What is the likelyhood of closing in 45 days?

sorry for the repeat post, I meant to post this here and not under the other ROFR thread!

We just found out today that our contract was sent to Disney for ROFR. The email that was sent to me by the TSS said that it would take about 45 days to close on this contract (if we make it by ROFR of course). Have others found that 45 days is fairly accurate? I have read one or two posts where people have mentioned that it has been taking a while to close but I wasn't sure if that meant longer than 45 days?
Also, after you sign the closing documents and fax (?) them back to the closing company, how soon after can you actually make reservations? Dh and I would love to take a 4 night trip for the week of November 14 to any DVC resorts but it sounds like we won't be "official" by then.
From others expeince, is it possible we will be able to do this mini vacation or is there no chance at all?
I can't stop thinking about becoming a DVC member, I hope it happens for us!

I think we were closed in about 30 days, although it's been a long time back. However, I think your odds of getting time around November 14 are pretty slim - October clear through the first week of January has been sold out (with waiting lists) for some time. There's always hope, but I wouldn't count on it.

It was a long time ago, but ours took two months or better just to close - and then another week to get into the system.

I'd say your chances are slim - I think the resorts are pretty booked for that period already.

I agree with others. The resorts are pretty booked. You could rent an existing reservation if you can find one...then rent your points out once you are "official."

We passed ROFR on 1/30 and were in the system at the end of March. Ours was 2 months from passing ROFR! We have bad luck with these things so others have gotten theirs in the system a lot faster. But if you allow up to 30 days to pass ROFR, you'd already be at the end of October, then you have to officially close and do all that paperwork, then you have to get into the system.

The only way to be in the system ASAP is to buy direct from Disney!

We started the contract process on Aug. 28, I think, and are told we will be in the system by Monday, Oct. 3. Not too bad, about 5 weeks or so.

I just finished on a re-sale through TSS. This is how my experience went.

- 08/03 - Made Offer on Re-sale / Offer Accepted / Sent Check Overnight Mail
- 08/09 - Sent to Disney for ROFR
- 09/10 - Received Closing Documents via e-mail (this surprised me since it was a Sunday)
- 09/11 - Returned documents and Cashier's Check via Overnight Mail
- 09/18 - Closed
- 09/25 - Points in System

I called everyday until my points were in - there was a problem with my points which needed to be fixed.

I also had a trip planned for arrival November 16th. We had reservations for Coronado Springs - but wanted to use our points instead if at all possible. After talking to people on the Forum - I didn't think there was a chance there would be a room available.

When I had MS on the phone trying to fix the points problem - I asked and there was a room available at my home resort and it was exactly what I wanted. MS was very helpful and even went as far as to hold a room for me until the problem with my points was solved. They fixed the problem by the next morning and MS actually called me back. (I was very surprised by this) The person I spoke to at MS went so far out of his way to help. He made my first DVC experience truly magical! :wizard:

I can actually say that I am a DVC member and have my first reservation booked. :cool1:
