What is your favorite longhouse at the Polynesian?

I am going in a few weeks, and I am trying to figure out if I should request a longhouse or not. I was wondering if you had a favorite longhouse, and if you always request one when you go. Also what floor do you like, and why? Lastly if you make requests, how do you do it? I spoke with one CM who gave me the Poly's phone number and told me to call 48-24 hours before our arrival to make a request. Is that what you have done?

We are getting soooooooo excited! :dance3:

Oh, I almost forgot! My kids want to bring their wii with them to play in the room. I was looking at the photos of the rooms, and it looks like there is no place to plug in a game system. Did you bring a wii or another game system, and were you able to plug it in to the tv?

We are staying at the Poly also. I have decided to leave it up to chance for longhouse selection. Instead I made 2 requests.....one for a balcony or patio, and the other for connecting rooms.

We have never stayed there before, so have no real preconcieved ideas other then the ones heard here....by only me. The rest of my family is pretty much leaving all the planning up to me.

i am letting the kids bring thier media players and one handheld game for the plane....but I think wii would be too much, I would rather spend my time at the resort exploring and taking the atmoshpere.....we have all the time in the world to play the wii at home. OMHO

We just got back and we LOVE the Rarotonga...Love it, love it, love it..We request it everytime. It's close to the pool, the GCH and has beautiful scenery...Here's some pics to get ya going...;)

We always request the Tahiti building. It is farther from the GCH and dining, but closer to TTC for easy access to the monorail. The rooms are a few square feet larger than some of the other longhouses, which may be helpful if the kids will be playing the Wii. There double sinks in most of the bathrooms making easier to get everyone ready in the morning as well. This building's mousekeeping has always been very good in our many trips here.

We like a ground floor room even though we sometimes get noisy upstairs bunkmates. It is nice to be able to enjoy the patio and the quietness of this building location-you will enjoy the peacefulness as the kids play video games;) .

The Volcano pool and GCH are only 7-10 minute stroll, the TTC is about 7-8 minutes from the building also. The quiet pool is less than 5 minutes if you cut through Tokelau. Tahiti is close to the beach, where you can snag a hammock and watch Wishes.

Have fun :)

The Wii will easily hook-up to the front inputs on the television. You can't see the inputs in pictures as they are hidden by a closed silver panel at the bottom. There is an electrical output on the desk next to the dresser with the TV, so it's an easy connection there also. We always bring our portable DVD player and hook it up!

I like Tokelau. It is centrally located and the rooms facing the quiet pool offer a side view of the lagoon and Castle.

Rarotonga. It is right next to GCH,and centrally located to the pool and everything. Last trip we had 2nd floor facing the quiet pool. We loved it. :thumbsup2

We also leave in 4 days for our first stay at the poly. All of the info on this site is very helpful. From what i have read it looks like this weekend coming up will be booked solid and then pretty much lighter crowds during the week. Fingers are crossed for some high 70's for the entire stay.

We stayed in Tahiti in 2004. It was great! We had a 3rd floor room w/balcony facing MK. We could just go downstairs and relax on the beach. We watch the fireworks from our balcony and from the beach. I loved being able to walk out the end door down the stairs and to the boat dock to catch the boat for MK. Also, loved just being able to walk right over the TTC to catch the monorail. Very convenient. It was farther from the GCH than other longhouses, but if your family is healthy it is not a bad walk. We were back and forth everyday, no problem.

We've stayed in Tokelau, 1st floor facing the quiet pool. This location was very convenient to the beach, pool, and GCH. We requested this same longhouse in June 2007 but were assigned Tahiti. We had 3rd floor, facing the gardens. While the walk to the GCH was longer, the walk to the TTC was very convenient. However, if I had to choose between those two, I would choose Tokelau.

I asked for Tokelau to be noted on our reservation and we were granted our request. I did not ask for anything else but wound up with connecting rooms to my SIL (actually all 4 of our rooms were placed next to each other!)/ 1st floor (room 1943!)/ directly across from the quiet pool! :cool1:

:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc This was an EXCELLENT location...we walked to the TTC just about once a day and it was a nice walk...the bus stop was RIGHT THERE and being on the first floor was such a bonus because we would just walk out and meet with the rest of the family every morning. :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

For a lagoon view it's a tie between Tahiti and Tuvalu. I like the lagoon views in both longhouses. For a garden view I prefer Fiji or Samoa (facing the volcano pool). I do request a longhouse each time I go and my request is usually made through my travel agent. I also reiterate the request when I check-in. :-)

The LG flatscreen TVs have an instrument panel where you can plug in all the a/v outputs for a Wii (or camcorder, or iPod, etc.). :thumbsup2

Ground floor in Tuvalu, on the water. You are right at the water's edge, and can sit out on the little patio with fruity umbrelly drinks while you watch the water pageant parade thingie late at night.:thumbsup2

We stayed in the same room in 2005! It was a great room and very convenient to everything! It's neat seeing it again!

I highly recommned Tokelau. Like other posters have said, it's centrally located and the quiet pool is right there. It's an ideal location for everything!

We were in Tuvalu once and really enjoyed it, too. It's pretty close to the GCH plus the little beach next to it is very peaceful.

Have fun!!

For GV I like Samoa and Fiji since they have lagoon views that are considered Garden View. For Lagoon/ MK view I like Tahiti. Tahiti also has 2 sinks in the bathrooms which makes getting ready easier with 4 people.

Since the Polynesian Resort is the 2nd oldest on the Disney Properties, we requested a recently renovated room. It worked out very well for us as the rooms are quite spacious and everything was so beautiful from the theming of the property, to the torches and piped in music at night. Enjoy your vacation.

Just a note....ALL the Long Houses have been remodeled so that should not be a concern for anyone on their reservation
