What is the name of the restaurant you see in Pirates of the Caribbean?

The Blue Bayou.

I think it is really good to excellent. You will get many opinions about the quality though. Just like any other restaurant. :)

I thought it was good, I had the braised short ribs and thought they were tasty, DH had the steak which he said was seasoned nicely and tender....He LOVED the potatoes, me on the other hand thought they could have been cooked just a few minutes longer....the cookie boat was yummy! :upsidedow

I agree! Everyone has their own views, just as with anything. Some people have said they feel sick, and others say its the best food ever. You should definatly go, its such an amazing atmosphere, even if you didn't like the food, it would be a great experience.

I'd try to do lunch and get their first seating (11:20 I think.) You'll get water-side seating that way (usually.) Is the best food I've ever eaten? no. But I have gone multiple times now and always enjoy myself. My dh and kids like it too!

The first seating is at 11:30, get there early and ask for a waterside table. This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food has been great every time, (the potatoes are my favorite!!!) and the atmosphere is just amazing. Of course you get the people who hate it but I say try it for yourself and make our own judgement. :)

Blue Bayou, love that restaurant its soo good, the beef and fried cheese cake (begins drooling at thought). If you plan to go make a reservation and when you arrive tell them you are willing to wait for a seat on the water, its the best its like dinner with pirates.

What the heck is fried cheese cake? I've never seen it there? :confused3

Argggh, ahoy me hearties, thar sure be one of the finest eatin places to be found this side of the Caribbean! As mentioned earlier by my other sea dog friends, it be named the Blue Bayou! Argggh..........but beware! My landlubber friends, that whilst you may enjoy yer' meal, we pirates may just be fancying to share it with you! Or just simply plunder it! Like it or not, if ye don't? Well then, it will be but the crows nest fer you, fer sure! Argggh........... and just to give thee but another fair warnin, keep close your loved ones, and even closer still yet, thee pocket watch, and any gold that may be on yer person! We take no prisoners! For they weigh our ship down! Best to be leavin ye' here, instead of making ye walk the plank! And don't forget to be thankin us either, for sparin ye' miserable wretch of a soul! May god have mercy upon all of our souls! For it is not an easy job to be a pirate! Although so far, I have been managin to keep from dancin the hempen jig!

It is great food. Not a huge menu, but the food is of high quality.

As mentioned, the ambience and atmosphere in there is unbeatable.

One word of caution, though. VERY expensive. I still think it is worth it to go once just because it is such a nice place to eat, but it is very pricey.

Good advice. Everyone should go there at least once and if you're traveling far maybe once per trip. It's a great vibe and takes you completely out of the feel of the park, the crowds and the noise (just like Pirates does). It is pricey but depending on what you pick it doesn't have to be a deal killer.

We went for lunch and took some pictures; if you'd like to see, please follow the trip report link in my signature and look on page 6, post # 81 of my TR.

I followed the advice of DIS'ers here, made PS's for lunch at 11:30, and requested waterside seating. We showed up at 11:15 to check in and repeated our request for waterside. That got us seated first, right at the railing, and we had a beautiful table and a great time. I have heard that if you ask for waterside seating later in the day, you might end up waiting quite a while past your original PS time. The above method means no waiting.

I'll repeat what others have said: expensive, food not fabulous but some of it is very good. It's really the experience you're paying for. We loved it and would do it again every time! :thumbsup2

While I agree that the atmosphere is great and the food in general is good, I went there to celebrate my 40th anniversary and I ordered a steak medium rare. The first one came basically raw I mean it was super rare, sent it back second one I could not even cut into it was totally grey all the way through no pink at all. Oh they also dumped my sides, veg and potatoe when they took it back to be recooked.
Sent that back too and asked what happened to the rest of my dinner.
It took three steaks, they brought new vegetables with the third one and even then the steak while cooked correctly this time was giselliy and tough.
For $40 an entree I expect better than that.
Would I go back to Blue Bayou? absolutely but I would be more careful what I ordered and be very specific exactly what I wanted with the waiter the first time.

Sort of exactly what it sounds like. Cheesecake, dipped in some sort of batter, deep fried. I think I just gained 10 lbs typing that, but oh it is sooooo good! the cheesecake gets sort of soft and gooey and, well, just yum!

I checked the allears menus and they don't have it on the Blue Bayou menu. Trying to remember where and when we had it last. Can't remember. :faint:

Ok, I was wondering.....I kept thinking "Dreams, I was just there and there was no fried cheesecake, the only thing fried was the Monte Cristo" LOL

Blue Bayou is my favorite restaurant. The food is not the draw, it's the ambiance. Every time, I think I'm going to order something else, but end up ordering the Monte Cristo Sandwich. Sigh. We always go for late lunch when we visit. I just love the magic of eating at night during the middle of the day!
DD doesn't really like anything on the menu, so if he is going with us, we usually skip it. Definitely try it at least once!

I used to love the food there. Then i went back a year later and they had changed the head chef!!The chef determines what stays and goes on the menu,,,some of my favorites were gone, and so was the taste,,Yuck,,,very disappointing,,,maybe i'll try back in a few years....

Can you make reservations and can you make them for the tables by the water.
Thanks

Yes, you need to call Disney Dining and make a reservation. You can request a water table but they'll just tell you to show up early for your ressie and request one.
