Obviously every guy who powers up the show (they ARE audioanimatronics after all), turns them down. nothing dirty about that at all!

My mom remembers doing the CBJ on her honeymoon (with my dad ) in 1980, and they both thought it was really cute. My mom liked it so much that when she went back with her mom in 1983 she just had to show her.

The first and only time I saw it was in 2007, and according to my parents it hadn't changed a bit (from what they remembered). I thought it was kinda lame, and I didn't understand it at all...I especially thought the "Blood on the Ground" song was weird...but reading through this thread has given me some good insight into this attraction. Before reading this thread The Country Bears were definitely getting skipped on my upcoming vacation, but after reading through this I'm starting to re-think that.

Sad that this is an issue when all our values are under constant attack from the PC crowd. Same people that would complain about their kids seeing CB would probably not object to them seeing a half dressed pop star rubbing their crotch...

If it wasn't for CB (and PoTC), I could never get my dad to go to MK. It's his favorite thing, and it's grown on me over the years. I think the PC thing was just a big fad and now it's gotten to the point were most people just have to stand up and say how stupid it is...

I agree for the most part, but it's not a fad, it's a social agenda. A bunch of people that don't understand anything decide that something is offensive and think that they need to shield the world from it.

In reality, a large percentage of the time, the action itself is offensive and tunnel visioned to the point of ridiculousness. One of the biggest offensive things, for example, is deciding handicapped is a very bad thing to be. If you are handicapped then you are less of a person then a non-handicapped person. So...lets change the word to "Challenged" because we all know that these people will want to spend their lives desperately trying to be perfect and acceptable, like we are. Such hypocrisy!

Anyway, ramble over...the best way to start to make a dent in all the foolishness is to point out, ridicule and see the irony of those actions.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh tell the story of a glutton who eats too much honey and has highly hallucinogenic dreams, possibly induced by drug use.
It's a Small World is one giant tapestry of generalizations and stereotypes. Should possibly be renamed to It's a Small Xenophobic World.
Mickey's Philharmagic features no less than two female characters in very revealing clothing. I'm pretty sure a number of sex riots break out among the five-year-olds on a weekly basis.

Tomorrowland: There are no people of color in any of these attractions. I'm almost sure this is a statement by Disney that a great cleansing will occur and that we will live in a future utopia of white someday.

If any of these things offend you, I'd advise you skip a trip to Walt Disney World and stay home in your bubble.

We're not crazy about CBJ but it has nothing to do with what they are singing. It's just very corny and needs a little updating I think. We will probably go this summer and I think I'm going to be cracking up when Big Al sings Blood in the Saddle because it's just so bad lol.

Last time I saw the bears show (last year), my mom and I couldn't make out much of what they were saying or singing - it was all garbled. I would have rather heard the lyrics! But, being a farm and ranch girl myself, this is quite a light-hearted and fluffy show. But you know, we still let our kids help out with all the gory stuff on the ranch (all that stuff that allows everyone else to eat burgers on a wheat bun) and you won't see THAT in any Disney attraction! Sure, the lyrics may be outdated, but I also don't think we are actually promoting pirates to pillage and rape even though we enjoy the attraction and the movies.

I... I don't think PC means what you think it does...

(PC - which is a decidedly stupid term anyway - originally meant having the politeness not to use vicious racial slurs out loud in public. It can be taken too far and this is what most critics have a problem with. "Too far" usually means honestly believing that your precious little hothouse flower of a child will be scarred for life by becoming aware through the tv that some women have larger mammary glands than others.)

they look is more important...o.k....I won't go into how this would be remotely a problem... and here I was liking CB and pointing out
how there could be other objections if you focused on other attractions. Maybe it's all about presentation because another poster illustrated things that may be objectionable and got

My point..each person has a choice..do what you want. But pay attention to what your children are exposed to in real life.

Rumor has it the imagineers for "Alice in wonderland" were on an acid trip, Peter pan shows them passing a pipe, winnie the pooh has already been mentioned, along with POTC, almost all princess movie envolves them getting poisoned .. Old thread (and one that probably shouldn't have been dug up) but the "OMG the Disney animators were on drugs, LOL!" is on my short list of Irritating Animation Myths That Refuse to Die.

In short, no. No they were not. Art Babbit was pointedly asked what he was on while animating "Fantasia" and he answered, "If you really must know, I was on Ex-Lax and other digestive aides."

It's also been said (I sadly cannot remember by whom) that "if you ever try to create a piece of animation on par with 'Fantasia' or 'Yellow Submarine' or whatnot while actually on acid, you'll be lucky if you wake up the next morning with anything better than a single crumpled piece of paper covered with red and blue crayon scribbles."

(Plus there's the whole "only children watch animation so if the characters smoke/drink/cuss/whatever, we must get righteously indignant instead of acknowledging that these films are for adults too" issue, but I think we've covered that already. To exhaustion in fact.)
