What is the likelihood of vacancy? 6/21-6/27

Well, I guess that I really put the horse before the wagon this time and booked a great cheap flight for June 21-27 for a surprise (and cheap) DD and Mom trip to WDW and THEN I called to make reservations at POP. Holy cow there is NO and I mean no vacancy at any Disney resort. I am new to Disney trip planning and I never thought that this would be the case this time of year (I guess that is why there are no general codes, huh?). I would be happy with any Value Resort at this point and I am willing to call every morning and any other time that might help to find a room. Has anyone had this happen to them? Is there any chance at all that some where will open up easily or am I out of luck and better cancel my flight (thank goodness it is SW). Anyone with any hints, tips etc. I would LOVE to hear them. Thanks :)

I've heard of several resorts that do have availability. I think what you need to do is ask for less dates at one time. If you're asking for all those nights, there probably is no 1 resort with availability for every night so you'll come up empty. Try splitting the ressie. Earlier today people were having luck at one of the All Stars for 3 or 4 night stays. Swan & Dolphin also had rooms. Just keep calling, try different combinations - if you get 3 or 4 nights on property, then maybe stay at a DTD resort for the other nights, or worst case, some nights off-property.

Just be persistent and patient and creative and it'll work out for you!

We went down in July one year and they were supposedly "sold out" or very close but there were still rooms available. Plus when we arrived we changed hotels (WL to Poly) and there were rooms. they even had the billboard indicating they had rooms left.

Try calling first thing in the morning. Another option would be to contact a TA, preferably a disney ta and ask them for help.

I bet you'll find a room - we did this before Christmas once and got CBR though BC & YC were available (not in our budget). The funny thing was we that we had to move to an off-site hotel for the last night. When we checked in to CBR and mentioned this, they said they had a room available and we could extend our stay for that night. We didn't because we had to pay in advance for the other hotel.

You might go ahead and book an off-site hotel just in case, maybe a dtd one.

I would try for an offsite villa with all the amenities. Kitchen, pool and washer and dryer rather than cancelling. Of course, you would need a car.... :scratchin

How about the DTD hotels? Not quite the same magic, but they might have something available.

We are there from June 21-29. I can believe what you are saying. I have called day after day after day... And that is how I ended up booking 3 different resorts. Poly and WL thru CRO and POFQ thru Travelocity. I wanted to only do 2 splits, but now I am doing 3!

Call early in the morning. But also check Expedia and Travelocity. They may still have some room available. I know AKL is always available everytime I check it.

YIKES!!! I just put your dates in at Expedia, and there is nothing available!! A few scattering of nights here and there, but all the values are sold out!! I'm really sorry and hope something opens up for you.

Oh my! Even AKL? I suppose you can do splits if you don't mind. You might even have to do splits between on sites and off sites (maybe DD hotels or Swan/Dolphin so you're still on Disney property, but just not Disney resorts). I remember June 23-26 has no opening at all at Expedia and Travelocity, so I went back calling CRO and got those 3 nights at WL!

The title of this thread reads 5/21-5/27, you might want to change that. I was really confused at first.

I would call every morning to check for cancellations. I have been told the same thing before and been very persisent and it has paid off. Good luck!!

Thank you very much... I guess that I'm more tired than I thought. :guilty:

But... just in case... you might want to have a plan B. Just a back up plan. I am sure you can get a room in some of your dates. I would try to book anything and just keep calling twice a day and see if you can add an extra days until you get all your dates. But do have a plan B, especially when the date gets closer.

Well, so far I have the 21st booked at POP, but it doesn't look like any other days are open. I've looked online at WDW and I can do a split stay between CSR and Pop perferred room for a total of ~$920, but considering this was supposed to be a cheapish little trip that is a bit much. I guess that I should let go of my fantasy that a 6 day trip to WDW is 'little' and can be done cheaply by my standards.

Thanks to all of you for you help. Decisions decisions!!!

BTW... How do you do a 'split'... will Disney move your luggage when you have no car? TIA :)

Yes. Just let the resort know that you are splitting your stay and they will transfer your bags. But don't count on your bags being there right away, I guess they move your bags as soon as they find the opportunity.

Hope this helps. I was just on the Disney World web site and found rooms available at Coronado Springs for the nights of June 21-24 and rooms available at Port Orleans Riverside for the nights of June 24-27. Of course you would have to split your stay, but I've always found it was fun to be able to visit two resorts. Good luck!

Keep calling and check the web site too. I was told there was NO availablity at any on-property resort for June 19 - 24 the first time I called. I called back the next day and got June 18 - 22 at AS-Movies (a suite at Coronado Springs was also available. Two days later I checked the web site and got Juen 18 - 24 at Pop Century (AS-Sports & AS-Movies) were also available.

Also, go into the web site and put in each day by itself. That way you will see which day is totally booked. I did that and found that 6/22 was the problem (all other dates of my stay were available). I was going to book two reservations, but ended up getting the whole thing at Pop Century, so it wasn't necessary.

I would continue to call AND check the website often.

I waited too long to book a value room for the extension on the end of our trip and then was worried because there were no values available. I was calling every day and and checking online too.

One day I checked the website reservation system and it showed a room available. I was booking it but was having some trouble (old, slow computer) so I called while I was doing it and they said that they showed no rooms available. They told me that some rooms are left available for internet only reservations.

Long story short, I got the dates I wanted by booking online and then kept calling to switch to a different value that the kids were more interested. I hope that you have good luck getting the room you want and have a great vacation!!

Does anyone know why they are completely sold out this week?

Is it just HCOE? MYW? Something else? I am going this week and totally freaked about the crowd potential

My guess is b/c that is the week before the 4th of July and a lot of people are taking their vacations then.

I think I read elsewhere on here that there were several large conventions that week as well as some sort of sporting event.
