What is this FREE DINING thing I'm seeing everywhere?

HI all--

We just came back from a week at WDW and I'm hooked! Since I was busy, I didn't check these boards and now I see a lot of posts about free dining? What's that all about? We spent an arm and a leg on food last week...

Hi Julie - Disney is running a promo right now if you book a resort package with them by 6/4/06 for stays starting on 8/13/06 you receive the Disney Dining Package included in your cost. You are entitled to 1 Counter Service Meal, 1 Table Service Meal (or Full Buffet) and 1 Snack per person per night of your stay. So for the 4 of us traveling in August for 6 nights we receive 24 food options for our stay to use at selected restaurants in the theme parks, resorts, and Downtown Disney. I'm just learning the ropes since we have never used the Dining Plan before, but it sounded like a pretty good deal and pushed us to book a trip in Aug. I'm sure the Disney veterans on these boards could explain it better, but that's it in a nutshell

Am I seeing it correct that one of the time slots only goes to Oct4th? We may be going on Oct 5th, of course

I hope I have it wrong
Do they ever change the dates?

The package runs from 8/13 until 9/30. It includes room, dining package and at least 1 day base ticket (though you can pick any number of ticket days that you want.)

For 2 adults at Pop for 5 nights it is only $573

While its a great value, I am happy the special is gone by the time we visit in October. I am paying for the meal plan... sometimes too much of a good thing ruins the experience. I've read in some posts that the nicer restaurants have been really crowded with this promo to a point that waits are long adn quality has suffered.
