It used to annoy me when used as the only description in a sentence such as "my _______ is picky. Will s/he like the food at _________?
Huh? Does that mean if they don't get mashed potatoes with a meal they won't eat? Must have mac + cheese? Refuses to eat anything that is orange in colour?
On this forum I'm beginning to think it means they only want American food that has little outside their norm seasoning but of course I could be wrong since oftimes they don't describe the level or type of pickiness, LOL.

I will go with impressed, it just sounds so snobby, so condescending.. It annoys me, I normally stop reading a review as soon as I see it.
I guess Im easily impressed maybe. Im a big fan of WDW resort all moderates and above, I didnt include values bc we spend time at a resort so dont stay at values often. I cant remeber anywhere I was truly unhappy with the food in Disney, some I was like Ok done that dont need to go back, I hear a lot of bad references towards Olive Garden, Taco Bell, I like both I guess maybe Im not a food snob?
Bottom line to me nothing Disney does is to IMPRESS anyone and if some isnt impressed, not a big deal there are millions out there that it does..lol

And the totally vague request for recommendations. "Where should my family eat?" "Will we like restaurant XYZ?" Ummm....we don't know you. How about a little detail on what you're looking for? Other places that you might like? Specific food preferences or allergies? Or ANYTHING?

I hate posts with too many acronyms. How much time typing are you really saving? I'm a Disney fanatic and even I can't intuitively figure out acronyms at times without Google.

Just say husband/son/kid/spawn. "DH/DW/DD/DS/DGD" is so...weird (I have a long history on other forums, so I knew what those meant, but constant acronyms are the worst).

The word "impressed" doesn't concern me in a review or make me feel like any condescending is happening. For me it just means the food/restaurant exceeded my expectations. As for Disney's definition..yeah well they are trying to "impress" you out of your money on one level or the other.

I'm a self declared "food snob" so that term doesn't bother me at all in a negative sense. That acknowledgment doesn't mean I can't walk in another's shoes when it comes to food and type of restaurants just says... I know what I like.

It's Australian slang. Barbie, brekkie, Ausie, etc. Not sure if the people using it here are actually Australian, but we heard it and similar 'ie' abbreviations a lot when we were down under.

I agree. So much of this lately. In my opinion, it’s not really in the spirit of the Disboards (or very relevant to the restaurants discussion.) But we can all have our own opinions, right?

ETA: I honestly don’t care what words or abbreviations people use. I think this is a valuable and (mostly) welcoming forum where many people seek help planning their vacations. I’m not worried about or annoyed by people’s grammar, vocabulary, abbreviations, etc.
