What is the one things your kids remember

We had our first WDW vacation 9/11-9/22.

We felt we were pretty prepared (somewhat) I had read the dis boards, I bought the Birnbaums for myself and the kid version. So when we started out first day at Animal Kingdom, of course we knew that DD5 made the height requirement,,,, and DD8 had read all about EE. DD8 and DD5 knew ahead of time about the ride... the Yetti... the 'torn tracks'. Well having learned through the dis and the book that EE lines can fill up fast, we headed right to that attraction. Everyone we super excited. We get on... we ride... the girls get off and crying tell us they want to go home. (I am like "guys we are here for almost two weeks we can't go home) After much encouragement they enjoyed the rest of the trip.... Now, EE is the first thing they talk about when others ask about their vacation. My DD8 actually chose EE as her topic for a speech contest at her school. Go figure.

My kids also remember the geikos on the door of our room when we returned one night and the next night a frog above the door.

DD has an amazing memory for her age...I ask her for help with my trip report!!! Some of the things she talks about all the time are rides (Buzz and Teacups), being called the Princess of Massachusetts in the Laugh Floor, getting the rose from the Beast during the Beauty and Beast show, riding the people mover over and over, the giraffes hiding under the tree in the rain outside our hotel room, riding pirates 7 times in a row during the rainstorm, the popcorn, and the s'mores at LeCellier. She also reminds me when we talk about the restaurants that she does not like the "volcano restaurant" (Mexico) and never take her there again (we went there two trips ago). She also talks about the pools a lot. We went to Disneyland in March and she asks literally daily to go back...but just because she liked the pool! When we met the princess during this trip, she told them that they were standing in the wrong spots because they were in different places than they were last year!!! And she was only 2 1/2 during out 2006 trip!!! But she remembers right where they were :rotfl:

We go every year so, my kids have lots of memories. There is usually not a day that goes by that one of them mentions something about WDW.
We have had the music from MNSSHP (we ordered the CD two weeks ago and it finally came in on Monday!! :woohoo: ) on all week. Boo To You has fast become one of my favorite Disney songs.

My DS talks about the lizard that decided to take a ride on Splash with us last year. It was too funny. We were going up to the first small drop when we spotted it. I worried everytime we hit a dark area that the darn thing was going to end up on me!! DS of course, thought it was the funniest thing he had ever seen. :rotfl: He picks on me all the time about it.

My oldest son remembers the first time he went on Space Mountain. He waited until the ride started, turned to me with a nervous look and said that his over the head harness was not locked. I nearly had a heart attack. When he realized I was freaking he told me he was just kidding. He laughed the entire ride and it took all I had to not strangle the little darling. (Just kidding of course).

My DD 4, is more current with her memories. She keeps talking about how she screamed on Goofy's rollercoaster last month. She does talk about the dirty foot in POTC that the Pirate has sitting up on the bridge. She has laughed about that for two years now...lol.

Great memories.

My ds's last visit was at the age of 3. (He's 11 now). He talked about the monorail for YEARS after that trip... Geez. I could have paid $10 bucks to park and just rode the monorail around all day! MUCH CHEAPER! :rotfl2:

I've been to Disney a lot. Ironically my first memory is Minnie Mouse holding me when I was 3 and me biting her nose! My favorite memory was afternoon/early evening swim breaks at the contemporary and poly when I was a little older!

from our trip in 2004 my then 2 year old now 5 remembers
1) that he didn't get scared in the haunted house and that his 5 year old sister did
2) his 5 year old sister's unfortuate "accident" when we couldn't get to a bathroom fast enough (she will hate him forever for always bringing this up)
3) that he wouldn't hug ariel because her ****ies were scary :rotfl: This year he has been looking at pictures of Ariel and told me that her ****ies didn't look to scary so he'd hug her this time.

We took my little sister to Epcot when she was 4. I was so excited to show her Nemo and all the other cool things. Nope, she hated it all and cried through Nemo. Her favorite ride, the boat ride through the Land. At the end she stood up and yelled, "Let's do it again!"

We were there in August and this is what my kids remember;
DS age 8.5 remembers everything!:) He talks about EE a lot!

DS age 6 talks about being part of Jack Sparrow's pirate tutorial!! I think he was walking around with stars in his eyes after that, so everything else is a blur to him!!

DD 3.5 talks about Dumbo ride, the dancing dolls (Small World), and Donald in the wall ( Mickey's Philharmagic). She remembers a lot, but those were her favorites.

Our trip before that:
DS (6 at the time) remembers everything. He talks about riding Space Mountain 4 times!

DS (3.5 at the time) remembers the Mickey bars and not riding anything except POTC. He rode other things, but wasn't into the rides, or characters or anything else but Mickey bars!!

DD was 12 months old, so she doesn't remember ever being there. But I remember her being very good and a "go with the flow" baby!!

My 11 year old granddaughter has several great memories, but the one she tells FIRST is the one that we had to wait 45 minutes for the bus after wishes because "2 fat" ladies were giving the bus driver a hard time..I explained to her that it wasn't polite to say what she did, but....After all the waiting and let me tell you there were more than 200 people waiting for the bus, and these 2 ladies, just would accept what the driver was trying to tell them...he finally called for "back up" and even then we had to wait for 15 more minutes..once we were allowed to board the bus, the ladies had NO apology to any of us, and yes, there were many small children...the driver said nothing either..the 2 ladies had scooters...and may I add..NO shoes...I thought everyone had to wear shoes...my granddaughter also mentioned that...kids aren't they great???

I just asked my kids. My son was 3.5 when we went and is now 4.5. He says he remembers "the merry go round" (Cinderella's Carousel). :)

My daughter's nanny and her son came with us last year. Her son Christian's memories of Disney Swirl-the Dolphin shouse(his pronunciations).
We stayed at the Swan but he loved the statues at the Dolphin hotel next door. Everytime he was tired, he'd say," No more Disney Swirl, I want to go to Dolphin shouse.
He kept us so amused. My daughter was 12 on that trip and she enjoyed the magic through Christian's eyes. She said that she knew what parents mean when they say they are seeing something through their child's eyes.

Oh! This reminds me of two things: Using a secret shortcut and the bus accident.
My family went at the end of May this year. We left MGM one night and were staying at ASMu. There was one bus going to both ASMu and ASMo and one bus just to ASSports. The line for ASMU and ASMo was so long it passed the next TWO bus stops. I mean it had to be a football field length long. That's not counting the part of the line that snakes around to where the bus picks you up. We waited for about 10 minutes and I had the bright idea  of getting in the ASSports line, taking that bus and walking over to our hotel, ASMu. As I tried hushing the kids, they kept saying, "This is the wrong line, we're taking the wrong bus", while we were getting out of line and getting into the ASSp line. :rolleyes1 I didn't want anyone else to get the same idea as me until we were actually in the ASSp line. To make matters worse, we are "snaking" through the ASSp line and another bus hits the ASMo/ASMu bus. They had to unload a FULL ASMo/ASMu bus and wait for another one. I'm telling you, you could see steam rise  from the people waiting for that bus.

From his first trip (7 yo at the time) Carl remembers Rafiki trying to steal his autograph pen and Fantasmic.

From his second trip (9yo) he remembers throwing up at MGM and the waiter picking on him at Prime Time 50's. He hates that place now and won't eat there.

From his third trip (13 now) he remembers most everything - but give him time to forget, it was only 2 months ago. ;)

We went for the first time many years ago when my DD was 4. She was very adventurous and loved to ride everything, but was too short for Space Mountain. Her 6 yr old brother was tall enough, but was too afraid to ride. Oldest DS, 8, and I rode while DH, who doesn't like coasters, took DD and DS6 around to meet us. She was so upset and cried the whole time. She was so mad because her brother could have ridden and didn't, and she wanted to ride so badly, and couldn't! She talked about that for years! (And still does 30 years later!)

When we took my oldest grandson at 3, the main thing he would talk about afterward was the birds. When we would go to the bus stop to leave the park in the middle of the day to go back to the resort and nap, there were lots of birds that would come around to eat whatever food had been dropped. So he liked to watch them and chase them a little, so that was what he remembered rather than the attractions! (I could REALLY have saved some money, but the main point of the trip was actually for DH and me to watch him seeing it all! That was how we celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary!)

From our last trip, DGS talks about Star Tours and Test Track.

My first time was when I was 5 (back in the 70"s), I remember jumping on the bed, and always wanting to take my sandals off because of blisters! I have a picture from IASW, but I don't really remember it! I'm taking my children (6 and 7) in 2 weeks, and I hope they can remember more than I did!

My dd (now 5) was 3 when we went to DL. She remembers Tigger trying to eat her hat and her cousin (who was 5 at the time) crying after Splash Mountain. She remembers the thunder and lightening in the Tiki Room and Tinkerbell flying from the castle during the fire works. She also talks about Goofy trying to feed her older cousin at Goofy's Kitchen. I could go on. I can't wait for new memories from this trip to WDW.

My DD goes often so she "remembers" everything from repetition...BUT...the thing she loves to talk about the most are the golf cart we rented at FW :thumbsup2 and when a bird pooped on my foot.:confused3

Great question!

My 9 year old (then 7 at time of trip) remembers how much corn his little brother ate at Hoop Dee Doo! (weird!) And he also talks alot about the "roller coasters" TT, EE, MS etc...

My 6 year old (then 4 yo) talks about the oranges in Soarin' and want to go back and eat one!

My 14 year old (then 12 yo) is a typical teenager and doesn't talk about it much!

My DS was 3 1/2 last year and he remembers most of it. But when you ask him why he wants to go back, it is to get a back scratcher! THat was the only souviener he wanted, a $5 Mickey back scratcher and he broke it our first day home. So for the past year he asks almost every day if we can go to WDW to get a new one!

We go back in a few weeks so I think we will get a few just in case! Nothing like a $4000 vacation for a $6 back scratcher!:confused3

I polled the grandchildren yesterday and DGD5 remembered Splash Mountain the most, followed by POTC. DGS8 talked about his favorite Mission Space and the Pop Century pool, along with the previous named Star Tours and TT.
