After hearing about the price increase at CRT, I just can't justify doing this anymore! So, I've decided to give Restaurant Akershus a try so dd can have a meal with the princesses.

We did do Akershus last year for breakfast and I really wasn't all that impressed. We really don't eat very large breakfasts anyway, so I am hesitant to do any breakfasts. I'd like to try Akershus for dinner, but the menu looks pretty foreign to me and I'm not that brave when it comes to trying new foods.

For anyone who has been there, can you describe to me what the salmon was like and/or the pasta dish if you had either of those? Also, what is the kids menu like?

Thanks so much!

I thought it was the most disgusting food I have ever eaten in my life. I am sure others will soon chime in and tell you that they liked it or didn't like it, but in IMHO I thought it was gross. I would pay more for CRT or maybe even do 1900 Park Fare before going to Akershus. Apparently the food used to be pretty good before this whole princess gathering came about. I was there in May 05 , and they might have changed it since or I might of even got them on a bad day...Just know we won't go back!!!

I on the other hand( along with several WDW guides) rate the food highly -as far as my family is concerned it is the most fabulous I have ever tried in WDW. I love healthy food and fish in particular. I cant tell you how good it was! I will not be going back however because of the princesses. If you like fish you will love it. I cant praise the food enough. :teeth:

The food was excellent especially the cold buffet loads of cold fish, salads, cheese and meats to try :) I must say since the Princesses have arrived we have not gone as they totally put us off what was a lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere and fab food. At least two visits per 14 day trip was normal for us but now it is none and it is not because if the food, which we dearly miss on our visits.

We really enjoyed the food there (Dh and I both got fish). We were there in June and November. Cold buffet was great too. Princess interaction was a realy selling point for my 4 yo.

I am so glad you asked this question- we are eating here for Easter Dinner and I was wondering myself... we are pretty brave though when it comes to food. We eat a lot of venison and other game so I think we will be ok. But I would love to see some more reviews.

I was wondering this myself. I want to take my dd to a princess meal on our next trip but I can't decide. What kind of fish is offered there? And what is offered for kids? Thanks

I thought the pasta and the salmon sounded pretty good . . . has anybody had either of those?

The last time we ate there was BP - Before Princesses, we had always liked their food. While I normally don't care for game meats, I found their venison dish to be very good. mom had the cod, which is currently on the dinner menu, she said it was very good, as well. Another thing I liked was the "Kjottkaker." Whether the food quality is the same now that they've added the royalty, I wouldn't know.

I was there in Aug, there wasn't a buffett, as a PP stated, but they had the standard menu, and I thought it was fantastic.

The appetizer is fresh fruits (berries, melons, etc) and cheeses (including a muenster, a swiss (don't call it that, it's norwegian) type cheese and a caramel flavored cheese)

I had the pasta dish, because I was leary of the other choices, but out of the 4 of us, we each got different things, and each one was fabulous. The pasta was VERY tasty, the venison was fantastic (who would have thought), the cabbage infused ground steak(can't remember the name) was good!!!, and I can't remember the 4th dish...

The dessert was a chocolate cake, norwegian pastries, and rice pudding with strawberries and strawberry sauce. I love rice pudding, but I think that it is an aquired texture-taste thing, so you might not love it. :)

Hope you have a great trip! I would go to this reatuarant for dinner again in a heartbeat.

I totally forgot about the princess factor... :)
Aerial, Jasmine, Belle, Cinderella, and Snow White! Our dinner was at 8:00, and we just missed Tinkerbelle!

It was my daughter and her friend's 2nd birthday party, and they brought out little horned helmet cookies that said happy birthday in Norwegian. It also came with a card signed by all the disney princesses!

You just missed Tinkerbelle? I don't think she was there greeting Guests. But maybe one of the princesses had seen her flying around earlier. Tink is not at WDW meals...if you catch my drift. Couldn't tell what you meant by your statement.

When we arrived, one of the girls was dressed as tink, and several people, CMs and people from other tables told us that we just missed Tinkerbell, and that she was just there.

I had no idea that she didn't visit restaurants... strange... wonder why everyone said that?

Magic for the children, of course. And it's due to the magic of Disney that YOU were drawn into it, as well. It's like saying to kids that you hear reindeer hooves on the roof on Christmas Eve . . .

Tink doesn't appear as a face character - she's really tiny, you know :teeth: .

That may be true for the dining but its not true in general. Tink is in the parade (asuming MK is using the same parade as DL - the one recently televised). Tink is on the float but she doesn't talk.
