What is your AC set at?

I live in North Carolina and can't stand the heat & humidity. I don't know how you folks keep your houses at 80 degrees. Whew! My thermostat is usually set at 72 year round. Fortunately, my electric bill is reasonable so I can afford to support my "habit."

I think the reason we can keep ours at 78 is we live in a townhome and we are not an end unit plus I have blinds and drapes on windows. The floor fans really help too. But believe me, if I could afford it, I would lower my A/C to 74:)

I'm with Shelli_5. I live in NC too and it is very humid here. The temps are in the 90's and humidity >60%, dew points are high too.

We keep ours at 74 day & night. :)

It's easy. This is an area that's simple to cut back, so I keep more of my money. A little discomfort is worth the money to me. And after a while, you get used to it and it's not even uncomfortable.

I grew up in a house with no a/c and no heat (just one wood burning stove). Now, that was bad. I used to go to sleep with my winter coat and hat on; in the summers it would sometimes be so hot you couldn't sleep. Sadly, my parents still live in that house, but they have heat now at least.

We just had central air installed and have not gotten a bill yet, I'm a little afraid because we've kept it set at 74 and 72 at night.

81 during the day and 78 at night and we live in Texas where it is in the upper 90s for highs. Electric here is expensive, so unless we want a bill of several hundred dollars a month, we have to keep it high. Although, it doesn't ever feel too hot in here either(but we do keep ceiling fans on as well).

Yowza! I'm a Texas gal but that would be waaaaay too hot for us! But, I'm at home with the kids during the day. We keep ours at 76/75...

We have two zones. Upstairs is kept at 78 all day, which is pretty comfortable except when the sun sets and heats up one side. Downstairs is programmable is set at 78 when we're there in the morning and evening, and 83 during the day and at night (bedroom is upstairs). I find 78 really comfortable except when I'm doing something like lifting furniture or something else physical. Then, I might turn it down a degree or two for a little while.

Ohio with a ranch house about 2700 sq ft. We keep it at 80 during the day and 77 at night with ceiling fans on in all the bedrooms at night. If it starts to feel too hot I just tell the kids to play outside for a while and then inside will feel wonderful. This week we're enjoying perfect weather and all the windows are open!

74 during the day and 70 at night. Can't stand a hot house. I get grumpy....:headache:
74 in the day/72 at night.

I figure if I'm fortunate enough to have air, I'm going to set it at a temp that everyone is comfortable with.

I have mine set at 72F or so, today. It changes, but that's something I do not scrimp on. I'd rather cut corners in other areas. I'm from AK, so I do not do heat. Our house is about 5000k sq. ft, and the downstairs basement area is freezing cold. I need to adjust the vents or something.

I'm pregnant. It doesn't go above 74 these days :) I prefer 73 unless it is 100+ outside, then it goes to 72.

Normally I am good with 75 as a general temp in our house.

All that said, we pay out the wazoo for our electric bill in the summer!

I lived with my dad for the past decade. He would turn on the HEAT when it was in the 90s - "to take the chill off". I've been dying from the heat for years.

So my answer is - as cool as I want it to be! I live in a pretty small condo now so I don't care what it costs. In a hotel I usually set it about 68 - but probably 70-72 at home.

I lost my dad in December. Last July in the hospital he had the staff turn on the heat when it was almost 100 outside. Old men seem to get really cold.

I never turn my heat on in New Orleans (high rise so no real need to). I didn't turn on my heat in Arkansas until it got down in the 20s.
