What is the difference between Beach Club and Yacht Club?

Sorry, probably such a dumb question.

Is it like Jambo House vs. Kidani Villiage?

Beach Club guests can use the Yacht Club facilities and vice versa correct?

The colors lol. They are technically two resorts but they're literally joined at the hip (you can walk from BC to YC and vice-versa and never set foot outside). Superficially YC is closer to the Friendship boat dock and the walkway to HS but BC is closer to the International Gateway for Epcot, but in reality it's not much difference in distance. The biggest difference is that YC is one of the dog friendly resorts while BC is not.

All the good places to eat are on the YC side though, imo.

I’ll add that YC has many more rooms with full balconies than BC

We’ve stayed at both BC and YC in only standard rooms. We will always choose YC over BC. It seemed a lot quieter and we liked the rooms more too. If I’m remembering correctly you have a better chance at a full balcony at YC

As others have said, basically the same resort with just different theming. YC feels a little more adult to me and, also as other have said, you are almost guaranteed a full balcony if on any floor other than ground floor. They share all amenities.

All depends on your choice for breakfast. When we stayed at the YC in '17, we had to walk to BC to get a decent breakfast. The quick-serve in the store in YC didn't have the options the cafeteria in BC had.

They share buses, too. But the bus stops at YC first, so it's a little easier from there.

Again, experience is only from our one stay in '17, but if I remember correctly, they don't always share busses. Peak times ran separate busses, off peak was shared. I remember one time, that we were waiting for a YC bus, and a BC bus pulled in in the stop next to ours and feeling jealous (I know, I shouldn't) that their bus came while we were still waiting on ours, since it was the second BC bus that had pulled in while we were waiting for the first. But the lines were long enough that there was no point in hoping over.

That’s interesting! I wonder if it's changed. We stayed this past July and always shared buses with BC at all times of day. And for DS, we also shared with BW and Swolphin.

Must have changed then. We actually did share with BC quite a bit, just not at the peak open/close times.

I would say your experience is the exception. What time of year was your trip? We stay at YC 2 or 3 times a year for more than 20 years. Never remember a time Y & B didn’t share. We have traveled in January, February, April, May, August, September & December. And the resorts have been full many of those times. And all 5 Epcot resorts usually share going to Disney Springs.

End of Aug, 17. The week before Labour Day. YC was under reno then, Yatchsman was closed, etc, and we had managed to snag a free dining deal that wasn’t far off our usual stay at a moderate with the upcharge to the full dining plan thrown in so we jumped at the chance to pull a deluxe stay. Fell in love with the Epcot area resorts on that trip, but alas, POFQ’s prices usually wins out in the end and we haven’t been back.

It probably was just a fluke then with the busses. No idea why they ran the way they did on that one trip, and it wasn’t consistent, like the bus to DS was shared, boats to Epcot/HS obviously shared. Dragging up the memories of it during this thread, you’ve got me second guessing myself but I’m positive about the return bus from MK after the fireworks that one night, and I’m pretty sure the bus to AK went straight there without diverting to BC.

Yes, the two resorts share amenities and buses. Yacht Club allows pet dogs, their rooms have laminate flooring instead of carpet, and the rooms were renovated to have a somewhat severe, almost business-like style. Beach Club has no pet dogs and carpeted floors, which means it's likely a little quieter there. When we stayed at Yacht Club, the walls seemed noticeably thin, as well.

We’ve stayed at both and YC is our preferred side. They are really 2 sides of the same resort. Having a balcony is top on my must haves. I love the new CS at YC. But it’s a quick walk over to B.C. mostly inside to hit up their CS.
We have never heard our neighbours at either BC or YC. Many of the WDW resorts are going with vinyl plank flooring. They have a sound deadening rubber backing. We put it in our basement replacing the laminate. I think it looks better than laminate! And it’s quieter.

It’s not like AKL and Kidani. As Kidani is DVC. BC isn’t DVC but the BCV is close by. Also BC & YC are right next to each other, connected by inside hallway most of the way. Kidani and AKL are further apart.

That too, BC is a crapshoot for a balcony, so if it's important to you then YC is the better choice.
Does the view matter at all in getting a full balcony? For example do the water view rooms have balconies while standard or garden view have smaller or no balcony?

At BC about half the rooms have full balconies where you can sit, and the other half have little juliet balconies that only allow for standing. The room category does not make a difference, full balconies are found throughout them including Standard View. If you have your heart set on BC and really want a balcony, the best you can manage is making that your only room request.

AFAIK at YC all the rooms have full balconies regardless of category.

Thanks so much!

With due respect that's a long time ago in Disney years. Depending on when in 2017 you stayed, YC's QS was revamped since then and is limited but pretty decent for what it is. My BC stay was this past November and most times I went down to fill my mug there was nobody even manning that sad little counter. What was there was limited and looked pitiful. Les Halles was my breakfast spot that whole weekend though, because it's one of my favorites. But QS in general is severely lacking in that area imo, and it's the one reason I could never stay there longer than a weekend despite otherwise enjoying the resort and the Boardwalk area in general. I love Les Halles to death but sometimes you just want a quick bite without going into a park.

I can't really speak to the buses, tbh. I never take them at rope drop because I don't trust them, and only took 2 buses the entire time I was there since I mostly went to Epcot and HS. Even when I spent one late afternoon/night at MK for the first Xmas party, I hopped there from Future World so I took the monorail. Coming back from the party I did bus it and we shared with YC and were dropped off last. Coming back mid afternoon from AK we also shared and were dropped off last. But it wasn't bad. The only thing that was super annoying was DME on the way in--that was the longest ride I ever took on it, we stopped at CBR before we even got to the Crescent Lake resorts, and of course BC was last. Took forever.
