I was nervous that my DD would fall out. I definitely thought that the Moby Wrap held a baby securely. HTH!

I had a Bjorn and I liked it, then I got a hotsling and I couldn't get the hang of it (but I think I got the wrong size). I also added a Mayawrap later and i wish I had gotten it sooner. I loved the mayawrap. I can still use it occasionally to carry my 30 pound 20 month old in a hip carry! Good luck with your decision. I know I was overwhelmed by the choices, too.

I don't know if there is one perfect one for everyone. I had a Bjorn for my first and liked it (liked, not loved). I tried using it for my 2nd son and he HATED it. It put way too much pressure on his pelvis and his legs would turn purple after being in it just a few minutes. I tried a sling with him but just couldn't get the hang of it just right so I never felt secure with it. Once he got older I found a hip carrier I could use but again, not often and not for really long periods of time. My cousin has a Patapum carrier that she uses for her DD (my Godchild ). I carried her in it a bit during our last visit with them and it seemed great! She was 5.5 months old and is a BIG baby. Very comfy for me and she seemed really happy in it. It's similar to an Ergo. It is supposed to do a better job of distributing baby's weight so as not to put so much pressure on their hips and pelvis. Like an Ergo, baby can only face towards you though. My cousin says her DD (now 9.5 months) is fine with that. She turns her head to look around and doesn't seem upset by it at all. It can be used on your chest or your back. My cousin is like 5'6" and very petite and she says she has no problems with strain on her back with her DD.

I'm due any time now with baby #3 (been having contractions for 4 hours tonight but they seem to be dying away now) and am looking at carrier options too. We will be at WDW in Feb so I want something for him then. I have another sling to try for at first but keep going back and forth on what kind of carrier I want to get.
