Okay, I'm wracking my brain. There's a type of art, it's Spanish and they used to decorate sword handles with this art. It's done on a black (metal?) background and they inlay gold into a design. Disney sells items decorated this way, mainly Jewelry Boxes, with designs of the princesses and Mickey and other Disney Characters and I believe they are sold in the Arribas Bros. Store, but when I logged onto Arribas Bros. website, there's nothing there with this type of art.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Anybody know what it's called?

Thanks!

The store that used to sell it was inside Cinderella's castle. It was not done by Arribas to my knowledge. As for the name I know I'm going to get it wrong but I think it was demaske or something like that. I remember them saying they sent the cast member who did it to Spain for a year to train to do the art. Fantastic stuff but pricey. I don't know what happened to it since they moved the Boutique into the castle.

Thankyou daber! Thanks to your info I was able to expand my search and I found it. It's called Damascene, or damasquina in Spain. It's an ancient Moorish art from Damascus. I have one piece that I purchased in Toledo Spain about 20 years ago, but I've always loved the Disney pieces. You are right Arribas Bros. did not MAKE them, but they did carry them in their shop, or perhaps it was an adjacent shop, but I do recall seeing them there at Downtown Disney.

Anyhow, Thanks sooo much for your help!

This is what it looks like for those interested.

But do they still have them/sell them now that the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique is in the castle? If no one has the answer, I'll try to remember and find out next month.

the arribas bros store is now on main street - right hand side as you are facing the castle - I was just there last month

I have the collection of the princess mirrors from a few years ago before they made the handle smaller

They also have little treasure chests with the princesses that I kept eyeing but didn't get one :(
