Leaving lenses and tripods out - what is your favorite non "must need" extra you have for your camera?

Is it a favorite filter? Editing software?

DH is looking for Christmas ideas for me - and I am out of them believe it or not.

i guess my circular polarizer and photoshop e5

I love my Spudz 18% gray microfiber cloth - I have it hooked to my camera strap on the left side of the camera, where it is not in the way. It weighs virtually nothing and it's a perfect location to just pull the cloth out of the bottom and wipe off the lens, LCD, whatever. Plus if you're in a situation where it's going to be difficult to get the white balance correct, it doubles at an 18% gray card.

GameStop sells a smaller version for about $2 that's marketed for Sony PSP cleaning - I almost got one but I think it's probably a little too small for my tastes, but others might like it even better. It is certainly plenty cheap.

Another terrific product that's not too expensive is the Op/Tech Pro Strap, it makes your camera feel significantly lighter. This is a great size for DSLRs; for a smaller PnS, they make smaller versions.

Then there's camera bags... tripod bags and/or straps... a new ball head or pan head for your tripod... a Clamperpod or Gorillapod... an instructional book (specific for your camera if one exists)... etc, etc.

Favorite extras for me would be R72 Infrared filter, remote for shutter release and LowePro Off Trail 1 camera bag.

The accessory I use the most is probably my ultra-light monopod. Without it I could never get a lot of the low light shots that I like so much.

I'm going to have to vote for my camera bag. LowePro 100AW. Really small, doesn't hold much more than needed and keeps from packing it all. Came in quite handy on recent trips. I'll also vote for Furgas' bag. It holds camera and laptop, handy for the plane trip.

I would have to say the remote shutter release and the Gary Fong Lightsphere II diffuser. I used them together the other day when taking some holiday pictures of the kids. I got a few good shots but need to to another sitting. I now use the Lightshphere II about 95% of the time I use the flash.

I also really like the HP Photosmart printer I bought about 4 years ago. I prints very good 4x6 and under boarderless pictures. DW uses it quite a bit to print out pics of the kids to show friends and co-workers.

My wireless remote, my Speedlite 220EX, and my pocket-size tripod.

just remember to occassionally wash the cloth...second stinkin pair of glasses i got a scratched lens..this time after owning them for about a week( and didn't get into the glass store till my warrenty was over,,,3 wks later) due to not having my solution with me and using a cloth i hadn't washed for a few weeks ( insert banging head into wall repeatedly smilie)

I would have to say my new SB-800 Speedlight.

The Spudz has an advantage in that when it's not in use, it's tucked up into the pouch, out of harm's way, so it should stay cleaner than one that's folded or wadded up and tossed into a camera bag.

Of course, that means that it's probably a little harder to clean if/when it DOES get dirty, since it's attached to the inside of the pouch!

Here are a few ideas

1) Photoshop CS
2) Adobe Lightroom
3) Polarizer
4) Remote shutter release with timer functionality
5) A good camera bag
6) A good strap
7) A portrait grip and hand strap
8) More memory cards
9) A laptop for dumping pics while traveling
10) Good flash unit
11) Studio lights
12) Closeup filter or extension tubes
13) Graduated neutral density filter
14) Sensor cleaning kit
15) DVD Burner for archiving

I don't think I could get by without the battery grip and shutter release switches.
