What is the saddest episode on a TV show that you've seen?

There was an episode on DESIGNING WOMEN when Charlene went to the hospital to have her baby. Dolly Parton was a guest and part of a dream Charlene had. Julia and Mary Jo spent time talking with an elderly woman who was dying in the hospital and it became very emotional. The show had a "magical" feeling mixed with joy and sadness. I bawled over that particular episode!!! Apparently no one else remembers this? :confused3

But the saddest episode where I bawled uncontrollably afterwards: Grey's Anatomy when Denny died. My husband kept asking me if I was ok because I was I was sobbing...:sad1:

ER- when Mark Greene died. :sad1:

When Jen died on Dawsons Creek, she made this video for her daughter, it was so sad.

The saddest one for me was on 8 Simple Rules. It was the first episode after John Ritter's death and they had written it into the story line. You knew that all of the emotions that you were watching were real. Those kids did an amazing job! I was bawling!
.
At first, I couldnt think of a episode..but as soon as i saw these mentioned, i remember crying like a baby

Roseanne's series finale did me in. That is one of my favorite shows and when I realized Dan had died, I was bawling!
I never saw this one, but love watchin the reruns

I think I cried harder during the season finale of MASH than any other single episode of a TV show. When Hawkeye remembers it was a baby, not a chicken, that the woman smothered.

I also remember Mr. Hooper's death and telling Big Bird.

Just about every episode of MASH had something that made me cry, so that's a given.

But of TV shows that made me horribly sad, the number one was the Homicide: Life on the Street episode with Vincent Donofrio. (Season 6, Episode 7: Subway) I won't give away what happens, but it's powerful stuff.

ER when Dr. Greene died. I still can't hear that version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" without thinking of that episode.

Oh yeah. And at least when I was planning my wedding, SO many people were using that version for their reception! I couldn't imagine, even though it's the only version I can stand.

Not really the same but could anyone watch the re-runs of Crocodile Hunter after Steve Erwin dies and not hurt?

Penny

final episode of MASH
When Dr. Greene dies on ER
When the lady dies in childbirth on ER
And there have been many episodes of Little House on the Prairie that I cried in

I haven't really been able to. DS and I watch Bindi's show sometimes, and she uses SO many clips of her dad, and it makes me so sad. I'm sure it's working for her to keep him alive in that way, but it freaks me out a little bit.

Ya I can't really watch it either, and Bindi's show bugs me...just seems like they exploited her. I feel that way about a lot of child actors but this is worse to me because it's almost like they had her try to fill her dad's shoes after he died without a lot of time to stop and think.

Yes!!!!! Definitley a tearjerker. I miss that show.

From what I've read, it seems to be coming from her, though. It was already in production, and obviously they had filmed many scenes with her dad for it, when he died. She seems to be a very advanced, outspoken, little kid, and I think she has quite a bit of say in whether to do the show and what to do in it, so I personally don't think she's being exploited, I just don't think that would have worked for my healing process, to be surrounded with (in my case) mom's images and talking like she was still alive. Though I was 30 when she died, not 8 or however old Bindi was. A bit different. :sad1:

I cry at ER alot but Dr Greene dying whoa baby I was sobbing like a mad woman! I remember after it was over and my mom called me and we crying like crazy over the phone :sad1:

NYPD Blue thats another that got to me, poor Andy his son, wife and Bobby I would hate to know that guy!

I cry at alot, Im a wimp! But the very first time was (like someone said earlier) when the orginal and first Roman Brady died on Days of our Lives, that was awful, i was a teen but man that made me cry. Now of course there is a different guy playing him (i think)and that character has died 5 or more times! :lmao:

i'm sure theres more, I'm a cryer but when I read the thread title those came to mind!:goodvibes

Michael J. Fox's last regular episode of Spin City. His character was leaving because he took the fall for a scandal, but in reality everyone knew why he was really leaving and watching the cast trying to keep it together was so sad...especially the Mayor saying goodbye.

Another vote for Dr Greene's death on ER...:sad1: Like someone else said I always remember this when I hear Somewhere over the Rainbow....especially as I used to sing it to my DD when she was little like Mark did to his daughter! :sad1:

Futurama. The episode where Frye remembers his dog and how close they were and at the end Frye gets frozen but the dog doesn't know it and sits outside the pizza parlor waiting for him to return. He sits and waits through seasons and seasons until he dies. We absolutely can't watch that one here or we all start bawling.

I can't believe I'm not the only person to get upset at this episode. I think its the single most upsetting thing I've ever watched (and definitely on an animated show). I bawl every time I see that one! Everyone I know just laughs at me and thinks I'm such a sap.

Tosh and Owen being killed on Torchwood and her goodbye video afterwards.

OMG, I forgot about that. That was horrible, absolutely horrible. :(

And like a PP said about Doctor Who, I also can't watch the reruns of Army of Ghosts/Doomsday, the episodes where Rose was trapped in the parallel world. It still hurts too much to watch.

Oh gosh - I remember this!! They played "Somewhere Out There" and I just bawled and bawled. Great episode!!
