About 5 years ago I was in DL with my wife, mom, sister, uncle and aunt. It was a friday and we didn't arrive at the park till about 9:00a because my family is slow  By the time I picked up our passes at guest services we were through the turnstiles at 9:30a. I was ready to hit some rides but the family wanted to eat breakfast even though we had lunch reservations at 11:30  So we ate at carnation cafe and we were done around 10:30a. After that we finally made our way over to Splash and rode that and by the time we were off the ride it was 11:15a so we had to make our way over to NOS to get to our lunch reservations at Club 33. We ate lunch, kinda since no one was hungry, I paid $400+ for lunch. Then we left and My aunt wanted to get a sillouette. After that it was about 1:30p and my sister wanted to go shopping so we went to the Block at Orange and our time in DL was done

$400 = Lunch, Breakfast and 1 ride :scared: I can say it wasn't one of my better days in DL!

Absolutely none. Didn't go on anything.

Wandered around a bunch. Sat on some benches. People watched. Had lunch.

A particularly nice day!

My husband and I go frequently and never set foot on a ride. We like to go and have breakfast, watch the tourists rush by, have a cup of coffee, watch the band march up and down Main Street, look in the shops and when it gets zoo-y we go home. Even without one ride it's still the Happiest Place on Earth.

The first time I brought my son, he was 8 months old and we weren't sure how he would do on rides, so we didn't go on any. We spent 1 day at DL and 1 at DCA, and went on no rides.

We had a blast! But it's easier to say that when you don't live terribly far and know that you can go back.

I have to say eating at Club 33 would go a long way towards soothing me, but $400 and what, one ride? I can feel your frustration. Breakfast? I thought it was irritating when my DH had to stop for just coffee during the morning "prime time". :rotfl:

There was one day we decided to run over to DL from my sister's house. I went in a car with my sister while my boys and DH went with her husband in our car. They got off the freeway suddenly and I didn't have a cell phone with me to call them, so had to stop at gas station, buy a phone card, and call their cell with it. Turns out they had car trouble and had to go back and take a different car. We continued on to DL and ate pretzles in DTD while we waited and it was after 10am before we got in. I don't remember what rides we finally did, but it wasn't much. Still, better than nothing. :)

Maybe we should just turn this into the 'Disneyland trips gone awry' thread.

Ditto - One Ride. My friend and her husband were coming into town. We decided to do a Thanksgiving weekend trip with very little notice. My friend wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, but since we were going about two weeks from when we decided to go to DL, there were no rooms available at DLH. I called Reservations every day until something finally opened up at the GCH. I was excited to stay there, as it was newly opened. My friend and her husband were supposed to chip in on the hotel bill with me. Because my friend wanted to only stay at DLH and did not realize that we were lucky to even get a hotel room on short notice at all, they didn't chip in and I was stuck with an almost $400 bill (this was back in 2001). I also had to buy my ticket to the park, whereas my friend and her husband had free tickets for themselves. Once we got to the GCH to check in - and we were already late - my friend noticed that her glasses were somehow screwed up and she had to drive down the street to a LensCrafters and get more. I cannot recall why, but for some reason I waited in the GCH lobby for them rather than went into the park. Maybe they offered to pay for my admission ticket and I was waiting on them to come back - cannot recall. By the time they got back and we got into the park, it was probably 2 p.m. They did not pay for my ticket because they had to spend a lot on the new glasses. I had to pay. Of course, the crowds were outrageous. We bypassed the rides to go to Plaza Inn and munch on some fried chicken. By the time that was through, we managed to make it onto Haunted Mansion Holiday. I wanted to go on Small World Holiday, but my friend decided she was on the verge of having a panic attack and so we left the park at about 6 p.m. and went back to the hotel and watched the fireworks from the balcony. I felt I had to go with her for support. A whopping 4 hours and one ride in the park and I got stuck with paying full admission price and full hotel price for one night.

The next day, we planned on looking in the DTD stores and it started to POUR rain, so it messed up our game plan to stroll leisurely. We got soaked. I was just disgusted with everything at that point. That was the one and only Disneyland trip that I wanted to END!

Wow... Is your friend still your friend? I know I had to disown my sister for a couple of weeks! ;)

Believe me, this friend of mine heard about from me later. I have had a lot of problems like that with her off and on over the years, as have others, so she is one of those who can be really fun to hang out with in small doses, but not on a regular basis anymore! That trip was not one of her finer moments, and not my best DLR trip, that's for sure!

This totally sounds like what it would be like to go to DL with my sister-in-law. It always takes FOREVER to go anywhere with her and we never quite get to do what it was we set out to do because of it.

There was one day we decided to run over to DL from my sister's house. I went in a car with my sister while my boys and DH went with her husband in our car. Ah yes, stopping at a yucky gas station in a strange town trying to use the pay phone. That was fun. At least we finally made it to DL.

Last year out of the day and a half that we were there the first day (half day) I believe that I did no rides. Spent a lot of time at PFF and Toontown. I still loved it though, don't get me wrong. I was at DISNEYLAND!! I did not care. This trip I plan on making up for it though. 6 days at Disney!!:woohoo:

I went with my sister one year. It was totally unplanned; I was interviewing for a job in San Clemente and my sister came with me (we stayed at her in-laws'). We had one day left before we had to fly back and we decided what the heck? Why not head over to Disneyland?

Unfortunately, it was late morning by the time we got there and it also happened to be Memorial Day weekend. We figured the crowds would begin to thin as the day wore on into evening, but instead, it got more and more crowded. It wasn't fun. There was no room to move and I hate being in that situation because I'm so short. I'm always next to someone's armpit and I can't see and I feel edgy.

We managed a couple of rides (took forever--pre-FP days) and tried to just enjoy DL, but it was simply too crowded, so we gave up and left.

Well, just yesterday the only ride I rode was POTC I was there from 9:30 am till 4pm... ate at BB for lunch, walked around with preggo friend while others rode 3 Mountains- SM, BTMRR, Splash. All 5 of us rode POTC.

We did something similar last summer. Arrived at the park around 5:00-6:00 and had dinner at Carnation Cafe. Then we went and watched the Airmen of Note perform. After that, we went to DCA to watch the Electric Parade. No rides and it was fun!

idk but my sons first time i know he did dumbo i dont rember to many other rides. he was just over 5 or 6months old he loved it and had a grate time. but when we went to wdw one day i didnt ride but three rides. 1 ride rock and coster, then the saffari ride, and then back over to rock an coster. to get the pic (i had waited three hours for everist then it broke down. we had free pic voutcher from online. so they traded it for another ride i chose rock and coster ..but it took my whole day (dinosaur was also broke down right when i walked in line..i had a bad day that day and didnt see all of animal kingdom at least my son was with grandpa so he saw lion king and some other things
so wdw 3rides l
dl i never leave with out rideing potc and hm and star tours

1 ride: The Sunwheel. This happened this last Labour Day weekend, where we only did this one ride in the entire day at DCA.

We really enjoy the ambience and other features of the parks (WDW, DL or DLP) and don't feel "forced" to take in the rides to get "value" out of our admission. Sometimes we do a lot of rides and sometimes we don't. It all depends on how we feel at the time.

1 ride. I think it was Big Thunder. I can't remember and this was last friday! My family and I went to the fitness expo for the 5k Half Marathon during the later part of the afternoon, had dinner at Naples, and went into DL where I went on BTM bc the lines were short.

In the span of 14 hours I did... technically 10 but 2 of those were repeaters. Rediculous!

Zero.

Many times. LOL

Wander the shops of Main Street, enjoy some magic at the Magic Shoppe, watch a parade, sit in the hub and watch kids play, watch the Dapper Dans / Marching Band / other entertainment, wander through the shops of NOS, enjoy Queenie and friends, sit by the Rivers of America, and on and on until the fireworks start. Find a little spot on Main Street. Enjoy the show. Walk over to the Rivers of America, find a little space for Fantasmic and wander back out through Main Street, pin trading along the way. And it's a perfect day!
