I always find when talking about Disney with friends, this topic to be hysterical.

After we parents spend 1,000's of dollars what is the top things your kids remember about going to Disney?

1. My 10 year old (7 at the time) when asked, will tell you EVERYTIME the bird that flew on the balcony of our hotel and stole his breakfast!

2. My 13 year old (10 at the time) will tell you he remembers the Mad Hatter climbing a tree and making the kids beg for him to come down...

3. My 6 year old (at the time 3) actually has 1 memory... of her daddy having to wear a bib and being fed airplane style at the 50's prime time...:rotfl:

All those waits in line? those rides? NOT in my kids' memories :confused3

What about your kids? what do they remember most?

DS is 21 mos and we were just there 3 weeks ago. When asked what he saw at WDW he says "Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Goofy" and if pressed for more he'll say "Fireworks...boom! Blue fireworks" (pronounced fiyuhwooks). Why blue ones stand out in his mind is unknown of course LOL

Very funny question!!

My DS's remember and talk about the strangest things. Some of their most talked about Disney memories ~

When you get on the monorail and the announcement says - Hello, and welcome aboard. Why? I don't know. But this for some reason struck them as really funny. Sometimes they go around the house all day saying - Hello, and welcome aboard! :lmao:

They also think the new Monsters Inc show is hilarious. Especially when Roz says - Watching, always watching! We hear that quite often too! :rotfl:

They also talk about the squirrel they chased up a tree at Epcot!

Kids are funny!! :goodvibes

OK, I just asked my dd. She was 2 1/2 when we went last November. She is almost 3 1/2 now. She said, "I remember the big Hello Kitty that I bringed." I asked her more about it because she doesn't have a big Hello Kitty. Well, we checked the pictures because she wanted to see pics of the Pooh rides (which she also remembers). It turns out she did bring a big white kitty who also has a pink bow. It was her stuffed Marie from Aristocats. How funny. :rotfl:

OK, now I am really surprised. Before when I was talking to her, she said she remembered a boat ride that was big enough for Mommy, Daddy and Mikayla (dd). I thought she was thinking of a boat ride on the boardwalk and could not think of what she meant. I just thought she was making stuff up because she didn't remember anything. This combined with a Hello Kitty that she didn't have Well, it turns out she was talking about the Peter Pan ride. Gosh, I feel silly! :) I'm surprised she rememers it.

My son was 2.5 when we went this past May. He remembers how The Haunted Mansion and POTC scared him for a few minutes and how much he wants to ride them again. He talks about Disney all of the time and luckily we will be there again this January. :goodvibes

My kids are now eight and nine.

From their first trip at 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 they remember nothing...but they'll retell stories or talk about pictures they have seen.

From their trip at 4 and 5 - it blurs with the trip and 6 and 7. They start to remember stuff -but don't know which trip its from. They know the rides well enough to remember them. They remember the "chocolate moose" from Le Cellier and eating at Sci Fi. They remember the waterpark. But it tends to be the repetitive stuff they remember. They went to Cirque once - at 6 and 7, no memories without cues and then only vague memories.

My 4 year old talks about Test Track all the time. although to him it is the "fast car" place
My 10 year old talks about seeing Tyra in the Grand Floridian last trip. Oh and throwing up when she was 3 and was chasing after Eeyore.
My 2 year old keeps wanting to go see Mickey House- not a typo- he thinks it's mickey house:rotfl2: and really he wants to go to the house to see the mouse.
My 13 year old
remembers the trip that he skipped around Epcot singing lala la lalala la and I was :rotfl2: And getting the Dream Team Fast Pass on Test track(I guess that's our ride:woohoo: )

I asked my 4 1/2 year old what he remembered from WDW and he said when he and I got "lost" in the house with mirrors... He was talking about a fun house at the Texas State Fair. We went there before we went to Disney last year. He could not remember anything from Disney! Oh well, I remember!

BTW... we were not "lost" I just could not figure out how to get out and started panicking! Luckily my husband was on the outside laughing and was able to point us through!

Guess I'm lucky ..

DD 6 remembers Peter Pan's ride and sitting in the front of the barnstormer!

DS 4 remembers Buzz lightyear and posing with him

DS 8 -- remembers "I need Ketchup" at Whispering Canyon! He is so shy that this took him by surprise and the look on his face when 10 people brought him ketchup was priceless!

My DS 3 1/2 (was 2 1/2 at trip time) will still tell people about the buzz ride and the Dumbo ride and that we wore silly glasses to see kermit!!

DS4 talks nonstop about "The wildest ride in the wilderness." (BTMRR)

DD7 (4 at the time) fondly remembers Grandpa losing his hat on the Goofy coaster.

My kids were 2 & 5 when we went to DL. DD (2 at the time) for years remembered the rocket ride. She would say 'I ride the rockets'. DS (5 at the time) remembers the Haunted Mansion. Specifically that it was the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion.

my DD favorite thing about Disney is my least favorite--riding the darn bus.

Other than the bus, what she mainly remembers from her 1st trip (she was 2) is meeting the characters at The Crystal Palace. She asked Tigger to bounce for her and he did, but she always has to add "not on his tail" when she talks about it.

Now from this past trip (she was 3- almost 4) she seems to remember a lot. I am sure watching all those travel channel shows on Disney helps to jog her memory. She likes to say "Tell me about the time I got scared at the Haunted Mansion" (no sooner had we finally gotten to the point that we were standing inside the building than she yells "Get me outta here." )

The Tomorrowland Speedway and Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm also left a lasting impression.

My dd was about to turn 5 when we went in 2003. She remembers:
1) The monorail...........LOVES it.
2)The Poly.............talks about it non stop
3)playing at the Lego store with Daddy
4)riding the Star Wars ride at MGM
5)Ariels show at MGM
6)Alice in Wonderland Tea Party at GF
7)the tea cups and dumbo at MK
8)Just being at Disney lagoon view at the Poly and able to see the water parade and the fireworks from our balcony. She actually thought the water parade was just for her and only she could see it. Every night she would say this because of course she could not see anyone else watching it. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: I thought that was PRICELESS!!!!!!!

My daughter talks about when we went last time ( she was 2) and how the dog scared her on POTC. I laugh because it wasn't the dog it was the drop in the dark at the beginning. She was still crying when she saw the dog, so I assume she just remembers the dog. She also remembers Goofys Barnstormer because we rode it over and over again.

it's hard to know what they (DD2 and DD4 at the time) remember vs what we have talked about. Our first trip as a family was Dec 06 and we have talked about it non-stop. Our screen saver on our computer is a slide show of our trip.

but if push came to shove I KNOW they both remember the Tea Cups, MK Fireworks and meeting Cinderella. I'm sure my older remembers more.

Can't wait to get back and build more memories. :)

Keep them coming!!! I love reading about Disney through the eyes of little ones!
Its just so adorable the things they remember!!!!

I went with a friend for her birthday (we were 9)...

and I remember being scared and flat out REFUSING to ride Spaceship Earth! :rotfl2:

Although I don't have a Disney story to remember, I do have a cruise one. We cruise as often as we go to Disney although we spend much more on our cruises.
The only thing that both my dd-13 andds-9 remember and talk about from our last trip is when we picked them both up at the Kids Club at midnight and the four of us were walking through the Pomanade. We decided we would all get a slice of pizza. We sat, ate the pizza and went back to our cabins (we get two connecting cabins). My kids talk about how fun it was for us to eat pizza at midnight. Although I didn't know it at the time, that made a great family memory for them that they still talk about. We are cruising in July so I am sure I will have to eat pizza again at midnight but hope to make more happy family memories.
