Since it seems so many of us on here sell on eBay, I'm curious to hear some of your best sellers.

Here's mine:
Picked up a big Power Rangers Megazord thing at a garage sale for 50 cents. Sold it on eBay for $57!

Mother-in-law handed me a box of "Elvis stuff" she'd kept since her years as a fan in Tenessee since the late 50s, saying, "I don't think anyone will want this junk, but you can try." Inside were two snapshots, one from 1957, another from 1963, of the King himself. A woman who runs an Elvis museum won them both for, drum roll please, $1100.00! That sale got us to Disney World for the first time!

Cleaning out old junk a few years ago. Listed a game called "Dashounds" it was new in the box. Still had the cellophane wrapping on it. We figured we we would get about $5.00 for it. The game sold for $90.00! During that same auction period, we sold a new in the box wirehaired dachshund puzzle and it went for $15.00.

In my other Ebay post I had mentioned that my dad threw away an old Dr. Pepper sign once and I dug it out. I cleaned it up and replaced the light bulb for about 50 cents. We ended up selling it for $80.00. Blew me away that it would go that high.

My husband collects Hawaiian shirts and we bought one at the thrift store for $3. He knew it was a good one. would have never known. We sold it for over $300. We have made some good profits on old Disneyana we had from when we were kids.

Not one thing in specific but purses have done best for me. We have a thrift/resale shop here that gets Coach, Dooney, Brighton, Fossil, etc. purses all the time. I'll buy them for usually under $10 and sell them for sometimes four times as much.

I was at a yard sale where a lady had a old vintage Gucci wallet on the table. I asked her how much and she said
"I'm so tired of that thing, one dollar!"

I sold it for $58.00!

I was given a Disney Cruise Line stuffed doll collection in a plastic bag from the promotion guy at my radio station. I had it for a year then thought I'd put it up. It sold for $75!

My boss gave me a cute little bud vase that I had NO use for. I put it up and it sold for $93!

Now my tour de force! I bought an old ivory statuette from an estate sale for $1.00. It sold for $153!

I LOVE EBAY!

Two years ago I picked up a Homer Laughlin Coffee Pot at a yard sale. They wanted $10 but I got it for $6 :p Turned out to be a rare pattern and when all was said and done, I got $177.50 for it!

At another yard sale I got a medium sized lot of Occupied Japan Blue Willow dishes. I paid $2.00 for the lot. By the time I got thru listing them on Ebay I had gotten over $300!

Another yard sale find was a Sebastian Miniature of a local bank. Cost was 25 cents. Sold it for $140.

The big sales don't happen a lot but they happpen enough to keep Ebay interesting. :teeth:

Lets just say that I sold something I shouldn't have that I received a few years ago as a CM. But I got $400 for it! Not bad that I paid $0 for it LOL

I am new at ebay, and it just amazes me how high people will go for stuff that you could buy cheaper in the store. Some people just don't know when to quit.:teeth:

Wow, you guys are good!! I sold a game boy color about a year ago for 40 bucks. Not bad considering they were selling game boy advance in stores for 70 dollars. It might have been a rare color though, it was clear purple, and people seemed to be bidding on the few that were up on ebay more than any of the solid color ones. It's the only thing i've sold on ebay.

tricia.

Not exactly an Ebay sale, but a few years back, a pair of Popular Electronics magazines (January and February 1975) were routinely selling for $400. Someone kept buying up all the copies that were being offered. Being a packrat, I just happened to have saved these two issues, so I did the next best thing to selling something on Ebay. I contacted someone who had lost three auctions for those magazines. I know that it's against the rules, but I figured "what the hey". I ended up selling two magazines that each cost me less than 50 cents for $400. I threw in shipping and handling (and a copy of the December 1974 magazine too).

What makes these magazines so valuable? The cover of the January 1975 Popular Electronics magazine featured a photo of the very first personal computer, the Altair 8800. Legend has it that a young Bill Gates saw this magazine and it inspired him to become involved in programming.

I just wish I had more copies to sell.

My best Ebay sale was a Disney Pin that I paid $12 for and sold for a little over $50. I had 40 of those pins to sell (they only made 4000), but I barely managed to get rid of them before the demand for that pin evaporated. That was my first and last foray into being a pin shark.

I bought a copy of an art book called Recent Forgeries by Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn from LOTR). They screwed up and sent me 2 and charged me for two ($ 25.00 each). They would not take one back. Both of them were autographed by Viggo. I sold the extra one on EBay for $ 360.00 to a woman from Japan!

My husband has always done extremely well with Nintendo 64 stuff. But I'd have to say the best sales were when he decided to sell the Mickey Mouse train set from the 70's. One plastic box car went for over $300.00 :earseek:

I would have to say my Haunted Mansion event stuff.

Had whole family going so we had extra stuff sold 5 items, cost me 350.00 sold to one collector from overseas for 2500.00. Paid for our trip and things we kept.

Towncrier - if you get the right pin it is like hitting the jackpot.

Pooh67_68 - thank for the heads up, cleaning the attic I just found a whole box of old Nintendo 64 stuff. Maybe it will pay for next trip.

No great sell stories but some great buys.....like my 2000 Dodge Durango. YES....a vehicle for 15,500 totally loaded a year ago with 36k on it from a corporate lease. I love it and EBAY!

Weve had some really good ones. Of course I can't remember all of them but some highlights.

When we sold our house our real estate agent gave us a platter. (UGH I thought.. how ugly!) We sold it for over $100.

Just sold some Quezal lamp shades for $1250 that I found in my moms garage.

Sold a single antique postcard for $105. Got it in a box of 500 that I paid $50 (.10¢ each). Had a few others go for over $40. That was a great buy!!

I have had some things go for unbelieveble amounts of money for stuff I had no clue. Thats what got us started on ebay. I bought a great high chair at the thrift store that I liked so much better than mine. I put mine up for sale and got what I paid for it new ($70). I couldnt believe it.

Oh yeah..one more thing... My inlaws bought out a ladies lingerie store (about 8000 items) and gave the lady $800. (10¢ each). We sold the items individually (merry widows, girdles etc) for between $20-$40. (Mostly to men  no kidding!). We had repeat costumers for months. All asking us to please ship to them discreetly. (oh yeah I was going to write "Ladies Undergarments Contained Within" on the box  )

Last January I bought a number of Christmas ornaments at a department store for $1 each. I think the manager just wanted to get rid of them. They retailed for $25-$70 each. I sold one Lladro ornament for $73.00!!!

This sounds like "Dis Road Show" ...

I have two such stories. One Christmas, I bought a mini-beanbag "Christmas Tree Eeyore" at the Disney Store for $5.99 (give or take). Apparently, this was a mistake, supposed to be a gift to CMs (or something). I sold it for $110. Sadly, I had only bought one at the time.

My other thing was a CD. It was Michael Crawford in "Barnum." I think I paid $12.99 for it. It was apparently rare, and sold for $130!

That's about it. I've made smaller profits here and there, but haven't sold anything lately.

Wow! These are awesome!

This is more proof that eBay is a great side business! I am also amazed what some people will pay for some things!

I got started when my aunt arrived in Atlanta with a U-Haul full of junk from my Mom and Dad's home that she just FIGURED I'd want. I didn't even have any room for it!! I started by taking a picture of a pair of lamps my Mom kept in her guest room, which I know she got from K-mart. They sold immediately fro $28 and I thought...I can DO this!!

Of course it's a JOB if you want to take it on. I made lots of stupid mistakes in shipping, for instance, in the beginning so you can also LOSE money if you don't know how to play the game. I have since learned enough to stop that!

Now I can't help but go through people's homes and think "they're sitting on a GOLDMINE!" :earseek:

I've had luck at diffenert times buying and selling on Ebay. I've picked up Eeyore items for cheaper than I could buy in store. I've also sold some "unwanted" gifts and paid for 3/4's of my wedding. My dh had a bid war happen on a Rover beanbag where he ended up getting 80.00 for a 5.00 toy.
