We are flying out in 10 days for our 2nd trip to Disney and to visit family for Thanksgiving---and I am completely NOT excited. In August I couldnt wait--now Im more bummed about missing the Black Friday Sales than I am about going to FL. I have not done any planning--last time I had a book full of info and our itenerary set--now I just want to play it by ear and not have anything set. The only excitement for me is knowing my dd 18mths will see Mickey Mouse for the 1st time--and she is Mickey CRAZY---she even peeled all our Mickey stamps off because anything Mickey becomes HERS---Mickey is fighting words--but I just cant get excited about anything else, except those silly black friday ads that I will be missing. Dh did offer to stop by Walmart on our way to the airport so I can grab the Gameboy for Christmas--but then I will still be missing the Target sale. Can anyone help cheer me up and get me excited and willing to drag our suitcases out for this trip???

Completely normal, honey. :) This thread comes up so often you just KNOW it's a normal reaction. And then those same people who weren't excited come back from their trip they rave about what a great time they have. So take heart, don't worry, and come back and tell us about how special it was. :)

And you don't HAVE to miss the Black Friday sales. Go to Orlando Premium Outlets, Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets, Mall at Milennia, Florida Mall, Prime Outlets, Festival Bay........!! They have 'em there, too. ;)

Just wait untill you get there. Your DD will be so excited you will forget everything else!

I know---I was just so pumped up last time --now Im just mad that we have to go again because I could be spending that $$ on Christmas. (Im almost done--just cant pass up sales)--our Christmas present to each other this yr was taking dd to Disney since she didnt go w/ us on our first trip in Aug.--we have 4 kids--3 are from our prev. relationships and we took all of them and did it on their speed--now dd is going to do it on her speed. When we fly in to FL--it will be noon when we arrive, then we have to get our rental car and get to my Aunts for Thanksgiving Dinner---will there be alot of sales the entire weekend? Now I am a bit more excited--guess I forgot there was sales in FL too -- just wont be able to hit them right away. Is anyone familiar w/ how busy Disney is after Thanksgiving?

We went on Thanksgiving a couple of years ago!! I was a little bummed UNTIL I saw the castle!! Man!!! It was soooooo much better than having some angry shopper hitting me with a buggy!!!!!! :rotfl:

This happens to me most times i am going away. I think it is because us women have so much to think about before we go have we got every thing and have we packed every thing we need. So until we are going out of the door we don't have time to get excited well thats me any way

This happened to me 2 years ago before a Christmas trip to Disney. I was feeling so bad and worried. "WHY can't I get excited about this trip?!!" I think I was just worried about the time and $ we were spending. I was also worried about my family's expectations. I also posted on the DIS and someone replied that the same thing had happened to them and they ended up having a great trip. Well, we DID have a great trip.

I bet you will end up having a wonderful time. Try not to worry and just wait til you see the signs welcoming you to WDW!! You will be smiling!! :flower:

Yeah, and only at Disney can you find some angry guest hitting you with their stroller! :rotfl:

I always go @Thanksgiving now and don't miss the sales at all. I'm too chicken to go out on "black Friday" so I'm not missing anything. I do love the Disney outlets @Premier Outlet mall & Belz so that's where I do my shopping Thanksgiving week. You're just overwhelmed by all the things we mom's are counted on for during the holidays. I'm sure you're going to relax and enjoy your family @WDW. Have a wonderful trip!

black friday is a war zone, time for me and my friends to put the war paint on and basically just battle in every store. weve done it since we were 16 just for the fun of it and the constant battles. we actually end up returning half the stuff we buy but its a lot of fun doing it. Plus there isn't a more savage opponent when it comes to shopping then the 30-40 year old moms, they are just brutal. Oh and yes we do put on war paint.
