What is this "MAGIC" that Disney holds on us?

Okay my husband and I decided on our last trip to WDW in Nov. that this would be our last trip for about 3-4 years. (Because we're trying to have another baby) So we decided to go all out. We stayed at the AKL for 16 nights! And had the best trip ever. Well we were doing good. Not even thinking about going back for awhile and then the other night while flipping through the channels I came across the travel channel special on the top hotels in FL. and what was first AKL! And that quick little 3 min. show got the ball rolling now all the old disney videos from past trips are out, we're listening to our theme park music, and of course on the disney web site watching all those tear jerking commercials, and now I'm back again on the dis planning yet another vacation to WDW. Figuring out how much we have to save up every week to take onother wonderful vacation!
So I am wondering if there is anyone else out there that Disney has the same Magical hold on to? And why is it that you could put your foot own not think about going and a 30 sec. commercial can get you rearranging your finaces to go on another vacation?

You need help? I need help, Nicki!!! It is a magical pull, isn't it, but a good one. We could be 'obsessed' with a lot worse things in this world, LOL.

And why is it that you could put your foot own not think about going and a 30 sec. commercial can get you rearranging your finaces to go on another vacation?

And that is why the writers of those commercials get the big bucks they do.

I think we are all hooked because when we are there, we can forget all else out side the world. It really is magical.

Nicki, I sure wish I could help but trust me I am in the same boat as you. That magical pull is just too great for me and even my DH has given up and decided that it is just easier to let me go than to fight it.

LOL, so true Dan!!! Although in my case it doesn't take much more than just showing WDW for me to want to go back

I think WDW should give all DIS faithful posters a discount on every trip since we love WDW so much, we talk about it to just about everyone (Well, I do)

Just think: more discounts would mena we could go more often......... but alas just a dream I fear.

My own personal feeling is that Disney takes you back to your childhood and a more innocent time. A place that can do that is a powerful magnet.

So much has changed in this world it's nice to know you can go to a wonderful place and be a kid again (at least at heart). I remember my husband saying years ago we should go someplace else for a change but when vacation time rolled around I'll give you one guess as to where he suggested we go every time.

Working at Disney I can see first hand the magic it creates, not only for children but for their parents as well. There is no place like it and I'm so grateful to be a part of it.

Being able to enter the "world" and leave the "real world" behind. That is the essence of the magic for me.

It is clean. It is beautiful. I can avoid any contact with the rest of the world so as not to break the spell. There are countless things to do ... or not do! I am treated by the Cast Members like they really do appreciate that I am there. I eat good. I play and laugh. There is NO WHERE ELSE that I enjoy all of those things. It truly is "magical".

It reminds me that anything is possible. Where in the world can you go where one minute you are riding a flying elephant then the next you are watching Presidents speak? I think alot of it is that no matter how many times you go one can always find something new to do and find new favorites. Where old and young can do things together and have nearly the same feeling. I love Disney World and I'm glad I got the Magic.

I look at Disney like the fountain of youth. It lets me be a kid again and that's why we go back year after year. That's what made buying into DVC the right move for us. We know we have a home there until 2042 (and then good Lord willing we'll go back to hotel rooms if we have to).

I knew we weren't the only family out there NUTS for WDW. But it's nice to hear what the MAGIC is to everyone else. I love that there is a place for us NUTS to come to and share with everyone else. I try to share my love for Disney with my friends and they think I'm nuts. The really sad thing is our 2yo DD is as nuts for Disney as we are. She has her own little bank full of money so she can take her Mommy and Daddy to WDW.

Yes most of us are totally addicted here, and even in hard times like this with so much uncertianity in the world we can look forward to some get away time at WDW...do not worry about recovering Nicki ever...it is a good addiction...

Really, I have it figured out.

In the Buzz Lightyear ride - you know that sequence where you go through the tunnel and all the things fly by and mess with your eyes?? It's programming folks. Disney most likely has secret code in there somewhere. "You can't leave" "You must come back" "We love you" "Be with us"

Maybe this explains why that ride seems to break down so frequently. With the lower attendance, they really need to boost the programming this year. More time in tunnel = more vacation.

Seriously though, Disney is just easy. We don't have to worry about sippy cups or clean restrooms when we are there. Strollers are easy to come by. Food is relatively healthy compared to our local theme parks and ocean resort. The kids LOVE it, we LOVE it. With good planning, it isn't any more expensive than renting a house at the beach for a week.

We first went with the kids in April of '01, we thought it would be a once in 5 years kind of thing. Then we went in April '02, Dec '02 and are going again in June. First ride we will hit? Buzz Lightyear, of course!

I'm with Higgin on this one. Disney has some kind of subliminal messages that they are sending us. My family and I have been talking about it for years. Our theory is slightly different. We think there's something in all that water that they hit you with on the rides (and I'm not talking about just Kali and Splash--it seems like Disney hits you with water any chance they get). The water dries on your skin, and makes you want to return to Disney, and spend outrageous amounts of money on things you don't really need or want.

Seriously, I think the pull to the magic for me is that I can escape from the rigors of every day life, and forget about all of those little things everyone stresses about. I can just relax, and have fun, and do whatever I want. There are so many things to do, and see, and feel. Every moment at Disney is a unique and happy experience for me.

I think part of it's hereditary in my family. All of my siblings, many of my cousins, aunts, and uncles are hooked on Disney. We can't go there enough. One of these days, we really have to do a family reunion one of these days.

LOL, I have not heard that one before, susy, but sure sounds like it might have some merit. I do remember some Disney talk in religion classes all those years.
