What is wrong with the Disney Store

It was a SAD, SAD day the last time I visited the Disney Store. I went in expecting to at least find a nice collectible (not WDCC $$, even though our nearby store sells those), something for a gift. Or something for my 10 year old (who wears Disney stuff proudly, but is a Jr size or small adult) or something for myself (needed a Disney fix :) )
We walked out of there with NOTHING!!! :(
I have no small children to buy for......and that is all there was, up to size 8 for kids. My daughter hasn't been a size 8 since 1998!!
They used to have nice frames......NO MORE!!

BUT the CMs sure were PUSHING the Snow White pre-sale!!! Already have it!!! so get over it!

As much as I love Disney and used to love the Disney Store.........It is just SAD to see what has happened!!

I used to love looking for Disney Stores because each one was a little different.
Now they look like any other store in the mall. They look so sterile, a CM told me
this is the way they are going for all the stores.

I'm really going to miss those big 3D displays of the characters.

back in 95 i started to work for tds, they were all about making the guest happy, but in 1999 the store went to hell in a hand basket, they started to make us push items and then they wanted us to do things that was not what disney was about, we were to make all sales larger by adding on items on, and disnmey was never about that, at that point i left the store, i miss it but it has got worse, now they keep track of your sales and that is how you get hours, it is a sad day when disney has lost so much of there roots that they have turned in to the "typical " retail store.

I am a preschool teacher and used to go to TDS to get shirts to wear to school. The children love it when their teacher is wearing a character that they know and love. Now their is NOTHING for adults at the store. Last spring we were at WDW and I saw some Mickey hair clips but didn't purchase any. (I did purchase a shrit though!:D) I was kicking myself for it, but thought SURELY the Disney store will have those since they are technically a "children's item." NADA! TDS is not a fun place to shop anymore!

Ooh, MaryJ I think that you hit the nail on the head. The Disney Stores really aren't fun any more but they certainly used to be. I loved going to the Disney Store and I loved buying all kinds of things there but now I really couldn't care less. :(
