This will be our first Family Vacation and our first trip to the US, we from Canada and before the kids used to Vacation in Portugal... So I'm not sure what to expect as far as the weather goes in December?
What kind of Clothes do I need for the kids? and Shoes?
Also will it be too cold for the Water Parks?

thank you !!

Hi Claud,

Winter weather in Orlando is very unpredictable. Normal highs for the first week of December are in the low-mid 70s and morning lows average around 50. But there are days when the tewmperature may be in the 30s in the morning and the 50s in the afternoon, and on the flip side it could get up into the 80s during the day!

You'll need to bring long sleeves and short sleeves, as well as some sweaters and jackets. There's really no way of knowing what the weather will be the week you are going until a few days ahead of time.

As for the water parks, usually only one is open that time of year, the other is closed for refurbishment. The last few years BB has been closed the first part of December, then it reopens and TL closes.

We were there that same time last year. Sweatshirts/light jackets were in order for mornings and evenings, but the rest of the day the temp was mid to high 70's. One day we did need to wear pants and a sweatshirt all day (cloudy/breezy) but the next day it was quite warm again. I have read of people wearing hats/coats/gloves in years prior for that same timeframe, but I think that was the exception rather than the rule.

We are going the same time as you! I plan on packing jeans, shorts and short and long sleeves plus a jacket and some sweat shirts. Sneakers and sandals too.

Went Dec 5 thru 12 last year it was as high as 88 one day and as low as 55 another!!!!!!!! 55 to me at that time of year is welcome living in New England and I personally was thrilled about the 88....I guess just be prepared, it also depends a bit one your tolerance level. The 55 degree day I had on a long sleeve tee and was ok, saw some people in winter coats!!! Good Luck !!!

We also bring hats and gloves after having to buy them one year because it was freezing(not literally). I have seen many a child and adult wearing a pair of socks on their hands as mittens. The weather is so uncertain that it is better for us to be warm than sorry. KWIM? :flower:

The above posts re: weather in 12/04 was what we experienced also. However, in 12/03...OMG, it was COOOOLD!!! :cold: We needed coats, mittens, and hats in the mornings, it truly was so cold! You just never know with the weather, so be prepared, and you'll be ok!

We'll be there too!! I plan on dressing the family in layers so we can peel them off as it gets warmer (hopefully!). I say this realizing that as the Mom, I will also be the designated Peeled-Off-Layer-Holder! :rotfl:
