What is the first thing you do when you enter DL

We are planning a trip for Christmas. I want to know what The DL vets do first. We travel to WDW often and the first thing we do is ride the double decker bus.

Well...prior to falling in love with DLR during the Christmas season or becoming enchanted with Halloweentime, I used to go to DLR at "regular" times of year (summer, spring - that sort of thing). If I were still going at regular times of year, what I do when I first enter the gates might be different than what I do during the holiday season. So I will base my answer on the premise that we are talking about the holiday season and your upcoming Christmas trip.

So the first thing I do when I get into DL is head to the gigantic Christmas tree on Main Street for PhotoPass pictures. Actually, if there is a PhotoPass person by the floral Mickey in the front, I will stop there first and then head to the tree. If it happens to be a Magic Morning during Christmastime, I will high-tail it all the way back to the far corner of Fantasyland to get on It's a Small World Holiday before the line gets crazy. Even if it's not a MM, that will be my first stop. While I love to look at IASW Holiday at night, when the breathtaking colored lights come on, I prefer to ride it in the daytime when the lines are not as bad. Something happens at night when they turn on the lights - the colors are so gorgeous in person that they literally seem to attract people from all corners of both parks like moths to a flame, and the area around IASW Holiday at night is absolutely jam-packed with bodies.

So that's my tip - get on IASW Holiday as early in the morning as you can and experience the ride itself, and then, come nighttime, saunter back by there after dark to soak in the beauty and see the light show that is projected onto the facade.

If I am going into DCA first, for some reason, I high-tail it back to the Paradise Pier area and get on Toy Story Mania before that line gets nutty, stopping for PhotoPass pictures at the DCA tree along the way.

And if we happen to be eating dinner or checking into our hotel first, before entering either park, I will head to the GCH lobby, find a comfy chair or sofa to plunk down in, and listen to the carolers when they come in and perform, watch people get their photos taken with Santa by the giant GCH tree, and soak in the overall Christmasy atmosphere (preferably while munching on a gingerbread man w/ Mouse ears cookie:rotfl:)!!

We always go get coffee and a cinnamon roll. Then we head over to Fantasyland and ride Storeybook and Casey Jr, first thing.

We don't have any special thing that we do. But you can do the double decker bus at DLR just like at MK. Or the Jitney or the Fire truck (car). Though the view from the front of the upper level of the bus is pretty cool.

I have been to WDW a million times. Where is the bus? :confused3

Get a reservation in for Blue Bayou because sometime I forget to to call in the reservation a day before. Then get started on my hidden mickey search around the whole park.

Inhale the DLR smell, hear the music, and smile.

Exactly my answer! We love to ride Splash mountain first if it is warm- in December we sometimes switch that! Maybe Nemo or Indy. We also love to start the day with a Blueberry muffin from the Blue Ribbon bakery- like heaven!

Smile the biggest smile ever. Then get coffee on Main St. Then we usually head for Splash Mountain.

I just look around and soak up as much magic as I can, and maybe shed a little tear :lovestruc at the beauty of it - while I am walking as fast as I can to Space Mountain !! :lmao:

Glance up at the sign (here you leave today...) and say a little thank you to Walt. :wizard:

First thing we do is forget about the real world

After all these things...I go to the Disneyana store and wish I had the money to buy the neat artwork they have for sale.

After going under the tunnel, we usually end up in a bathroom because we eat breakfast in the car on the way! Then we walk up Main Street while we decide which direction to head first. That's the joy of an AP - you don't have to plan.

Like other posters, I like to read the sign as well that is overhead, then I like to look at the posters, wishing that I could have the HM and the Pirates poster. I love horses, so if the drought horse pulled wagon is there or will be, then I love to ride that. Then I walk rather briskly normally, to get a FP for Indy. I then will visit those raucous bad boys of the wild seven seas. When my voyage for the moment is done, I then just absolutely positively love to visit the Haunted Mansion (Pre HMH, thank you) where I make sure that I don't pickup any unwanted hitchhikers. ;) OK that was actually beyond the first thing, but oh well. he he ;)

Head to Indy for a fastpass and then on to ride Pirates......but if you have small children then probably peter pan, especially if it is early morning.
