Mine are staying at the hotel for the kids activities. We loved what AKL offered. The other thing my son loved was making the mask at Epcot with all the country hanging things and his name. What ideas can you give me since we are spending 8 days there for non attraction overlooked type things.

Usually my friend and I pick a character, this past month it was stich, and see who does the best job of "stalking" him/her. I ended up with the most pictures this year.

We also decided to start taking pictures of random flowers. May sound silly, but we had a blast, including having to get into some pretty funny positions to get just the right shot. :hippie: I almost ended up in hourglass lake at one point.:rotfl:

All of the entertainment! Around the World Showcase in most countries (candy lady, acrobats, bands, comedy performers, etc), Jamitors in Future World, Streetmosphere, Mulch Sweat and Shears, etc, at DHS, bands around MK, musical performers at AK

My favorite non-attraction thing is the Streetmosphere characters at DHS.
I just love watching all of them.

Bubbles is my favorite (blonde starlet in long purple dress and big hat) We saw her on her trip in 2005, she sort of hung out with us and really had a good time with my niece. When we went back a whole year later in 2006, we were walking up towards the hat and she came running over
"It's the Ohio girls! It's the Ohio girls!" -- she remembered us! I couldn't believe it!

My family always tries to do candy around the world, then somewhere we forget and start eating in the park instead of back in the room. My other fave is riding up front on the monorail. I get such a rush when we pass another train, or go through the contemporary

We like to rent some type of watercraft...it's fun to get out on the water and cruise all over between the MK resorts.

Does eating count?? popcorn::

Actually, I love resort hopping and taking pictures off all the different and unique things at the resorts. I also like to collect pins of the resorts too even if I haven't stayed there.

I enjoy exploring different resorts and seeing all the detail, theming, etc. I also love to just walk around Epcot's Future World at night and soak up the terrific atmosphere the park displays when lit up. And definitely Downtown Disney (though that may count as an attraction).

I recently discovered walking around World Showcase after Illuminations is at the top of the list. It's really a very nice, relaxing stroll. The background music and lights make it even more enjoyable.

I also just like visiting resort lobbies and taking in the atmosphere. This would include visiting the resort bar, or sitting in the lobby relaxing and listening to the lobby background music. Stopping by the gift shop and picking up a small souvenier.

There is so much to do outside the parks. We like riding bikes at Ft. Wilderness or OKW. Walking around Downtown Disney. Visiting the resorts and riding the monorail. Playing miniature golf. Boat rides. surry ride around the boardwalk. golf range and hit some balls. If you have a car things to do are endless. visiting the malls. the town of Celebration to eat and shop.
Visit the beach at Cocoa or shop at Ron Jon's.

I planned one trip to Disney for a week without 1 day in the park. We never ran out of things to do and had a great vacation. We had a car so it made
it easier.

I realize this was an unusual trip, but I wanted to see if it could be done.
Being 64 I had no children to please, just ourselves. Being DVC members
we go to WDW often (4 times a year) and that also made it easier to avoid
the parks on 1 trip.

We are taking the 3 grandchildren next June and I am gong to need all the energy I can get as well and tips and advise.

Hope to see everyone on the cruise and maybe this Dec at the meets.

John

We always plan a "resort day" where we pick a few resorts that are easy to get to and check them out last trip we walked the epcot resorts

we ate lunch at ESPN checked out all the stores on the boardwalk, and looked at the pool, then did the same with swan and dolphin, and yacht and beach.

it was fun to see what was the difference in between the Y&B and the S&D!

Watch the fireworks and water parade from the Poly beach. It's a great way to reconnect while you're waiting and there's no crowds after.

In fact I'll be doing this in about a week, hopefully with sushi carry out and a lovely wine or sake.

These are the personal favorites of the Neurotic Disney Family:

1. Resort hop
2. Street entertainers on the Boardwalk at night
3. Rent a surry bike on the Boardwalk during late afternoon
4. Watch a movie on the beach at the Contemporary
5. Ride the little boats that travel between the Contemporary, the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness
6. Ride the monorail in the afternoon when it is testing its safety mechanisms
7. Travel up and down the escalators of the Contemporary
8. Free arts and crafts in the Cub's Den at the Wilderness Lodge
9. Color pages and make leis at the kid's table in the lobby of the Polynesian

DH loves to sit in the lobby of the GF and listen to the piano player during the day, and the band in the evenings. It's a great spot to people watch! :scared:
