What is the Super Saver Rate?

i booked november 09 for my october 10 stay at UO onsite.

when i booked, the AAA rate was $20 cheaper per night than the APH rate.

i keep checking and as of now, the AAA rate has increased.

both of those rates will change as the date gets nearer.
if the hotel (s) is not at 90% occupancy, the ap rate will come down.
four years ago the aph rate dropped drastically 5 days before my stay on site.

i am still on the lookout for the super saver rate.
in the meantime, i am keeping the AAA rate discount.

you might be better off joining AAA.
i pay $45 a year for my area for the membership.
i can get up to 35% discounted off my universal hotel rate with the aaa card.
i also can use it for 10% discounts for food and merch in the parks and hotel.
if i shop online thru the AAA site, i can get a bigger discount that way also.

i agree with you RIP.
the op might be better off with the AAA membership as the discounts will absorb the membership costs quickly.

I'm seriously considering becoming a member myself.

ETA - is there a way to find out the AAA rate through the website? I just hate taking the time to call over and over.

thanks

I can't get AAA - I'm not in the U.S. So do I have to keep calling to get any AP decreases, or will the rate update automatically in my reservation? I suppose I could just wait and call a few days before, and if I like the AP rate they quote me then, I'll buy the AP; otherwise I'll buy the $99 ticket if it's still available. There's a real chance it won't be, though, which is why I'm agonizing over this now.

You don't have to call, you can check the AP rates online. The promotion code is APH. I usually check once a week or so, as sometimes they will drop further only to get raised again if they book enough rooms. If you see the rates drop, call and have them apply those rates to your existing reservation, that way if they happen to raise them before you check in you will still get the lower rate.

For example, when I booked my room for March the AP rate was $179. Last week it was up to $225ish. When I checked today, it was back to $179, but there is no guarantee that, as time approaches (and HP gets closer to opening), they won't raise the rates again. And if they happen to drop them, you can always have that lower rate applied.

Funny, I tried the APH code the other day and got the same rack rates i.e. it didn't seem to register. :confused3 That's why I ended up calling, because I couldn't figure out how to get the AP rates to show up online. I'll try again in a while to see if I can get it to work.

You have to select "promotion" in the box just above it first, then put aph in the bottom box.

OK, I may have neglected to choose "promotion" first - I think I just put "APH" in the bottom box. Thanks.

you can get the info on the rates for your area by going to
www.aaa.com

you do not have to book with them to get the discount.
i never book thru aaa, i do it all myself.

on the loews/uo website, i list AAA in the promo box.
if you call, they will have the AAA rates for UO for the entire year.
i did not see the AAA rate for my time period by using the website for uo.

i do not know where you live so this advice my not be useful to you.

if you are in canada, the CAA is the same as AAA in the states.
if you are in the British Isles, they have an equivalent to AAA that is honored at universal.

you can buy the $99 ticket now and upgrade it to the AP once you are at the parks. even if you used it for one day to enter the parks, you will get the full credit if you upgrade it.

that special promo price will be going up soon.
buy it now.

if you booked with the AP rate for the room, and later the price for ap drops, you must call to modify the rate to the lower one.

it is not automatically done.

Mac you can't get the AAA rate on the Loews website for the Universal hotels. You can get it for the other Loews hotels though. If you go through the universalorlando website to book, they don't have the AAA drop down box at all.

I'm in Barbados - can't get any version of AAA.

I didn't realize that the $99 tickets were upgradable - I guess I just figured since they were special discounted tickets, they wouldn't be. In that case I'll buy mine now and upgrade when I get there if it's worth doing.

travelocity has a aaa discount for rooms listed next december, but loews website does not....can you call hotels now and get aaa or do they release closer to date, would rather book directly

WOOHOO! SO glad I subbed to this thread! I just reworked our 4 nights at RPR to 5 and will be paying $131 a night instead of $175! Even with having the rental car part of the time, that is a HUGE savings!

On the minus side, when I called to change our 4 nights at Nick Hotel to 3, they said they would have to cancel the whole stay and rebook at a higher rate...boo...so I told them to forget about it. Now I need to find someplace else for the first part of the trip. I'm not all that bummed because Nick isn't supposed to be all that anyway...but now we have a tough choice. The first part of the trip will be BG, MK, SW.

Waiting for some June Super Saver rates......:wizard:

I just booked a few minutes ago, anyway, without the rate....SO EXCITED!!!:cheer2:

Can the super saver rates be applied on top of the Play More, Save More rates. We are going to RPR for $131 a night in October. I am thrilled with this price!

Have super saver rates been released for late April early May? We've never stayed at Universal & thinking about a short wkend trip with grandparents and cousins. Hoping for super rates!

How many nights are you staying for $131/night rate? That's probably 1/2 of the rack rate!

Just booked super saver stay more save more for HRH @ $133.71 for Oct 1-8 (7 nights) at 43% off rack rate. This is about $100 less/night than we paid two years ago AND we got our tickets for $40.00+++ less, so it's actually "cheaper" for us to go this year than a few years ago!!! :goodvibes

FYI: Two years ago I booked a package thru Universal thinking it was a "good deal" and was clueless about the "DIS" until we planned a trip to WDW last Fall and I stumbled upon this site. It has been so helpful all around and SO glad it's here. THANK-YOU DIS!:cutie:

I was just checking for December rates. For Dec 18-22, there is an APH rate of $211. Not being sure of our dates, I also checked Dec 25-30. The website said that promotion is not available.

Would you guess not available YET, or should I just decide to go before Christmas for this and the crowd factor?
