What is your fall tradition?

I LOVE autumn!! For the last three years, I have welcomed fall this way:

At the end of the summer I go to Yankee Candle and get a Spiced Pumpkin candle. Then, on the first evening that feels like fall (air feels slightly brisk, you can almost "feel" the seasons changing), I make a big pot of chili, and I burn my pumpkin candle for the first time. I look forward to this for weeks!

This year I went to a paint your own pottery store and painted two chili bowls especially for the occasion. Can't wait to use them!

Let's get in the mood for fall...What are your traditions?

Well, we go to a local apple orchard to buy apples. We sometimes end up going every weekend, just to see what new apples they have. Later on, we will go there and buy our pumpkin (which we will never actually get around to carving)

We live in the city, but every year we take the kids to the country, about a 90 min drive.

Our whole family loves it. It's a whole different enviroment than what we're used to. The kids go on wagon rides, pick a pumpkin from the patch. They even have a cool play area made entirely of hay bundles. Not to mention the drive is quite scenic as all the leaves are changing color.

We'll be going in about 3 weeks

The first thing we do is pull out our fall decorations. We put the fall wreaths on the doors and above the fireplace. Next, my DD and I walk through the woods behind our home and she collects leaves. We try to guess what leaves came off what trees. We usually make collages with her leaves, by placing them between waxed paper, adding broken fall colored crayons and ironing them together. They make great fall decorations to hang in windows. Then to top off our fall tradition, we go to the Pumpkin Patch. My DD loves the hayride through the farm until we arrive at the pumpkins, at which time she chooses a few to carry home. After the hayride we do the corn maze and the petting area, where she gets to feed the farm animals. Fall is our favorite time of year and this year we get to do MNSSHP

We spend a weekend in the country to see all the pretty leaves. I also go apple picking! I love autumn

Well we all load up in the back of the truck and go on down to the Mack Donalds, git us a sack of them Big Macks and watch all the Yankees Snow Birds a com'in South. Yep you throw in a cooler of Bud and a mess of Boiled Peanuts and you got good o'l family entertainment.

I love fall, my favorite season. I get out my fall wreath and other decorations and get some of my favorite fall scented candles out. We love to grill out brats and watch football (Go Irish! ), make a big pot of chili, start a fire in the fireplace and throw a big party with lots of nice cold beer!

Fall has always been my favorite time of year! I clean my whole house from top to bottom. I put out all of my Fall decorations, inside and out! I love to burn my Yankee candles and tarts!

I bring out my bread machine, and make a pot of home made soup! Oh the cooking gets started here! I like to go to the apple orchard and pick apple's! Oh I just love Fall! We are still having hot and humid weather. For some reason we are above normal temps this year!

I also get out all of my Fall clothes and get this all washed up along with my winter things! I have already started!

Yard sales, craft fairs, and baking apple pies.

We go apple picking and make apple pie. I pick up pumpkins and mums for the front steps and begin to cover the flower beds with the fall leaves. During the fall we begin to use the bread machine again and sit on the deck and use the outdoor fireplace. I also love to take a trip to Salem, MA before Halloween.

We go to the apple orchard and the pumpkin patch. DD loves it.

Nothing really. It's still too hot. Fall is the only time I wished I lived further North!

We go to all the fall festivals: Renaissance, Maple Leaf, local, etc. We pick pumpkins, apples and spend as much time outside as possible.

Fall is my favorite time of year, and our anniversary is near the fall equinox. Every year we go to Maine for a long weekend. We go to the same cottage on the ocean. It has rowboats you take across the river to a beach that is perfect for taking long walks. It has a fireplace with plenty of wood if it gets cool. The porch overlooks the water, and there are big adirondak chairs to sit in. This tradition will always signify the beginning of autumn for me, and of course another year to celebrate a marriage I cherish.

We have the same tradition every year. Usually we head down to the pumpkin patch on Halloween night and wait for the Great Pumpkin to rise out of the pumpkin patch. We wait for him to fly through the air with his pack of toys for all the good little children in the world.

You have to be sincere in waiting for the Great Pumpkin and never say, "If the Great Pumpkin comes," but always, "When the Great Pumpkin comes." One little slip like that can cause the Great Pumpkin to pass you by!

My sister refuses to participate and just goes trick or treating. She will ask people for extra candy "for my stupid brother who can't come along because he is sitting in the pumpkin patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin."

Anyway... thats our fall tradition.

Personally, I dread having to get up an hour early because of stupid daylight savings time!
