What is your dogs name?

We have two Shelties.

The older one is Duncan- he's 8

The puppy is Rusty- he's 6 months

Chloe..that's the name she came with. We got her from our local Humane Society.

2 dogs. Dot is the Jack Russel terror. And Sam is the black lab.
Many barn cats. some named, some not.
We've had up to three dogs at the same time (too many in my opinion!!).

Wow, thanks guys! I love seeing all of the pictures of your pups! I'm getting some great name ideas too! Just an update, DH called the breeder where we got Jake and he has an 8 wk old yellow lab female ready now. Jakes mom is pregnant again and her pups will be ready a couple of weeks before X-mas if we want another chocolate lab. I definitley want a female since they tend to be smaller (Jake is big - 100 lbs.). I figure the fact that DH called the breeder is a good sign! Everyone else (my brother, my sister, my nieces) are all telling me I'm nuts for even thinking about getting another dog. When we first got Jake, we had our "first baby", a cocker spaniel named Putter and Jake just loved her. She died a couple of years ago and Jake really misses her. Everytime he sees another cocker walk by he runs to it because he thinks it is Putter. BTW, I'm going to check the animal shelter too. Wish me luck!

My dog's name is Liesl, named after the oldest daughter in The Sound of Music. The actress who played Liesl, Charmian Carr, wrote a book about the making of the movie. I wrote to her and she quoted me in her second book. We thought that was pretty and that Liesl would make a great name for a German Shepherd so we used it.

We have a tradition in naming our dogs which we think honors nicely the dogs who've left us before them. We use the current dog's name, then the previous dog's name with Kemosabe (the Indian word for friend) on the end. So each dog is special yet connected to all of our other dogs too. It seems to help us cope with losing one and getting another.

our dog's name is Spider. I always feel the need to explain...

dh did not want a dog - I wanted a Newfie badly. SO... he had a Collie when he was little and loved it (named it Lassie - dh has no imagination. )

In one of my more genious moves, I surprised him with a collie and named it Spider because he went to University of Richmond, whose mascot is the Spiders.

He still is not a dog person......

But we LOVE our Spider!!!

We have a brittany. Her name is butterscotch, my daughter wanted to name her buttercup but my dh said he couldn't possibly call a dog buttercup.

Our doggie up in Heaven is Doc (Yellow Lab, but was more on the red side), and our buddy at home is Bash (Golden Retreiver). Bash actually started off as Bashful, but it was shortened to Bash when he put a hole in the wall with his head when he was about 5 months old.

I am trying to talk DH into a doggie sister for Bash, as I really want another Golden. I guess the next one will have to be Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy, Grumpy or Dopey. More than likely Happy.

"Jebediah Beauregard Strange..A Fine Southern Gentleman" is our chocolate lab's name. There is a story behind it...
When in New Orleans in December my DD made a wish at the Voodoo Queen's grave(don't flame me on that, I told everyone that no one was to make a wish and apparently she did) but she wouldn't tell anyone what she wished for. In May, we got a choclate lab pup--then she confessed that this is exactly what her wish was.
We decided to add a southern type flair for our pup who was wished upon at a voodoo queen's grave!

We have a 9 yr old Silky Terrier named Shadow. And he is MY shadow. I took off a week from work when we first got him, to stay home and train him (or try, anyway ) I guess it was the same bonding thing that happens to ducks when they come out of their shells, since he has adoped me as his mom and follows me everywhere.....sleeps on the floor on my side of the bed, follows me to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and back to bed. He is constantly under my feet.
