with the dvc rooms there are some that are dedicated studios and none dedicated. also with 2 br. there are some dedicated and some not. i have stayed in a none dedicated 2 br so i was wondering what the difference would be with a dedicated. :confused3 does anyone know?

A dedicated 2 bedroom is not a studio plus the adjoining one bedroom. Dedicated 2 bedrom units will usually have 2 beds, not a bed and sofa, in the second bedroom, no kitchette, a larger closet, no balcony for the 2nd bedroom, and no exterior entry door to the 2nd bedroom.

A none-dedicated (AKA lockoff) 2 bedroom is a studio and its connecting one bedroom.

A dedicated studio does not have a connecting door to a one bedroom, and may have an additional chest of drawers or closet where the connecting door would have been.

AKV dedicated 2BR's balconies will not have the barrier between the 2nd BR and the LR area, but rather 1 open balcony spanning from the Master BR to the 2nd BR (according to the plans posted). *Note: All Dedicated 2BR units are in the Kidani Village expansion, all Jambo House 2BR units are lockoffs.

Or to put it another way.

If you book a dedicated two bedroom you have one door to the outside, one kitchen in the living area and generally (BCV has some strange rooms) two beds in the second bedroom.

If you book a two bedroom "lock off" you get a one bedroom and a studio with a connecting door. The "second bedroom" will likely have a pull out sofa in addition to a bed (except at OKW where studios have two beds) and will have its own door to the outside as well as a kitchenette.

All two bedrooms at BWV are lockoffs.

Lockoffs are nice if you have multiple families travelling together, as the second family can have the studio and be fairly independant with their own door and coffee maker - but still share space. Dedicateds are nicer if you think your kids might take advantage of the second door.....or if you need two beds.

The difference in studios is that a dedicated studio will not have a connecting door. On occation, there may be another peice of furniture in the room in place of the door.

thanks for the information. now i know how to get 2 beds in that 2nd br. i do realize that that may not always be the case, if they don't have a dedicatd when you get there.:thumbsup2

Dedicated vs lock-off is a booking category at the time of reservation.

Almost forgot, at AKV, if you get a ressie for a Dedicated Value Studio (at Jambo House, of course), you are guaranteed to either have a savannah view or a standard view...no parking lot view for those 8 rooms.

Let me clarify this just a little, for a 2 bedroom, dedicated or lock-off is a booking category, as it affects the inventory of studios and one bedrooms at that resort.

There are resorts that do have a few dedicated studios or one bedrooms, those are only "requests" and are not guaranteed.

We just booked a dedicated value studio at AKV for mid-June. It says online and on the confirmation letter "Ded Studio Value Jambo". I assumed that was a guaranteed booking category, are you saying it's not?

They may be in Jambo, as Jambo itself is a small resort. The "studio +" units, which are the dedicated studios at either BWV or BCV, are not a booking category. These are the studios with what DVC calls a "daybed" that can sleep a small child, and were originally promoted as sleeping 5, if one was a child. These units are only considered requests.

If AKV Jambo considers dedicated studios a booking category, that is not the norm in the DVC system, just as the Jambo concierge units are unique to that resort only.

 we had a value studio with lovely savannah view last Oct, might be mistaken yet almost sure it had the connecting door:confused3

There are 18 total Value Studios at AKV, 8 of them are Dedicated and the other 10 are lockoffs, you may have been in one of those. Of the 10 lockoff studios, 4 face Sunset Savannah, 4 face the Uzima Pool, and 2 face the parking lot. My PP addressed the Dedicated Value Studios. Sorry for the confusion. :goodvibes

at christmas we had a non-dedicated 2 br and there was a single chair pull out bed that my granddaughter just loved. she felt that the chair was put there just for her. i tried it out and found that it was also very confortable for me. :chat: that was one of the most marvelous additiions to the villas:thumbsup2

I didn't think the dedicated 2 b/r's at VWL were a booking category either. Or am I incorrect???
