What is Your Favorite Disney Movie???

I'm going old school, but I loved the original Swiss Family Robinson when I was a kid. We recently watched it with our boys and they loved it too!

My favorite of all time is probably The Rescuers. From my children's generation Monsters, Inc. is quite good as well.

It's so difficult to choose, but my favorites are:

Animated: Lilo & Stitch. It has a fantastic soundtrack (I find it very calming when tense) and a fantastic message about family. All of us in my family just love it. I still mist up when Lilo says (and then again when Stitch says it again later) "Our family. It's little, and broken, but still good. Yes, still good" and "Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten." :sad1:

Live Action: Mary Poppins. One of the first movies I saw on the "new-fangled" VCR in the very early 1980s, my mom used to sing the soundtrack to us at bedtime, I was "Mr. Banks" in the local children's theater, and we had a nanny growing up who was NOTHING like her, so it was fun to dream.

101 Dalmations (the original) because it is the first movie I ever saw in a movie theatre :)

I have to say that my favorite Disney movie is 'Mulan' with 'Beauty and the Beast' as a very close second.

I have 2 and really couldn't decide:

animated-Lady & The Tramp

non-animated The Ugly Dachshund

Interested, recurring canine theme here I didn't realize :goodvibes

Nice thread...interesting choices

Animated: it is a toss up between Lion King (still have a simba and pumba doll as well as a Lion King snow globe - passed on to the kids) and The Incredibles.

Non-Animated: Hands down Pirates of the Caribbean

This is a really, really tough question because there are so many Disney movies that I absolutely love.

But if pressed I would say Beauty and the Beast. Every single time we return from WDW we always watch Beauty and the Beast. Helps us to hang on to the experience just a bit longer.

#1 Old Yeller
#2 Mary Poppins
#3 Parent Trap... the original with Haley Mills, Only!!!
#4 Anything with Dean Jones or Dick VanDyke.
#5 "Hook" with Robin Williams...will watch it every time, when on cable.

I have more than a dozen Disney films in my "top 5", so there's quite bit to choose from. I'd have to say Lion King, hands down, for my #1 though. It was the first film I saw in a theater, and I spent much of my early childhood roleplaying Lion King with my sister and re-watching it so many times, I'm surprised the VHS tapes (for 1 and 2) still work at all. It was my first and longest lasting fandom, and even now I have the soundtrack on my mp3 player, and for my 18th birthday we went to see the live Broadway version.
After TLK, It's Beauty and the Beast (watched almost as much as TLK), Aladdin, and after that, it becomes hard to place the exact order of favorites for the animated Disney films. Some of those are Lilo and Stitch, The Princess and the Frog, Brother Bear, the Aristocats, Bambi, Bolt, and it just goes on.

My favorite Non-animated film? Pirates of the Caribbean!pirate:

Emotionally mine was always Sleeping Beauty. It was really my first true Disney love as a child, and all the sparklies from the fairy wands enchanted me. I must have worn out my "turn the page when Tinker Bell rings her little bell" Sleeping Beauty read along book ;) But I just watched it the other night for the first time in a gajillion years, and I honest to goodness fell asleep in the middle :scared1: What a traitor I am! ;) But compared to all the other movies, there's not much in the way of engaging dialogue, kwim? But I will always love her in my heart.

As an adult, my favorites are Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. But I have to give a shout out to Stitch and Nemo for best humor :thumbsup2 Though having just seen Princess and the Frog, I will say it's just as funny and charming as those two.

For me it is the Oldies. I love Sleeping Beauty but also the original Parent Trap and original Shaggy Dog.

Sleeping Beauty here...I love the fairies...Merriweather is awesome...and it has my favorite villian....Maleficent!
