My kids were at a year round school until we were redistricted. I loved the year round schedule, they started mid-july, went to school for 9 weeks, then had 2 weeks off (one week was used for remedial instruction if needed) 9more weeks, then 3 off for Christmas. It was great, 6 weeks off for summer vacation which was enough to relax, go to camp...., but not get bored and forget everything they had learned. I also loved being able to go to Disney at off times, end Sep/early Oct and Mid Dec before the Christmas crowds.
That sounds like a great schedule! I wish we would go to year round, but I don't see it happening.
We start the last week of Aug. and finish the second week of June, with a week at Christmas, Feb., and April, and a few long weekends in between. Summers are very hard for working parents. The cost of summer camp and the short hours are driving me crazy! It would be nicer to spread out the time off, and have more flexibility for those trips to Disney!
Our breaks cover all of WDW's seasons. (value, peak, holiday and regular)
