Could someone explain to me the difference in car options with Alamo? I'm looking at "standard" vs "full size".

Thank you for the link. But that's why I asked. They hold the same amount people and lagguage. Just wondered what type of cars you can choose from.

I don't think Alamo at MCO has standard cars - at least whenever we've rented, there was never any signage for "standard" cars ... just compact, mid-size and full size plus your other categories like premium, luxury and SUV/Vans

At MCO, there is no standard car class. We have had confirmations for standard cars in MCO and have selected from the full size isle. The confirmation always said Malibu or similar, and Malibus where what was in the full size isle.

But when you make a reservation for MCO, on 'alamo.com', they list Standard size and Full size separately, with a price difference of a few dollars.

You are so right, that's another reason why I asked. Does anyone have a list of the type of cars you would choose from on the standard list?

Unfortunately as Alamo has no row for standard cars at MCO there are no types of standard cars to list. I believe they combine the standard and full size categories into full size therefore you would be able to pick a car from the full size aisle which have historically been malibu's and impalas.

I think the first word in your post should have been "Fortunately". It is actually a benefit as they will up you to the next car class. Sometimes the Standard rate is a few dollars less than the full size. It also allows one to upgrade from a compact all the way to a full size using a double upgrade coupon. A two car class upgrade from a compact takes one to a standard. So it is really like a triple upgrade.

That's good to know...thanks!:thumbsup2

With the option to choose between the Impala and Mailbu, which would people take ?

for a 6day trip into mountains & scenery areas. (2 adults,1 child)

The Impala is larger so that would be my choice. But with one child it's a toss up.

We would take the Malibu only because we own a Malibu. However the Impala is larger with more trunk space. We have opted for the Impala over the Malibu when we had four adults. The bags simply wouldn't fit in the trunk of the Malibu comfortably.
