What is your favorite loop?

Thought a thread like this might help out some people that are new to Fort Wilderness to see what loops are popular and why.

I was going to post a poll but you can only do a maximum of 12 choices, so that's out.

So what is your favorite loop, and why?

I like the 200 loop. The sites seem to have more privacy than in the 100 loop, but it is still really close to the dock. It was nice being able to walk back to the campsite after a day at the parks and not need to worry about getting a golf cart.

We like the 300 loop because it is the closest preferred pet loop to the settlement. Just a quick bike ride to the boat, free refills of my FW mug at Trails End and sitting on the porch, ahhhhh the memories!

Ditto here......The best of the prefered no pets loops IMO

Right now it would be the 300 preferred pet loop, but after next week I might change my mind. It will be our first time in the 800 loop because we thought that the sites really looked bigger than the 300 loop and a really nice walking area for our dog.

Well, this is my first time here, so I can't say I really have a favorite loop. I do like the 1800 loop because we don't hear the buses or main road traffic. We are tucked away in the back where it is fairly quiet at night. I really like the big dog walk area that is only a couple of sites away. It is nice to have a place to take our dog instead of him going to the bathroom at our site. I think I would request 1800 or 1900 again.

Our's is the 1100 loop. Close to the Meadows area, very shady, and private. Plus the sites are nice size. :cool2:

Our favorite loop is 100, mainly because of the proximity to the marina. But since it's not a pet loop we won't be staying there any more.

700 is my favorite - preferred pet loop with nice size sites and close to the marina. 300 is a close second - also a preferred pet loop, but the sites are a bit tighter.:thumbsup2

Happy Camping!

I agree, my favorite loop would probably be one we hadn't stayed in since I was a kid until last year, the 800 loop. Lots of really spacious sites, the comfort stations can be a bit of a walk if you're on the fringes of the loop, and it's not as close to the marina as the 700 loop, but still within a walkable distance for sure.

We were recently in the 900 loop and really liked it. We were closer to the back of the loop. Very little noise, close to the comfort station, close to the Meadows area etc. Having done quite a bit of scouting, I think we'll always request the 900, 1000, or 1100 loops. Just a great location.

Personally, we like the 1400 loop, specifically Little Bear Path. We've always liked that it's close to the Meadows, Movie, and swimming pool. In addition it's nice that the kids can ride the scooters or bikes around the inner loop and always be in view and not have to contend with any cars or golf carts. As they get older we'll probably migrate towards the Marina.

Gosh, this is like asking me to pick which one of my kids I like the best. I love them all!

We used to always request the 1400 loop. Specifically, the kids loved the sites which back up to the campfire area. I'm sure a lot of folks would not like this, but it is fun! I also agree with the person above about the inner loop (Little Bear) we camped on it a lot, and love the set-up.

We have stayed on the 300 loop a couple of times. There are some nice sites on there, but we kind of got small ones both times, and felt crowded in.

For Spring Break 2006, we were on the 800 loop. Loved it. We have requested this loop the last few times we camped, and loved it, except for our most recent visit. I apologize to the pet lovers for what I am about to say, but on our last trip (in March of '07), we had a site (854) toward the end of the loop. We were surrounded with folks with dogs. The people camping across from us had a little dog that would not stop barking- even when they yelled at the top of their lungs "SHUT UP!", and trust me, they did that a lot. That little dog just stood inside the screen door of the trailer all day and all night, and barked up a storm whenever anyone walked by. That thing gave me a headache! Then, one of our neighbors to the side had a cocker spaniel that they locked in their trailer all day, and that poor thing barked from the moment they left early in the am until they came back from the parks at night. The thing literally never stopped! You would think he would take a nap or something, but never! At least his barking was muffled, but it was still annoying. So, I am not sure about pet loops anymore. The problem with that is that there aren't many non-pet loops left. This really is the only time that we had this kind of experience. The folks who were camped closest to us on the other side had a big golden retriever, and he was a great dog. Never made a sound. They didn't even have him on a leash or chain, and he stayed right there with them.

For Thanksgiving 2006, we were not able to get ressies for a preferred loop, and ended up on the 1000 loop. That loop was wonderful. The sites are big and far apart (at least after the first few in the loop). That is a nice loop. We might try it again.

We have camped on the 200 loop only once. It is a great location, but the sites seem cramped.

We have camped in 900 a couple of times- like it too.

I agree TCD.........when the owners leave so does thier common sense..

I sure hope the pet loop expansion stops....I love 300 but I swear it smells especially in the dry spells of jan. and feb.......

I wish more owners would pick up after thier loved ones....

:crazy2:

You can always make a complaint if there is a loud and constantly barking dog, I've heard of Disney handling it before.

Don't worry, there will always be loops that are pet free, although I understand your concerns :) There are what, 5 pet loops now (or is it more?). 5 loops out of 28 loops (although that counts the cabins as well so it's not really fair) isn't really taking over the Fort with pet loops. It's just that more people now travel with their pets, and people are more likely to be repeat visitors if they can bring their pets and not have to kennel them. Once again, it's all about business :)

Our favorite loop was 800 as well as I mentioned. Luckily we haven't had any issues with constantly barking dogs during any of our stays. I'm glad that there are more pet loops for people to choose from, remember when it used to be just 2 loops in the back corner?

We didn't have a dog then, but I always felt bad for those people. As long as people are respectful about their dogs and others, I love the fact that Fort Wilderness allows pets.

They are after all man's best friend! :)

Any thoughts on the best cabin loops and why? I haven't requested a cabin loop for our July trip since we've not stayed at FW, but I'd love some info on them. (Especially if there's a loop someone didn't like!;) )

Which loops are preferred? We had 209 last year (it even has it's own grapefruit tree) but for our next trip we reserved "preferred" but requested something different. We're taking the golf cart this time so something further from the marina would be perfectly fine.

We aren't taking pets so is there anything preferred besides 100 and 200 that aren't pet loops?:)

Loops 100 through 500 are prefered, as well as loops 700 and 1400.

Loops 300, 700, and 800 are pet loops within the preferred loops (although Disney sometimes adds various loops based on demand).

Thanks Colson. What about 400 and 500? If I'm correct, they are across the street from 100, 200, and 300? How are they on space and privacy? :)

I can't keep the preferred loops straight from the full hook-ups anymore. Disney has upgraded some loops that used to be full hook up to preferred (l know 800 is preferred now, but hasn't always been-I know that I personally tent camped on this loop back in the day, and it was not preferred). But, I know 1000 was not preferred when we camped there this past Thanksgiving, and I am pretty sure that neither is 1100, 1200 or 1300. So, I don't think your statement that 700 through 1400 are preferred loops is correct.
