What is your best beat the heat/crowds tip?

For the last few years I have travelled to Disney with my husband, my two sons (both under 5) and my parents during late July/early August. I have read most the of the guides (official and otherwise) and practice many of their tips. We have been lucky enough to reserve DVC villas each time so we have all of home's "luxuries" at our finger tips. We always go to the parks early and come back to the hotels for an afternoon rest... This year we will be going over fourth of July week. I am getting a little nervous. I am not too scared of the heat, we have handled that before. But are the crowds that much worse? To all of you fourth of July vets: What are some of your secrets for beating the heat and the crowds?

I equate 4th of July at Disney right up there with New Year's Eve there. It's actually worse on the 4th for us because it's so hot. You just have to get your mind prepared for the worse and then enjoy the best you can through the day if you must be there.

Actually, we've done it only twice because it's so horrible. We are avid Disney World fans and we are in the fanatic category now for all our visits there and I just don't recommend the park on that day.

With that said, if you must go then skip the parks for fireworks and enjoy AK on that day and relax for the evening outside the park. If you can this is a great day to secure a fireworks cruise; so, you can avoid the crowds and still see the magic that way. It's worth every penny. Keep in mind it's very hard to get a ressie for this at this point because you are past the 90 day time to get them.

I lose the magic on days like that; so, I rather not do it.

Others, may feel better about that day.

MarkandMattsMom... I have not been in July but I plan on going August 5th for 9 or 10 days. I see you have been during this time and I was wondering how bad the crowds are?

Thanks for the info..

hi Simba0319

we will be there at the same time we are going on the 5th. but we are only going for 4 nights.. I wonder what the crowd will be like..

Where are you staying.. we are going o the pop culture resort.. we have never been to that resort..

Hit the parks on early entry days. Stay until the kids get fussy.

Go back to your hotel/villa. Feed them lunch. Then it's nap time.

After naps, go swim. After swim, do a light dinner. Then head back to the parks for the evening, when it is a little cooler.

Since you go multiple times and "rent" your villa, consider joining Disney Vacation Club, the time share program. The money you spent on multiple trips could be better used by becoming an owner.::MickeyMo
