What is your favorite East Coast beach?

Grew up going to OC, NJ and also love the Outer Banks and Emerald Isle, NC!

Another MA girl...we love Outer Banks (about a 14 hour drive) and are going to Long Beach Island in NJ this summer
We rented a house in Beach Haven last summer., love LBI. Also love OBX, Duck is our favorite. This summer is a 4 bedroom condo right at the start of the boardwalk in Wildwood Crest. I've been there many times, since HS, and love the boardwalk vibe, except on weekends. It has the best boardwalk rides in the country! Plus, Cape May is right next door.

I grew up going to Ocean City, NJ. I loved the Boardwalk. We also love going to Emerald Isle, NC.

Sandbridge in Virginia Beach. Southernmost point of Virginia Beach. No hotels, a couple of restaurants. The way the Outer Banks used to be. Very peaceful. You can drive to the boardwalk if you want some nightlife, and shopping. Also, within an hour of Busch Gardens and Water Country in Williamsburg.

I love Carolina Beach in NC. Small-town beach feel, but lots of options nearby. Fort Fisher & the aquarium. Tony Silvagni Surf School/Rentals. Britts Donuts on the Boardwalk (only one type, cash only, and people stand in line for up to an hour for them - they are that good!) The beach allows you to use pop-up tents for shade (many others only allow umbrellas) and just Tuesday night the town voted to allow dogs on the beach during prime season before 9am and after 5pm. (They were already allowed on the beach from October-March). You can also take the ferry boat to SC and drive to Myrtle Beach for the day.

SHHHHH! Don't tell people! We love going to Carolina Beach. We usually go north of the pier, so we can bring our dog. This year, we even splurged to get the "park on the beach" pass--it's half price if you buy it in person during the first two weeks of December.

Assateague Island (Maryland) National Seashore. We rent a cottage in an RV resort near there, and it is close to Ocean City. I have been to beaches from Maine to VA, and that is by far my favorite. The wild horses are pretty amazing, and they come and walk, and even sleep on the beach.

This sounds AMAZING! I've got one DD who really wants to go to a beach, and another DD who LOVES horses. This could be the way to make everyone happy, and it looks like it's only about 3 hours away from my brother, who we plan to visit this summer. Sounds like a great side trip!

I'm going to start researching it online, but I'd love to hear more about where you stayed, and if you have any other favorite places to visit/eat when you're there. PM me, if you'd prefer.

For your age group kids Ocean City, MD would be a big hit. They have an awesome boardwalk. The adults in our family prefer Myrtle Beach or Nags Head/Outer Banks. Myrtle also has a lot to do, but no boardwalk that comes close to Ocean City, MD.

We like Cherry Grove Beach, S.C. (north of Myrtle Beach, so much calmer than MB) or Carolina Beach, N.C.

We love the Fenwick Island, Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City, MD area. We stay in Fenwick Island because we find it quieter than the other two and really like the beaches but we always visit the other two (more than once) during our trips.

I grew up in Maine and like Ogunquit up there. But I live in the mid-Atlantic now and love Rehoboth Beach, DE. There are midway games on the boardwalk, rides, mini golf on the roof and plenty of shopping and food.

I haven't been to Ogunquit since 2003 (my honeymoon) and we are finally heading back this summer. I am so excited! Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way are calling my name.

Ocean City, NJ is a family friendly place. It's a dry town, so no alcohol is served/sold on the island. I think it makes the crowds there different than other shore towns. If that turns you off, you can purchase alcohol just over the bridge, and restaurants over the bridge (Somers Point, Longport, Ventnor, Margate, etc.) serve too.

The boardwalk is great, and you can do day trips to other shore towns like Cape May (the zoo is cute there). They also have lots of activities. Check out their calendar online.

We love Ocean City, NJ!

Georgia girl here so I'm partial to the Savannah area. Jekyll Island is nice and you can rent a house there. Another favorite is Amelia Island Plantation in Florida, near Jacksonville. They have condos at the resort and allow pets so you could take puppy. It's a beautiful beach and a nice resort.

I second Assateague Island if you live on the Northern east coast, being right by Ocean City also. Our favorite place. Also living in MA you're not far from Jersey beaches which are gorgeous, really, and there is so much for kids to do. I grew up going to the Jersey shore, beautiful beaches and great memories.

Outer Banks, Emerald Isle, isle of Palms/Wild Dunes, Amelia Island. All amazing all great for families and couples alike. Clean beaches lots to do!
