or a discount code? not sure if i should wait and not book the aaa discount and just hope for the code...any suggestions???

If you're talking about booking room only AAA rate, there is no good reason to wait. You can always change to a different offer when it comes out. There are limited #'s of AAA rooms, though, so the longer you wait the fewer choices you may have.
If you're doing a AAA package, can't help you with that. I like booking direct with Disney, so we do AAA room only...until a better offer comes along.

Book the room you want now with the AAA rate. If a better discount comes out you can always try and take advantage of that one.

If you use Dreams Unlimited for your room they will check the discounts for you and apply the best one as they come out. One reason I love DU!

what is the usual AAA discount -- do you have to call and ask or is there somewhere to look online?

The AAA discount varies by season and resort type. They range from 10% off of the rack rate at all resorts during peak and summer seasons to 20% off of the rack rate at moderates and FC cabins during value season.

The easiest way to find out what your discounted rate would be is to call Disney for a quote.

You can search for Disney hotels on the AAA website. Just go to their travel page and select Hotels. Enter "Lake Buena Vista, FL" for the city (it used to work if you entered Orlando, but now it doesn't find anything unless you enter Lake Buena Vista :confused3). On the Advanced search options there is a drop down list for "Hotel Chain", select Disney World Resorts and you will get all the Disney resorts that are available for your dates and the AAA price. Sometimes it pays to check the AAA website first, because I had a CM tell me once that they had no AAA rates for my date and when I told her what was available on the AAA website, she checked again and found the AAA discounted rooms. I've booked the AAA rate a few times and later changed to a different discounted room or package offer. It's easy to do.

I went ahead and booked rooms (directly through Disney) w/the AAA discount for our June 2010 trip. We are staying at Pop for the first 5 nights and AKL Club Level for the second 5 nights. The AAA rate was 10% in both cases. I figure 10% is better than nothing... I hope a better code/deal comes along, and if it does I will call and have it applied if it is available... But if not, I'll be happy to have at least gotten 10% off... If you book rooms only, you only have to pay for one night's stay at the time of booking (we had to pay for 2 since we booked 2 separate ressies), and everything is fully refundable if you cancel at least 48 hours in advance....

We are AAA members, but I have never used the discount at Disney because there has always been a promotion/discount out for our travel dates that was significantly better than the AAA rate.
