What is wrong with people?

I am at AKV and was talking to a worker for a while and they aske if we saw the fire earlier in the day. We were out for most of the morning so we had not seen anything. Apparently, a guest was smoking on their balcony and flicked a cigarette butt off it and started part of the roof on fire.

What they hell is wrong with people? I did not ask if they found out who it was and what happeded to them. But I hope they did find them and sent them packing with a hefty fine on top of it all.

While I'm not condoning what the people did (no, you shouldn't flick your cigarettes off the balcony) aren't the roofs made of some type of fire retardant material???? It's scary that a building that size could catch on fire from one cigarette off a balcony.

I see your point. I wonder if maybe there was something on the roof. I don't know. I do know that when we were driving back the other day on I-4 we could see and smell smoke and there was a state trooper there. I hope we aren't coming up on our annual fire hazard time. That makes me wonder if maybe the fire wasn't actually on the roof but maybe somewhere else, or like I said maybe there was some straw or something like that on the roof.

She did say it was a thatch roof that started on fire. The only place I know of that might have those roofs would be a grand villa and then it would have had to of come from someone staying on the concerge level, which is 6th floor. But I am not sure, I just know that she said thatch roof.

I wouldn't be surprised if the fire starter complained to disney about the smoke and wants a free vacay out of it...

Well if they had a Savanah view then they were caught on tape. At least they are if they do what they do at AKL. There are signs in the room and warnings about what to do and not to do, and to keep your curtains closed because of cameras that are there to watch adn protect the animals.

If they are savannah view, my guess is they did not see the sign about the cameras, because they failed to see (or just ignored) the sign right next to it about no smoking on the balcony.

The same thing happened to a friend's place. Someone in their building tossed a cigarette off the balcony and it landed in someone's planter. The whole building went up in flames, and the parts that didn't burn down were flooded from the fire hoses. Everyone in that building lost their home because of some idiot. Ash tray's people.

I'd go with IGNORED. They are one of those people that think the rules don't apply to them so they smoke where ever they choose to, just like so many other rude WDW guests.
