What is there to do in Nashville?

Going next weekend to see Green Day. I hate country music... so is there anything to do there that doesn't involve country music? We're staying at Loews Vanderbilt. Is it in a good area and is there anything within walking distance?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Green Day! You are so lucky! Too bad you hate country music because if I remember right every bar on the main drag downtown Nashville is country. They are fun bars though. The Grand Ole Opry is cool to see. I don't know where your hotel is so I can't help you with anything there. Have fun!

I guess I should note... DD17 is going with me so bars are out!

I"m racking my brain trying to think of the area you are talking about and I don't think that there is anything outstanding within walking distance of your hotel.

Second Ave is the best place to hang out with all kinds of clubs and bars including a coyote ugly if that is your thing. I don't know how long you are staying but Opryland hotel is wonderful to see and shopping is good at the Opryland Outlet mall. Cheekwood botanicals has a great new exhibit going and if you have some money to blow the Nash Trash tour is so funny. Those crazy women come here to post and host our big fundraiser.

Hope you have a great time.

no idea what there is to do but enjoy the show they are FANTASTIC live.

I've been to hundreds of concerts but I was completely blown away by them last month.

Yeah I've seen them many times... most recently in Dallas in August. No one puts on a better live show IMO! They know how to interact with the audience... a skill most bands lack.

Oh I forgot one of my fav things is the General Jackson cruise. I don't think that the dinner show is worth it but you can pay something like $15.00/pp and stay on the outsides of the boat and and listen to the DJ while enjoying the nice ride.

* Go see the Grand Ole Opry Hotel ~ It is AMAZING! The lobby and inner atriums are breathtaking.
* Opry Mills area has a ton of shopping and eateries.I could spend days there! www.oprymills.com

*General Jackson Showboat
*Nashville Zoo
*Adventure Science Center
*The Hermitage:Home of President Andrew Jackson

And more at www.musiccityusa.com

Have fun!

Thanks all! Can anyone tell me if taxis are easy to come by in Nashville? Or is it best to rent a car?

Taxis are pretty easy to come by but Nashville is pretty spread out. You might want to consider renting a car to save you a bit of money.

If you love music. You will love Nashville. I have been many times over the years, and even though I am not a country music fan (FYI: I was a big Sex Pistols fan), I love the live music in this city. Just go downtown and go into each and every little hole in the wall place with music coming out of it. Enjoy the adventure.
