I'm sure this has been asked before but doesn't hurt to bring it up again. What is your favorite movie scene? I have two that stick out in my mind.

One of my favs is the bar scene in Top Gun, the dialogue between Goose and Maverick is something I recite in my sleep. The scene right after when they meet in the hangar and discuss "communcating" is hilarous too.

The other scene I love is from my favorite movie. At the very end of the Godfather where Michael kills all the heads of the 5 familes, Moe Green, and his brother-in-law. Then he lies to Kay about it and she believes him till right afterwards when she sees him in his office being formally greated by his capos as the great Don, The Godfather. That scene still gives me chills.

So what are your favorite movie scenes?

I've got so many, but I love the scene in "Sixteen Candles" when Sam first sees Long Duck Dong hanging from the top bunk upside down and he says "What's hoppenin hot schtuff?":teeth:

LOTR:

Helm's Deep

Treenbeard/Fangorn Forest

Rivendell and the Council

the battles

The bond between Arwen and Aargorn

the friendship between the hobbits

Moulin Rouge:

Satine and Christian's first meeting

the can can number

"Come What May"

(spolier) Satine's death and Christian's emotions

Crash Davis:

Well, I believe in the soul, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter.
I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days................Goodnight.

Oh gosh there are so many but I really love in An Affair to Remember when Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr finally get back together at the very end and they are both crying. Ahhhh romance!

in place of the line you omitted, we used to say "... the Coke, the Pepsi..." ;)

the first fave that comes to mind is from Young Frankenstein where the Monster finds the old blind man, played so brilliantly by Gene Hackman. "Wait... come back! I was gonna make espresso."

at the end of the movie when his best friend in the world gives a speech .......makes me weep each time I hear it.....

Two automatically come to mind:
1. Office Space...the beginning scene where the white guy is listening to the rap station and rapping along...that's hilarious.

2. Monty Python's Holy Grail....the cows and chickens are being thrown over the wall...and the leader exclaims.. "RunAWAY....RunnnnAwayyyyyy"
Also love the bridge battle...guy has his arm cut off.."it's only a flesh wound" then both arms and a leg and says "I'll do you for that"...

"But Rhett, if you go, where shall I go? What shall I do?"

"Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!"

does that surprise you? lol

The last scene from "To Kill a Mockingbird" where Kim Stanely is narrating ("Neighbors bring food with death. Flowers with sickness and little things inbewtween") and the camera dollies in past the tree and up to the house. Atticus and Scout are sitting on the porch and the fall leaves are blowing and the music, oh that special music, washes over the whole scene.

Martin Sheen completing his mission in Apocalypse Now while the bull is sacrificed outside.

Michael Corleone murders the the crooked cop in the restaurant in "The Godfather."

Hannibal Lecter asks Clarice about her childhood in "The Silence of the Lambs."

The scene in "Ordinary People" where Donald Sutherland tells Mary Tyler Moore "I don't think I love you anymore"...a heartbreaker.

Brad Davis escaping from the Turkish prison in "Midnight Express."

The Russian Roulette game in "The Deer Hunter"

A Field of Dreams- When Kevin Costner's dad comes back to play baseball with him

Jerry Mcguire- In the end when Tom Cruise does that "the world is very cynical" speech to Renee Zellwegger. I was a blubbering idiot.

When Michael Coreleone hugs Fredo, and you know he's going to kill him..

When Lorraine Bracco sticks the gun in Ray Liotta's face and tells him to "wake up, Henry" in GoodFellas

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - When Alan Rickman says to Daniel Radcliffe - "Mr. Potter, our new found celebrity....." and spaces all the words out just so.

And keeping with Alan Rickman, when his character of Jamie watches the Juliette Stephenson character with her new love at the end of Truly Madly Deeply. Still sobbing over that one too.

Thats it for now, I guess. :)

Yeah, I got a DH who has zero tolerance for chick flicks. :p

The Usual Suspects

Where Verbal Kint limps away from his interrogation and slowly his walking becomes normal and he shakes away his limp hand. All while Kujan is figuring out the entire story was fake.

Just thought of another one, at the end of West Side Story and Natalie Wood is crying and then confronts the other gang members. Man was she wonderful in that movie. You guys are coming up with such good ones. Now I wanna go to the video store and rent all of them!

One more:

All those corridors in The Shining. Jack at the typewriter.  Still shivering some 20 odd years after seeing that movie.

Jaws: when Richard Dreyfuss is trying to get the "fisherman" to come in off the overloaded boat, and then turns around and says under his breath, "you're all gonna die"...too funny...

The Wedding Singer: "Information that would have been useful YESTERDAY!!"

The ending scene of Casablanca with Rick and Louie.

The scene in Casablanca when Rick's at the bar talking about of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world.

The ending scene of Gone With the Wind with Scarlett saying "Tomorrow is another day".

Then end of How To Marry a Millionaire when Tom lets his new bride and her friends in on he's not exactly poor like he let Schatze think.;)

I love that Bull Durham scene that monkeyboy posted.

The scene in Yours, Mine and Ours where Helen and Frank get to talking in the station wagon when they take his date home.:teeth:

The scene in Toy Story 2 when they're in the vent trying to find Woody. Also any outakes after that movie are hysterical, especially Kelsey Grammer's outakes.:p

The scene in Jerry McGuire when Dorothy tells Jerry he had her at hello.:lovestuc

Gone in 60 seconds when Nicolas Cage's character and Angelina Joli's character are talking about which they like more-stealing cars, or....I like how Nicolas answers that question.:p

Steel Magnolias, when Dolly Parton turns to Daryl Hannah and says: "It takes a lot of effort to look like this"!:jester:

TC:cool:
