Now you know why they can afford to have free shipping in the US! :scared:

But seriously, yep, that is why I don't bother to order anything from that store. It's sad and we've had to skip on several things we've really liked, but the shipping just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Sometimes I'll check ebay for the same item and the shipping is usually MUCH more reasonable. IF I can find the item that is ....

I think shipping to Canada on DS is outrageous! With our dollar being so good and so many Canadians shopping in the US and on US sites, I think they should really re-think their Canadian shipping prices. I'm sure so many more people would shop on the site if shipping to Canada wasn't so awful. It would be definately worth their while to lower the costs... our dollar is at par(or better), why can't our shipping cost be the same, or significantly lower than what it is now?! :confused3

I've only ever bought one thing from disney shopping. There was a pair of PJs that I just fell in love with and they were *really* on sale recently. I just had to have them! I had them shipped to a relative in the U.S. and then they shipped them to me. I saved SO much that way... it was $8 to have them shipped to Michigan!

Now, I consider it a blessing that the shipping fees are outrageous. I love the stuff, would have an order pages long, but I refuse to buy because of the shipping costs, so in the end, I save money. :rotfl2:

It is because they just lump Canada in as an international destination.

When I was in the park last year, there was a large item that I wanted to buy and I was going to have it shipped home, but shipping would have been $60:confused3 .

The CM told me that unfortunately Canada is considered the same as any other "international" destination and shipping rates extremely high even though it doesn't cost that much to ship here.

They make a ton of $$ of the shipping, if anyone actually uses it.

I just ship to a friend in the US and have her pass it along to me. Their shipping is pretty slow too, I have found.

One of the reasons shipping is so high is that they use UPS to ship to Canada. International rates for courier companies are quite high. On top of the shipping cost, you will probably be dinged with at least a $30 brokerage fee also. If they would ship vis USPS (postal service), it would be much cheaper and the brokerage fee is only $5.

Does anyone have any experience/feedback with shipping from here to US? I want a halloween costume, but would need it next week. I don't not want to spend lots on shipping, or I'll just ebay.......

I really like to buy sale stuff, so when we are going to disney I just order on Disney shopping, and have it shipped to my resort! :thumbsup2

How do you do that?

I just called the resort ahead of time and asked if I was able to have a package delivered there for me. ( I don't really think any hotel would say no...:confused3 ) Another Diser gave me the idea. People ship themselves packages from home, so it's pretty much the same thing....

When it came to placing my order I just used POP century's address for shipping address, and you just have to put in your arrival date after mailing address. The resort to which you want to ship to will tell you how they want the package addressed when you call.

There was a halloween costume I wanted for dd, but I refuse to pay 33 dollars for shipping.

I thought about getting items sent to our room (heard that Americans could do that), but never tried it...when I was looking at some items that I wanted, most of the clothes were sold out..sigh.

I have even emailed them about the outrageous shipping prices and basically got back a standard reply. It obviously is not up there on their priority list!

There is no way that I would pay that shipping cost. I would be ordering all the time if it was reasonable......so EBAY it instead.

Like another poster above said, on top of the $33.00 you will also be charged the brokerage/custom fees which are even more outrageous, so that $3.99 costume could very well cost upwards of $50.00!

Those are ridiculous shipping costs, I was taken in by DisneyShopping's $50.00 free coupon to use instantly offer if you applied for a credit card online and were improved instantly. Since I have very good credit, I applied, but didn't receive the $50.00 coupon and when I called both the credit card agency - who said I was approved instantly and the DisneyShopping number they both said they were sorry, but couldn't do anything about it. I've emailed them and not received ANY reply. In my opinion, the coupon is just a hoax to get you to apply online. So beware, don't apply for the credit card online for the $50.00 instant coupon it doesn't work and no one will help you:confused: .

I emailed them asking why they can not at least give us the US shipping value off the Canadian shipping when they are offering free US shipping and they said they would pass on the suggestion.

I'd definitely be buying more if they offered reasonable shipping rates to Canada.

Good luck, but it won't do a thing. They won't even send the catalogue to Canada by any means - I've tried calling, email and set up in my Disney profile.

I was upset with this too. My DD wanted a specific costume for Halloween that I could not find any where else. I wanted to order it but I refuse to pay $33.00 for shipping when the costume was only $24.99. That is ridiculous!

I spoke to a customer service "manager" a couple weeks back, about the shipping rates to Canada. Apparently there has been internal discussion about offering improved rates within North America (Canada included). Whether anything ever comes of it... guess we'll have to wait and see.

In the meantime, I make a point of shipping parcels when DH is traveling with work. There is just no way I can justify $30+ import fees for Disney merchandise.

Now if only the Disney Store up here starting price matching the US goods. I figure it's only fair, since our dollar is better :cool1:
