Alright, the operative theme for 2009 for many is the whole "I'm a Disney fiend that, due to the economy is looking for a cheaper vacation" vibe. I fit into that perfectly. I can close my eyes and walk WDW parks in my mind. As a matter of fact, I was there last April and had a great time.

That being said, the last time I was at Universal Studios, it was 1995. I went with my wife, for we had no kids. We had a lot of fun. We rode JAWS. We rode that Earthquake thing that just shook and poured water which I thought was a huge waste of time.

We rode E.T., which I liked. But our problem is now that my 2 sons has never seen E.T. all the way through. They always fall asleep because they both think it's so boring. So E.T. will probably be their equivalent to "Small World", which they hated so much that they were angry that they even got into the little boat and wasted their time.

Now back in 1995, we also rode Kongfrontation. And Back to the Future. Both were OK, but... they're gone. Plus Kongfrontation was kinda silly.

And lastly, my favorite that I remember was Terminator 3-D; which was so scary that I was ducking from the Plasma Spider and shaking in my boots! I loved that attraction, and I think it was one of the most thrilling experiences I've ever had in a theme park.

Now that was almost 14 years ago. I know a lot has changed. But I want to know from experienced Universal thrill-seekers: What's the most thrilling and/or scary rides in the parks? And don't hold back!

My kids are the thrill ride junkies (I'm the ride chicken) so I asked them. Their list, in order of favorites in each park is:

IOA - Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Spiderman, Dr. Doom, Popeye, Jurassic Park, & Dudley Do-Right

US - The Mummy, Men in Black, Earthquake (now Disaster), and Twister. While not thrill rides the liked Shrek & Jimmy Neutron and the whole family enjoyed the Hollywood Horror Make Up Show. They thought Jaws and Terminator were "cheesy". Simpsons hadn't opened yet the last time we were there but I'm sure that will be on the favorites list this time around.

My favorite at IOA is Pyrrock...the Fire Dragon (Dueling Dragons).

My favorite at the Studios is RoTM...I hope the HR3 replaces it as my favorite soon.

Like Metro at IOA-Fire side of DD and Spidy(its not scary but the best 3D ride ever built)
Studios The Mummy!!

My husband would say the Hulk and I would stay the Mummy.

I would say for me
Studios- ROTM and MIB and like metro HRRR when its completed
IOA - The Hulk ,Spiderman, Dueling Dragons, Jurrassic Park
Besides the thrill rides I love the themeing :thumbsup2

but isn't MIB a dark shooting game like Buzz Lightyear at Magic Kingdom?

How can that be thrilling?

You are surrounded by aliens and they are shooting at you. That it is a shooting ride like Buzz it where all similarity ends. Themeing is great and you keep score. If it is just a game (or ride) then why do we keep score?:cool2:

Love...... love ........love .......The Hulk! The acceleration at the beginning is the BEST:thumbsup2
Duelling Dragons are fantastic too, I can`t remember which one I preferred though. Think I loved them both.
Dr Doom is really good too, but very quick.
In US got to be The Mummy. I`m hoping not to be too scared and love the new one when it opens:)

IoA - Hulk, Spiderman, Duelling Dragons.
US - MIB, RoTM, Shrek.

We haven't experienced The Simpsons ride yet, but we're all looking forward to trying it out in 2 weeks time! :yay:

We are going to IOA for the 1s time next month, so I don't know any of those rides.

MIB was a lot of fun at US. We went on it 3 times.

If you don't know anything of the rides at IOA, you will be in for a very pleasant surprise! :teeth:

Awesome!

I had never even been on a roller coaster until I went on Sheikra in Busch Gardens in 2007. I did NOT want to go on it, but DH made me, and now I'm hooked!

That's usually the way it works. You're terrified before and can't get enough after...it happens to a lot of people. Glad you've crossed that barrier!

Oh...and make sure you do both sides of DD. Pyrrock (Fire dragon) is completely different than Blizzrock (Ice dragon).

US - Revenge of the Mummy
IOA - The Hulk but Spiderman even though is not a 'rollercoaster' thrills me all the same :)

Thanks for that tip. We'll definately try both sides.

Is Dr. Doom similar to Tower of Terror? I hated Tower of Tower. I like coasters, but I don't like a straight free-fall.

I don't like straight drops either but I didn't have any problems with ToT. I won't do Doctor Doom.

Now that DOES surprise me. Don`t know why really :lmao: but it does. I love Dr Doom, although like the other rides it took 2 trips before I did any of the IOA rides. Tom is not keen on Doom either, but will go on it.
It`s slow climbs I don`t like, DD was a bit of a trial for me at first, but love it now :)
