For those that have stayed there...how is the trek to the parks?? We are considering staying there in Nov...have only stayed at GCH and were spoiled...
so I am curious how the walk is to the parks.

sorry for all the questions...but I have not been on the boards planning a trip in a few months and I am out of the loop:thumbsup2

We did this in March....it really isn't a bad walk at all. Just cross the street at the light over to the GCH.......go into the hotel lobby & follow it on out in the DTD as if you were staying at the hotel. The walk is much easier than it is from the DLH (unless you always rely on the Monorail to go to & from DL).

The walk from the PPH is not bad at all if you take the short cut described by Laurie above. However, if you follow the signs on the PPH property as to how to get to the parks or Downtown Disney, you will be walking a long, roundabout way. Once you know exactly where you are going, you will see that the walk is a non-issue. A big deal is sometimes made (unfairly) of the walk to the PPH, simply because it's across the street from the main hub of activity. When you step out in front of the entrance to the PPH and see the GCH right across the street, and step in front of the GCH entrance and see the PPH across the street, you will realize how close it is!

I've stayed at PPH many times, and the first time or two we made the mistake of following the on-property signs. My friend used to dread going all the way back to the PPH for a midday break and then leaving the PPH to walk all the way back to the park gates at night. Once we started taking the short cut, she no longer had a problem with it and she began to like the PPH. Yes, we've stayed at GCH too, and the convenience of that is very enticing....but also very, very expensive!:rotfl2:

The shortcut with the least amount of walking is to cut through the parking lot and into Downtown Disney right by the AMC Theater. Hop on monorail. Win.

We were at the VGC in June, and then moved to the PPH. We just walked across the street to the GCH, then walked to DL the usual way through the lobby to the left, through DTD. It's just a couple of minutes to cross the street from the PPH, and then just pretend you are staying at the GCH and go your usual route. Quick and painless!

For us, walking through the Grand into DTD is the best for us. I do not like taking the Monorail into the park in the morning, there is just something so magial about walking through the gates, through the tunnel and onto Main Street.

Yes, I agree with this. I like starting and ending my day with walking through the GCH to DTD and vice versa, and I prefer to enter Disneyland through the front gates, starting at Main Street. That's a ritual for me, especially during the holidays when Main Street is all decorated. If I take the Monorail into Tomorrowland, it doesn't feel 'right' to me for some reason!:rotfl2: I don't feel like I have properly begun my DL day unless I walk under the tunnel and onto Main Street! (There must be a certain feng shui energy flow happening with that entrance or something!:rotfl2:)

thanks everyone...that helped. We know the GCH route well...so now we know to go through there.

I am hoping we end up at the GCH anyway...but just in case. thanks!!!

Yep, this is what we did too. Easy as can be - a nice, relatively quiet walk. Better than DLH in my opinion.

Only if you want to end up in Tomorrowland, and it's a total *fail* if the monorail is down.

I don't have a problem "ending up in Tomorrowland". And it's never been down for us when we've wanted to use it. A total fail? Because you can't just walk through DTD if for some reason you couldn't ride? Sure. Ok.
