What is the weather like the first week of May?

LOL yep 10-15 apart. Well that makes it tough!

As of today weather.com was showing May 1 and 2: 80 degrees, then low 70s for the next three days...and no rain! And since there tends to be little or no humidity in Disneyland, the 80 degrees will feel just fine!

Looks like Accuweather has adjusted theirs... They will have 1 day at 87 next week but the rest is below 80 so good to go!

We arrive on Mother's Day for 10 days. When we were there for Halloween and the 11 days after that, it was the craziest weather ever. Freezing (50's) during the Halloween party, then got into the 90's and we were so glad to be swimming in the pool. Always be prepared! I just pack fleece jackets for the boys since they are so lightweight and super warm.

Well, I am sad  to say that I had to cancel our trip for the first week of May. Due to DH cardiac issue, the Dr. is concerned for him traveling across the country. It would not be fun for him if he could not do any rides and had to be pushed around in a wheelchair the entire time so we talked it over last night and made the decision to postpone the trip. I called DVC this morning to see what they had for availability later in the year for a week and booked October 22 to 29th.

So to all of you who will be having fun in May at Disneyland, may tinker belle sprinkle pixie dust upon you. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I am sorry to hear that, but it seems it is best to be safe than sorry. That long flight from here to there is tough on the body.

Anything I can bring you back?

Were you able to work out anything with MS about your points? We never do the trip insurance, but this sure would be a good case to have had it.

I would feel more comfortable sticking closer to home with his Doctors here. We are a little bit bummed about it since we had not been to Disneyland in the springtime...always October and November, so I guess that tradition will continue.

MS was great. I told them the situation and they needed to get a supervisor to approve it since we did not purchase the travel insurance when we made the reservation. I had the CM explain the trip insurance to me anyways and this is what I was told...when you purchase trip insurance 30 days or more from your check-in date and then something comes up that you have to cancel your trip, you do not get those points placed back into your account, but rather a refund of the dues for those points. In my opinion, that is far less $$ than what the points would be worth. They also said that since this is the first time that I requested a cancelation in the 13 years that I have been a DVC member they would do it. :yay:

I also contacted Southwest and canceled my flight and that $$ is put into a travel holding account, which means I have a year from the purchase date to use it.

Still need to cancel dining reservations...

Thanks for the offer to bring me something back from Disneyland...just pixie dust! But when you do get back we should get together for lunch so you can tell me about your trip. I can at least have a virtual trip! :woohoo:

Sorry you had to cancel your trip. Best wishes to your husband and your family.

We will probably be back for Halloween, too! Start planning your costumes!

Thanks twopeasonepod. At least when we go in October the Little Mermaid attraction will be open and we get to trick or treat inside Disneyland!

I was at WDW with a friend last October and saw a couple in the cutest, simplest costume...he was wearing the Mickey apron and she was in the Minnie apron, with coordinating tops of course...so I also bought the aprons! We have the Mickey and Minnie hands too, just need to get the right shoes!

According to our local news (ABC7) you can expect a high of 88 on Sun. and Monday and 86 on Tuesday. Cooling trend starts on Thursday. High of 75.

So the first week of May will be hot, the first of the week. But it will cool down nicely at night.:goodvibes

I would check their website for local weather

Sorry you had to cancel your trip. But October is a wonderful time to go to DLR, the weather is pretty nice. Sometimes we'll have some heat in October. Maybe even some Santa Ana winds, but overall great weather.:cloud9:

Wow, DH's Dr. would not be happy with those temps if we did go.. She was very concerned about the heat and how if would affect his blood pressure which in turn would make his chest pain more pronounced. But since we postponed the trip to October I guess I will live next week through the eyes of the Dissers! Guess its time to put away all the stuff we bought for the trip :sad1:

Have fun everyone.

Hi all! I was checking the forecast for our trip next week 5/9-5/14 and the on accuweather.com it shows rain for Tues/Wed. I then checked weather.com and it shows no rain for those days, but sunshine. Wierd. I hope it doesn't rain, but if it does we'll deal with it:goodvibes

OP, good thing you didn't come this week. It has been really hot! We went to DLR about 5 last night and it was still pretty hot. Over 90. Today is just as hot though cooling is on it's way (it was foggy in OC this a.m.)

We just came back. We were there Tuesday (3rd), Wednesday (4th), and Today (5th). Sooooo hot on Tuesday! Low 90's, I believe. Felt hotter than that, though. We were there when it was over 100 in November and for some reason (humidity? crowds?) it felt even worse than that on Tuesday. Wednesday was hot (high 80's) and today was very nice. Warm, but not uncomfortable.

Southern California weather is just crazy. We went at the exact same time last year and wore jackets for 1/2 the day! LOL

wow, I have never heard of Disneyland having such hot weather like that...it's a good thing we cancelled or should I say postponed to October...

Husband is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, May 17th. Another blockage was found on a recent stress test. If you are a believer in prayer, I sure would appreciate some our way! :worship:
