OK I've read the passporter and now I'm hearing it here too...
What is this bit that they announce you name as you get on the ship?!?!?! That has got to be really cool-won't tell the BF about this one either...that will really be a nice touch!

Catch me up on this one...let me know the details....Thanks!

As you board the ship a CM will ask you your name(s) and where you are from and then repeat the information over a microphone to everyone else in the atrium area -

It is basically "Welcome the Mickey Mouse Family from Orlando" or something similar. When we were on the 7 day Western the beginning of the greeting was in Spanish.

Happy sailing!!

Dont get your hopes up. Weve sailed twice and they didnt do it for us either time.

They did this on the July 19 cruise and Mickey (for a time anyway) was up on the overlook waving to everyone.

I've sailed on 10 Disney cruises (I'm trying to catch up to Barb and Tony, but I feel like I'm spinning my wheels!) ;) and every time, they have announced us when we boarded the ship.

CamColt,
Are you sure you just didn't hear it?
I never heard it the first time at all & my husb. told me later "that was cool". I had no idea what he was talking about.

The 2nd time I was embarassed about it before they even did it & then as we walked in I heard the words, "Here we have...." & once again, it was a blur. And that time I was actually trying to hear it! (My family caught it, tho)

can they announce us by DIS name?
and here at last is

"Im going to disney and family!"

It seems like if you board after a certain time sometimes they have stopped doing the announcements. We've been announced almost every time but we either skipped it or they weren't doing it a couple of the 10 cruises I've taken. :)

Barb, yes, you can have them announce whatever name you'd like. :)

We have been announced on all 8 of our DCL cruises.....it is really cool, but if you arrive after about 2:00 or 2:30 the CM's have left the atrium to do other duties.

It is usually members of the Cruise Staff that do the announcing.

I don't know about the time, but the first time we were very early, and this past June we were there around 12:45. Both times we came to the port on a DCL bus.
