Hi,

I was talking with a lady and she told me not to miss the kiss goodbye at the mk. What is this? We got to see the opening last year while there at the Mk and at AK. I have never heard of the kiss goodbye before.

Thanks

I believe it is Wishes. That was a comment made on a WDW promotion: Wishes is a goodnight kiss. I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong! :rotfl2:

I too have heard about this kiss goodnight. I think I may have seen it on our honeymoon without realizing it. I read about it on this board somewhere. Anyone remember that who could post a link. I am not sure if they do it now but it used to happen after the park closing time while they were waiting for ppl to finsih leaving the park. If memory serves me correctly it happened well after the fireworks. I also think I saw a link to a video on this board that showed what it was. I wish I could help more. I wonder if they even still do it now that they have wishes.

It is when the park closes. The castle has lots of light changes while music is playing and a man is thanking you for coming. I think Mickey and Minnie kiss goodnight at the end. I have not been yet but I did see the link.

I found the link to the video if you are interested. I did see it on our honeymoon because we sat on a bench waiting for the crowds to thin before we left the park. I think it happened about a half hour after the close of the park. This was 7 years ago and I am not sure if they still do it. I might hang around to see this trip.

After Wishes, they start playing very traditional Disney music, and there is a very sweet (emotional for me) announcement and goodbye. I wish I could quote it but I can't. Sometimes there are different shapes, likes hearts and diamonds on the castle.

If I had to guess, I'd say it was about an hour after park closing, maybe 1/2. It could make me cry, it's just so sweet, even though in reality I think it's just a way to kind of shoo you out of the park!!! :)

after the park closes for good that night (they might do it before and after extra magic hours), mickey and minnie stand up where the train is on main street facing towards the castle and wave goodbye and goodnight to everyone and sometimes before they go in for the night, they give eachother a little kiss

Oh imagine that the link works. If you want to see it it is the laughing place link in my last post. Hope everyone likes it and thanks to Disneyluvers for posting it on that other thread. I knew I had seen it somewhere and I am glad I found it.

This has been going on forever, but I guess people are just hearing about it. It's at the end of the night when the MK is closing and they light up the castle and Mickey says goodnight. We have been one of the last people in the MK for most of our visits and even I had to ask what the "Goodnight Kiss" meant when I read about it on these boards. Really I never thought it was any big deal, it just was what happened!! To be honest I would not plan an entire trip around this. If you are early birds and get to the parks very early it might be hard espcially with little ones to stay late. My family has never been early birds even when the kids were young. We're all night owls so for us staying until the parks close is the equivilant of other people getting there at opening. It's hard to do both! For me there is nothing better than seeing those little white lights on Main Street and staying until we're one of the last people out. I love the feeling of being the only family walking down Main Street and having the cleaning crew already there!

Have Fun!!

I could be wrong, but I think this was added recently. I think the original kiss goodnight was just the light show.

Like I said, LOL, it is all so lovely, but I think it is a giant ruse to get us to leave!!!!! :)

Last time we were there, we didn't hear Mickey, but an adult male voice who just said, basically, Thank You for coming, drive home safely, hope you had a nice day and a safe trip home, come back again, etc. I also love that feeling of being with the cleaning crew. My goal next trip is to be on the last bus outta there, the one bus of straglers that has to stop at all the different resorts. The opportunity to do this is one of the perks of going solo-I'd hate to do this with tired little ones.

Oh, that is cool.

And heartwarming.

Just watching that brought back memories of my last trip to MK (1990).

Thank you for posting that link. It makes me cry everytime! Just think-- next Saturday my family will be enjoying another trip to Disney. After watching that video I am more excited than ever--I was just reminded how "magical" it really is!!!!!!!! pixiedust:

Oh that video just made me cry!!! What am I going to do when I actually see it in person???

Thank you so much for posting the video!!

Well, if it makes me get all misty now, what are the chances I'll be a complete puddle if I see that after having seen Wishes earlier in the evening? I already know DH doesn't need any math skills to calculate those odds!! princess:

The video is wonderful and I am tearing now. I saw this at Christmas time and it did have snowflakes of different colors and the beautiful song. I am looking forward to seeing it again in August. This time without the snowflakes!!!...Thanks so much for posting the link!!! pixiedust:

Aw heck, I think everyone on the board is crying now (including me)!!!!! :rotfl2:

Last year DW and I were at WDW for Christmas and towards the end of our stay I went to the MK alone to watch Wishes (i just tucker DW out all day through the parks). After the show, I wanted to wait to let the crowds thin so I took a walk around the park, starting through Tomorrowland, around through Fantasy Land to Liberty Square then back across the parade bridge back to the hub. I have been going to WDW since 1972 and the place has always been special to me. It was a unique feeling being there as one of the last ones - I felt special.

Anywho, I made my way out and soaking up every last minute dawdling out by the train station when I saw Mickey and Minnie come out. I wish now I knew that's what it was (the goodnight kiss) - I would have appreciated it more. I can't wait to go back this year to see it again.
