What is your easiest go to meal with 6 ingredients or less?

Fajitas

1-lb chicken or beef fajita strips
1/2 cup salsa
1 onion, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced into strips
1-2 jalapenos, chopped
6-8 small flour tortillas

Wrap tortillas in foil, put in 350 degree oven. Stir-fry the meat, add in salsa. Set aside. Stir-fry the onions and peppers. Add meat back in and bring up to hot. Take tortillas out of the oven and serve immediately.

This recipe takes all of about 15 minutes. You can add sour cream or guacamole, if you like. And its just as good with shrimp, chicken or black beans!

I see you live in NYC, if you are near a Fairway, they make the best homemade Vodka sauce in the refrigerator section for $5.99 a quart container.

Oooo! Heading there now, then!

$15 for a plate of essentially pasta & sauce is ridiculous. :sad2:

Brush a fillet of salmon with olive oil, add some spikes.

Broil for 8-10 minutes turning once.

Done.

 I love fresh salmon, just curious as to what "spikes" are? I googled salmon spikes but didn't see aything obvious.

Grilled Quesadillas:

Soft tortilla shells
butter/margarine
shredded cheddar/monterey/pepper jack cheese (your choice)
black beans (we buy them in a bag in the refrigerated section)
sour cream
salsa

We take the tortillas and lightly butter them on one side. Take one tortilla and place in a skillet (buttered side down). Spread it with a layer of black beans, then top with shredded cheese. Place another tortilla (buttered side up) on top of that. Once the bottom tortilla is golden brown, flip the whole thing over and brown the other side. Cut it into wedges, and serve with sour cream and salsa if you wish. (and sometimes we add some chopped jalepenos for a little added spice.)

I know these sound more like an appetizer or a party food, but we make them all the time for dinner because they're quick, they're cheap, and they're very filling with the black beans! One tortilla each is all we need for dinner!

Yum! I have never heard of beans in the refrigerator section!:confused3

Thank you, AshleyW....the reason I didn't ask at first was because I didn't want him to think I was picking on a typo LOL It looks a lot like Mrs. Dash, which I used to use on all kinds of things (along with lemon pepper) when I was growing up.

LOL the great salmon spike debate of 2009 - it didn't occur to me that it might be a typo, being a foreigner I run across many terms on here that are new to me! Thanks for all the answers everyone :thumbsup2

Salsa Chicken:

Boneless chicken breasts, taco seasoning mix, salsa, shredded cheese.
In that order. Bake. Done

Mine is close to that.

Boneless chicken breasts in a crockpot. Pour jar of salsa over it. Cook.
Shred chicken with 2 forks.
Serve with egg noodles.

Another recepie:
boneless pork spareribs
Rub with black pepper & garlic powder.
Place ribs in crockpot.
Pour bottle of BBQ sauce over ribs. We like Sweet Baby Rays.
Sprinkle dried onion flakes over sauce.
Cook till done & tender.

steak salad
for two people
1 ribeye steak
1 bag salad mix of your choice
grape tomatoes
blue cheese crumbles
balsamic vinigrette

grill the steak-slice it thin across the grain-put the greens in a bowl and dress them lightly with balsamic. top with the steak. tomatos and cheese. serve with garlic bread if you want

Yummm

1 whole chicken in peices
balsamic marinade (1 c balsamic, 2 tbls thyme, 1/4 olive oil, minced garlic)
Red skinned potatoes
olive oil
rosemary and thyme

I marinate place the chicken in a ziplock with the marinade before I go to bed. The next day when I come home from work I place the chicken peices in a pan. On a cookie sheet I have potatoes drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with the herbs. Put them both in the oven at 400 for an hour, and voila, dinner is served. The best part is I come home, it goes straight from the fridge to the oven and I have an hour to play with my kids while dinner is cooking. The potatoes and the chicken cook at the same temp for the same amount of time.

One of my favorites! I can make one steak feed three people with that recipe. I also use the same cooking method for the steak then use the thin steak strips in a flour tortilla with sliced avocado, chopped tomato, cheese, and salsa. Delicioso!

I thought for sure someone would have said this already; tuna casserole.

We always have a can of tuna, a can of potato soup, and some macaroni or rotini or something on hand.

Penne alfredo with Salmon

We buy the frozen atlantic salmon from Costco.
Throw salmon fillets in a pan with a little olive oil, cook on medium high, breaking the fillets into small bits as they thaw. Once it's all broken up, cooked through, and partly browned, pour a couple jars of store bought alfredo sauce into the pan. Throw some cooked penne pasta into the pan, mix together, and serve.

Very tasty, very easy, and all the kids like it.

Or if we want to have an actual fish meal, we'll wrap the frozen fillets in foil, with olive oil, garlic, and dill, and throw the foil packets on the gas grill for about twenty minutes.

Pasta with Bacon/Tomato sauce

In pan fry chopped bacon in some olive oil, add a can of diced tomatoes(I add 2 I like tomatoes) sprinkle with Cayene pepper- liberally as I like this too!
Toss over the pasta of your choice.
My kids love this one too.
