What is your Disney shameful secret?

I just thought of another one:

I don't get the fuss about seeing the castle from the boat across Seven Seas Lagoon. :confused3

Nor me, I can't understand why people who are staying on-site would want to go to the palavar of parking, getting a tram, then the ferry (or monorail) to the Magic Kingdom - just get the bus, it takes you right there :rotfl2:

This is a great thread :goodvibes

I don't get turkey legs ~ the smell makes me retch

I hate the coating on Mickey bars

I wear Disney T-shirts both on holiday and at home, also Disney jewellery

Our home is full of Disney souvenirs

Me too Elaine ::yes::

Hahaha, that's ace.

To me any view of the castle makes it a magical view. Every single journey to the MK I was on 'castle watch'.

Really? We always get the boat, hardly ever the monorail. I love seeing the castle through the trees, we all love the anticipation:goodvibes

I think maybe it's because the way I read what other people had said about it I always thought you couldn't actually see the castle until you were on your way across the lake and I was disappointed to find I could actually see it while I was standing on the boat docked at the TTC.

  That would be us. The only thing I can say in my defence is I don't like waiting around at the hotel for a bus, not knowing when the next one is going to come along. Typing that out I realise it sounds ridiculous because we still have to wait for the monorail but... :confused3

I've thought of another - despite my better judgement and words of wisdom from TGM, I waited over an hour for TSM last November even though we already had FastPasses and I'd been on 3 times before!

Also I love going on EE by myself at night because it feels so magical. ;-)

DLC is the original Disney park though! It's the only park Walt saw. Personally, I want to visit every Disney park in the world, just to see how everyone does it differently.

Also, how can you "hate" somewhere you haven't even visited? I'm assuming you haven't been to either DLC or DLP, seeing as you said "I would never go there". :confused3

I know that DLC is the original, but to me it's just not what I invisage as Disney, when I was a kid and we were always promised that one day we'd be going to Disney World and we got the brouchures etc it was always WDW that we were thinking of, and I just think that even though it's not the original park, I think it's what Walt would have wanted as the 'flagship' he said himself that there was not the room in Anaheim to do everything that he wanted with Disney.

I see DLC a theme park, but WDW is (to me anyway) the heart of what Disney is, and what Walt wanted to achieve.

I've never been to either park, we did talk about going to California a few years back, and one of my friends goes to Anaheim quite a lot, but I just feel that I'd be comparing it to WDW, and to me there would be no comparison. WDW is where some of my favourite memories have happened, and the other parks to me are second best. That's just my opinion though, I know that a lot of people prefer the other parks, and that's great that they get enjoyment out of them.

I would never go, as I know I wouldn't enjoy it as much, I guess it may seem that I can't know that for sure because I haven't tried it, but then I haven't tried swimming with sharks either, but I never would as I know I wouldn't enjoy it.

I thought I'd hate New York, but went as DW wanted to go.
I loved it...:rolleyes1

:goodvibes

I think it's a bit different, as NY is a totally different experience, WDW and DLC and DLRP for that matter is essentially a very similar experience. To me nothing will top WDW, so I wouldn't even try (though reading cruise reports on this board, has really made me want to do that)

I loved NYC, but only went because I had a bit of a windfall, and was able to do it in the same year as a WDW holiday, I would never have chose to go on a holiday to somewhere other than WDW. My husband gets so annoyed at me, but I love WDW, why waste money on going on cheap package hols to europe, when for a few hundred pound more we can go on a holiday that I know I will love, rather than risk going somewhere that I won't like at all. When our kids grow up then I will consider trying new places, but until then, I would only consider going to Florida for my main holiday. That might seem really ignorant, but I'd rather be ignorant but happy that I've had a fantastic holiday, than be more enlightened to 'average' destinations.

Saying that, my uncle and his family went to DLRP two years ago, and are still complaining about how expensive it was, (but then they did have to get flights etc, as they live in Ayr) I know because the channel tunnel is inaccessible to us here, a lot of my friends find it cheaper to go to Florida on last minute deals than go to Paris.

I love WDW & DLP however MK was a BIG disappointment to me and after 3 holidays at WDW I still can't love it the same as DLP park,( I love epcot though), I spent the the whole day on my first day there saying "That is so much better at DLP".

Interesting how people see things so differently:)

That however, I quote for truth.

Our 3 night's at DLRP for new years cost the same as our fortnight at SSR (inc tickets but not flights) this coming August :scared1:

See I'll say that for some parts, then sometimes I'll say "oh this is better at WDW" when in Paris :)

Like you tho, I love both WDW and DLRP :)

For my trip to DLH cc in 2007i(Which also included flights) I could of got 2 weeks at a Mod, Flights tickets and free dining, I don't regret it though I would NEVER spend that much again for DLP no matter how much I love it.

The character meets are better at WDW and the entertainment on Main street, I also like the Liberty Square at MK however I don't like Fantasyland and Frontierland at MK though, these are amazing at DLP and look cheap & plastic at MK IMO.

To me personally I just don't see that it's worth spending the money to go to Paris. For the next few years we will be lucky to go on a trip to Alton Towers (as I am going to return to studying to qualify as a teacher, so we only have one income at the moment) so the thought of being able to really splash out once I qualify really keeps me going, I can't imagine risking that by trying DLRP or DLC.

Thanks, I haven't started yet, I have another baby to come first. :)

I took 'a year out' after getting my degree, but it turned into four years, so I need to get back to it asap. :)

What subject do you teach?

I'm a Spanish teacher in a fairly big secondary school! Only on my second year of 'proper' teaching (did two years of supply before sort of falling luckily into my job - lucky I did tho as supply teachers will soon be a thing of the past on the main part)!

What are you planning to teach? Have you had any experience in a school? I did a year as a teaching assistant (great job, not so great pay :( ) between my degree and my PGCE :)

:goodvibes

I'm planning on applying for primary teaching (I have done some work experience in a primary school, but years ago)

My degree is in politics and International relations, but because of practical reasons in being able to care for my children and study at the same time I'd have to do it distance learning (through the uni I got my degree from) so secondary would not be an option, plus in all honesty, I would prefer primary. :)

Okay back on topic :thanks:

I wear Disney ties every day to work :goodvibes

Listen to Disney podcasts on my drive to work :goodvibes
