What is the ONE thing you would change about DVC, DVC rules?

It appears to be that way with CA resorts. My understanding is it is because of the way the law requires it?

For WDW, you can search for HA if you want it, but it doesn’t do the opposite…..the main search is both.

It’s a good question to ask DVC as to why they don’t have it set up the same way

Boardwalk isn't like that though. It is split there. I know this because when we decided to just start our trip at WDW this summer only HA 2br was left nothing in the normal search.

That's why I was confused.

Luckily we got our extra days at BCV to come through though and freed the room back up for someone. As it was the last room available and just 5 months out I felt I was okay at that point to book it while we looked for a normal room.

Maybe? Most of the resorts I have checked have always shown HA gone when checked if I wasn’t seeing the regular.

So, I’d never seen what you have found. Which, of course, makes sense as to confusion!

In terms of bookings? If I did only see an accessible, I’d book it if there wasn’t anything left in regular.

Yes, maybe that’s it, the low number of GV there. In total there are 7 GV. Two are 2-story and 5 are single story. Of the 5 single story, 1 is HA, so IOW there are 6 non-HA GV at BWV.

We walked our January reservation, so I’m not sure whether FCFS applies or not. It’s entirely possible we got the HA because I repeated my request 3 times for a single story due to having a 20 month old toddler with us. We’ve been assigned HA rooms at other hotels too, and as I said they have their quirks and annoyances, but I’d rather have a HA room than no room.

I have never stayed in a HA room what is the reasons that people may not like them?

If you don’t check the box the standard room inventory is shown of what is available. This happens at all properties to my knowledge unless they have changed things?

Definitely agree that the lowered height of everything can be annoying, at best. At 6'7" even "normal" sinks, tables, beds, etc. are too low for me. Accessible rooms are torture. I try to avoid them at all costs. I personally, prefer the way it's handled at VDH, where they don't mix the two room types into a single category. To me, that method makes the most sense overall.

My understanding is that for the CA properties, the HA rooms are not part of the regular inventory when you search.

So, when you search rooms but don’t don’t check accessible, you are only seeing the non HA availability.

For the FL properties, at least in my experience, the availability that is showing when you don’t choose accessible includes them when showing availability.

Let’s say the only room left is an accessible one, it will show as available whether you choose accessible or not…

Meaning, there doesn’t seem to be a time where I have accessible available when regular was showing none.
